My visit to my local Panaderia came as a surprsise as usually my dad brings it home after church. Unfortunately, my dad got ill and was hospitalized so the role of "man" was taken over by yours truly. I have always eaten the bread and loved it! I only live blocks away so the bread is always warm and soft by the time it hits my lips. As I walked into this Panaderia I was immediately struck with the aroma of fresh baking bread in the air. The smell was so so very pleasant I felt I could eat every single bread solely based of this aroma. The lady at the counter immediately greeted me and was lovely. I got the utensils and tray and began my free for all of grabbing every bread in sight. When it was time to pay, I was totally surprised on how affordable the abundance of bread ended up being. I have been coming to Los Compadres for a few months now. The breads here are always fresh. The variety of breads that are sold here is great. A particular favorite of mine are the cinnamon twists. The strawberry cake with pink icing is also very tasty. The make this cheesecake-like thing that is perfect and dangerous to one's waistline. They have all sorts of cookies and sell milk as well as tamales. The people who run the place are uniformly cheerful. I have found that great customer service is a constant at Los Compadres. I love the fact that you can see the breads being made in the back. The prices here are exceptional. For example, a square of the above mentioned cheesecake-like thing (that is big enough for two people really) is $1.50. Seriously, if you want something sweet and homemade, skip Starbucks and head to Los Compadres, you won't regret it. read more

Super disappointed. I've gotten some pretty good cakes here in the past, but the customer service was horrible today. I needed two cakes for a dual birthday celebration at my house. I came in three days in advance, placed the order and paid in full. I came the afternoon of the event to pick up my cakes and they didn't have them. They said they forgot. Roaches! I know many people who come here for the pan dulce. I've eaten it many times and loved it every time. I just stopped by tonight just as I was finished picking all of my favorites, I spot 2 roaches on the shelves where the pan dulce is. I told the woman clerk, she says nothing to me. No apology, no expression on her face at all other than a blank stare. Maybe she was in shock. I walked out and went into my car and watched her through the window as she went to the showcase and looked around for about 15 seconds at most, then put all of the pan dulce I had picked back onto the shelves. A very cute shop tucked next to the Quad, Los Compadres Panaderia is yummy bakery. Filled with all sorts of confectionaries ranging from cookies to cakes to traditional pan dulce. I bought pan dulce, which I can assure you all meets the standards of tasty pan dulce at reasonable prices (only sixty cents!). The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the fact that the trays I used to gather the bread had the crumbs from the previous customer. It made me feel like it was a little unsanitary. I wish they used liners for each new customer. Other than that, it was a nice little bakery here in Whittier. read more

Felt the need to write a review as I sit here munching on their pan dulce. First thing first, I DONT EVER EAT PAN DULCE because I've always thought they tasted like dry cardboard,(obviously from prior bad experience of getting pan dulce elsewhere) but then this Bakery change my mind for good!!! their conchita is SOOOO fluffy and soft and moist and yummy... I wake up extra early just to pop in before work to grab a dozen pan dulce for myself and coworkers. I wouldn't write a review and RAVE about a piece of bread unless its THAT GOOD.. which it is. Soo... checked out the reviews and the health violations lol decided to try it since I just moved to the area and looking for a panadería. I've been working from home due to the pandemic so I went during lunch. When I got there, the ladies were talking amongst each other and didn't acknowledge me. Because of Covid, I asked if I can just grab the tray and tongs and they told me to go ahead. Got bread and ordered tamales. The conchas are ok, I've had better. The tamales are good. Sucks because I was missing one and don't know if they even charged me for it since I didn't ask for my receipt -_- when the lady charged me, she asked if I wanted a receipt and I said no. She then literally walked away! No "thank you" nothing!! Literally just said "ok" and walked away back to gossip with whoever else was there. I've been going here for at least 10 years. I no longer live nearby but always pop in when I am in the area. The owner Anita always asks after my children every time I come in- she always remembers us even if we havent been there in a spell We have ordered the Tres Leches cake which was delicious. It was evenly dispersed with the 3 leches. If there is something I can't stand it is when part of a TL cake is soggy in one area and dry in another part. We also purchase the tamales. The chicken and green chile are great as well as the red tamales. So yummy! The bolillos are divine and the ones with the cream cheese and jalepeno inside are to die for. Although the last time I was there the spicy creamy goodness I expect was a little on the lean side for the price. Could have been a unusual batch. I visited this location several years ago and loved it, I went in this week and was just as happy. I purchased 3 conchas that tasted like little sugar clouds, fluffy and soft. Never had trouble with ordering them everytime i come they have the ones i want chicken with green salsa, beef, and cheese. I've tried looking around for other bakeries but nothing beats this.
