Overpriced for what it is. Meals were very bland and not what we expected. Service was slow and because of the crime there, won't be back.

We went on the early side, about 2:30, and were seated immediately. Our waitress was a lass named Ariana, who couldn't have been nicer. We ordered drinks, and they came quickly. We then ordered food, and had Ariana snap a couple pics for prosperity. The food we heard was good. My wife got the surf & turf tacos. It came on a massive platter with three Carne Asada and Shrimp tacos, loaded with meat, and some veggies. I Ordered the Plato Oaxaca. That was Carne Asada, Grilled Shrimp, Chorizo, and Broiled Catfish filet, and some veggies too (both dished had grilled whole small onions on the platter, and grilled green peppers, and a grilled jalapeno pepper. The Plato Oaxaca also came with separate tortillas, and a platter of beans, rice, pico de gallo, and guacamole freshly made (which was some of the best I Have tasted any where) . Ariana was very attentive thru the whole meal, with out being in any way intrusive. She also surprised us with a complimentary dessert of a caramel filled cinnamon cake and fresh whipped cream on a long skinny tray that had Happy Anniversary spelled out on it in chocolate sauce. It really made the date something to remember. The whole staff was very nice. We will be back, as my wife declared this her new favorite Mexican Restaurant.

I eat a lot of Mexican food and this is easily the best I've tasted for Miles around. Birria enchiladas were off the hook. And the salsa there is fantastic! Just a couple more notes about pricing though, because I think it's worthwhile to mention: there is no lunch menu. Most Mexican joints have a lunch menu, with smaller sizes and lower prices. not here. The portions are very generous so be prepared to get a dinner menu and to-go box. And I ordered a draft Mexican beer and got a 24 ounce glass for nine dollars. I think this is another attempt to raise your check. Most places will give you the option of a 16 or 24 ounce. Yes these are nitpicks, but I'm not complaining because the food is so freaking good.

The street tacos are the real deal: fresh tortillas, generous portions, and the kind of flavor that makes you order a second round before you've finished the first. The al pastor is spot on and the salsa actually has some heat to it, which I respect. Chips hit the table fast, service was friendly without being over the top, and the margaritas don't disappoint either. If you're in the Annapolis area and want solid, authentic Mexican food without a lot of fuss, this place earns a permanent spot in the rotation.

Our server, Fernando, set us up with separate checks. Several of us enjoyed margaritas. Everyone thought the food was amazing. I had the Ensalada Sin Fronteras with chicken. We started with chips and salsa, and they were excellent. The salsa wasn't overly spicy, just full of great flavor, and the chips were fresh and crisp--definitely a strong start to the meal. My wife ordered the chicken chimichanga. It was quite different from what we usually get at the Mexican spots we frequent--it was one large chimichanga served with a small salad, whereas we're used to getting two smaller ones with rice and beans, which we usually share. Still, it was tasty and satisfying in its own unique way. I ordered the Chicharrón en Salsa Verde--crispy pork and onions in a green tomato sauce, topped with cilantro and served with rice and warm flour tortillas. It had great flavor and the pork had a nice texture--crisp but not dry. Our friends ordered a variety of dishes, including: Chile en Nogada - a stuffed poblano pepper with seasoned ground beef, covered in a chilled almond and walnut nogada sauce, topped with pomegranate seeds and served with rice. It was rich, colorful, and very flavorful. A beautiful dish with red and yellow sauces and a white cream swirl--unfortunately I can't recall the name, but it was as good as it looked. Six tacos with assorted meats--each one was fantastic. The flavors were bold and fresh. To drink, most of us had margaritas, and you could tell they use fresh ingredients--these were excellent and not overly sweet like some places serve them. Service was top-notch from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The only disappointing part of the evening came at the end, when we learned that the restaurant will be closing in about a month. The building is being torn down, possibly for high-rise condos. The staff doesn't know if or where they'll reopen. It's a real shame, especially in an area that's already struggling with traffic and congestion. More homes, fewer gems like this. I just wish we had discovered Sin Fronteras Café sooner. Hopefully they find a new home nearby, and we'll definitely try to come back before they close for good.

I went to this restaurant at the suggestion of my son, who goes to college in Annapolis. The strip mall it's in is in pretty bad shape--there were boxes, mop buckets, construction debris, a shoe, and a bunch of trash just lying around outside the restaurant. It looked disheveled and unkept. Parking wasn't great, but it was typical for a small strip mall. We were seated, and after a few minutes, a disinterested lady came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. Two of us got water and the other two had sodas. She delivered them, took our order, and we never saw her again until I tracked her down later. Someone else delivered our food. The food was fine--it wasn't bad, and was as good as most Mexican places I've been to, though it wasn't over-the-top great either. The worst part during the meal was that I ran out of water. I kept trying to eat the roasted jalapeño they'd given me with my tacos, but I eventually had to give up because I wasn't getting a refill. After all of us had finished, we sat there talking for about 15 minutes waiting on the bill or some sign of life from the server... Nothing. Ever. At all. Finally, we needed to leave, so I got up, went to the counter, and found the lady who had "kind of" served us. She was indifferent, said nothing, and looked at me like "what do you want?" I politely said we needed our bill, and she started tapping keys on the register. She gave me no itemized receipt or bill, just said "$53." I gave her my card, and she put a receipt in front of me with a pen. When I got to the tip line, I was tempted to give her nothing (I wish I had now), but I gave her $5. Honestly, that wasn't even bad considering it was only a $53 bill and her service was terrible. I signed and left. At the table, I listened to that voice in my head that said I should keep my copy of the bill. I filled it out as I had at the register and tucked it into my wallet. Several days later, after I'd returned home, I checked my card's website and, sure enough, this young lady decided to give herself an extra dollar. Apparently, she thought she'd done $6 worth of work. I called the restaurant and tried to explain my situation to a woman on the phone. After several attempts to explain it, she put me on hold to talk to someone. After about 3 minutes, she came back, said "ok, thank you," and hung up on me. I'm currently in the process of doing a chargeback with my card for the dollar. I'd take back the whole $5 if I could, because that employee/thief doesn't deserve her job, let alone a tip. I hope it's obvious, but this review and the chargeback are not about a dollar. This place is shady and that "employee" is a thief. My son is a sophomore, so we have 3 more years and many visits to come to Annapolis. Cabrito's food wasn't good enough to risk another try, so I hope that stolen dollar was worth losing a repeat customer. Again, I realize this review won't hurt them, but hopefully someone will read it and be motivated to watch their receipts after dining here. I will not be back.
