Good food, very clean, friendly and prompt service. A bit on the spendy side, would be nice to have lower cost lunch specials.

Food was good as was the salsa bar. The dining area is nice and spacious. Service was friendly. Soooo what's not to like? My biggest complaint is the menu prices. Compared to other Mexican restaurants you will pay quite a bit more for the same dish. For example, a seafood chimichanga at Playa Azul is under $25 but here it is $32. All of the dishes were like this which is disappointing and unfortunate. If you are in Kenai or Soldotna and want yummy Mexican cuisine this is a great spot but it will hit your wallet a lot harder than other places in town with the same fare. 4 star food but dropped to 3 for being overpriced. read more

Los Compadres is my favorite DoorDash store in all of Kenai!! I'm a traveling healthcare worker and this place has the best comfort food at fair prices anywhere here! Their breakfasts and dinners are HUGE, their steak is UNBELIEVABLY tender, and the prices are totally worth it-- their burritos are GIANT--really 2.5 meals. Their veggies are cut of in M-Lg chunks--al dente--so they're toothy Their rice grains are larger and fluffier yet have more flavor than anyone's I've ever tasted--and the Tortilla chips (freshly made) come warm and in a ENORMOUS paper bag! (Watch out if you want HOT salsa!! Ha-cha-Cha!) We loved it and got what we asked for! Beautiful FLAN! The most authentic--topped with light caramel syrup-- HUGE and satisfying!! First time ever having Mexican food in Alaska. As a tourist coming from Texas, on the real and I'm not even gonna sugar coat this review, it was really good. Enjoyed the Steak and Chicken Fajitas with their Rice and Refried Black Beans. As well as the complimentary chips and their salsa bar. Service was great and the staff is very friendly. Food was Great. Ambience was a local vibe and service was fairly prompt. We had a party of 12 and they were able to accommodate us. The one thing that was a little disappointing is that they were out of Certain types of beers that are party ordered on their menu. I actually rate the food, a three star, but given its location and the fact that it was decent raises the rating one star. We had enchiladas, burritos, fresh chips, and fresh salsa from the salsa bar. Good service in overall a pleasant experience. Doesn't really compare to the Mexican food from Southern California but for Kenai Alaska I think it's great. read more

The new ownership lets their kids sit in a booth on phones full volume and I was there with my children who kept asking why it was so loud and they were allowed to play Minecraft at a restaurant when my kids aren't allowed; at least we know it's not the family environment that it used to be nor is the ambiance. This is a friendly, unassuming little gem tucked away in a strip of small stores. The service has always been excellent, and this last time was even better. Our server was great with our kiddos (we have one that is going, who is Autistic and has allergies- food outings are always a challenge!). She got his food out first, refilled our chips, was patient with our ingredient questions and was always smiling and moving! We had a mix of items (burgers, tacos and enchiladas lol) and all were great! The burgers were definitely over cooked but the toppings on them helped with that a lot. The fries are my only dislike- they are the coated kind and I'm not a fan and neither one of us ate more than a couple. It's pricey but everything is nowadays and it's comparable to what's around and we always have leftovers :) read more

I understand they might need to pay high prices to but mostly dishes are from $15 and up, Fajitas was $22 and they were not the best, they were ok. This food is totally TEX-MEX... What a delicious & nice surprise! Welcoming staff. Great menu with some local fare added to the menu which is quite spectacular: halibut or shrimp tacos, fajitas, etc! You won't be disappointed . I lived in Kenai for about 7 months and I'll tell you what, Los Compadres is as authentic as you can get! Extremely delicious and always hot and fresh! The chips and salsa are must and the atmosphere is quite relaxing and the staff is extremely friendly! Love this place! read more

Not a good place to eat if you are vegetarian. There is a menu item that is listed as a Vegetarian Burrito with many vegetables listed. It came full of refried beans (not vegetarian) and Mexican style rice (also not vegetarian) and a very few sauted veggies. Neither the rice or beans were listed in the menu description. read more

I honestly didn't really expect to get good Mexican food in Kenai to be honest. I was presently surprised to get great service and food. The salsa's are fresh and delicious as well. I had the carnitas and it was good. As far as the price, I have found that in Alaska, you can either get cheap eats or good food...This is the latter, and you get what you pay for. Sorry, no pic because I mowed through it and didn't think about taking a pic until it was too late. I hope this business continues to thrive.
