This was the first time I've been here. I'll say this right off....the enchiladas were not traditional. I'm Mexican and can verify that they were tacos rolled up with enchilada sauce dumped on them. The tacos were very good and they aren't sheisty with the filling. I WILL try this place again....I'll try the empanadas and a burrito next time. Tried for the first time last night. We live locally but had no idea they've been open for four years. Very casual but everything you want from a quick, no frills place. Everything was fresh and flavors stood out. Chips and chunky guacamole were perfect starter. I had the shrimp and garlic and the sauce was so delicious I enjoyed sopping it up with the rice and beans as much as eating the shrimp themselves. My wife's shrimp fajitas were yummy and my daughter had the chicken chimichanga which she loved as well. Sometimes you get that ravenous thirst the day after eating Mexican. Not here. On our "list" now for a quick after work meal. Not a "late night" spot (is anything in Hunterdon County??). We were last ones sitting at 8pm. Gonna try it with our friends too! read more

Omg!!! Just blink and you'll miss it this hole in the wall is the best Mexican food I have ever had!!!!! So reasonable with prices and the freshly made chips and salsa are awesome!!! They use the authentic Mexican queso fresco and it is delicious! Nary a piece of fake American cheddar or jack in sight haha. I tried a shredded beef burrito special, while my son had their regular menu shredded pork (carnita) quesadilla, with mangoes. This place has great Mexican/TexMex food. It's easy to miss on route 22 - just passed the Stewart's on the left! It's this small place with about 10 tables - nothing fancy, but cozy. I ordered enchiladas verdes, which were probably the best I've ever had. The corn tortillas were fresh, chicken wasn't too dry, salsa verde was delicious and the lettuce, tomatoes & onions + queso fresco on top gave it that fresh crunchy texture. My fiancée ordered chicken fajitas which came out sizzling and were a 10X better version of what you'd get at an Applebee's. They also serve fresh chips and salsa, and it's definitely not from the Tostitos jar like some places do. If you want legit Mexican food it's worth the 10 minute drive passed Sol on 22. Just go back to Sol after for drink specials! read more

If you're having trouble finding this place, just make the U-turn off Rt 22 West AFTER you pass the Stewart's. If you take the U-turn before Stewart's, you will be confused because you won't see the Los Chilitos sign. Went here for Cinco de Mayo this year during lunch time. There seemed to be only 2 people working the front, so service was pretty slow. However, it was a busy day so I'm not sure how this place is on a non-holiday. Slow service doesn't exactly bother me much; I judge a place by its food. And the food here is SO GOOD! I had the steak fajitas, which were definitely up there with the best fajitas I've ever had. This place is tiny and looks sketchy from the outside, but give it a try and the food will not disappoint! Update: I took one star off because the guacamole isn't all that great. Big chunks of avocado and definitely fresh, but not enough flavor nor seasoning. read more
