My family came here when I was younger and to see Los Compadres so empty hurt my heart! The staff here are always so incredibly friendly and kind! We got 3 chicken tacos, 2 Jarritos, 2 beef tacos, and the California burrito! Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned/cooked. The decorations and overall vibe of the restaurant almost feels like you're eating in a market! It truly is a lovely restaurant to sit down with family and eat at. Their truck outside says they do "catering" on its side. But they actually only have a lunch truck. Not bad if that's what you're looking for. But catering, not to the letter. I was told they only do outdoors, with the truck. I need indoors for nursing home residents and staff (like trays of stuff for a buffet line or something). So unfortunately the truck doesn't really accommodate my needs. That's okay. Nobody can be everything to everybody, I get it. But I also ordered dinner, to go. I have a deep love for Mexican cuisine (more so authentic fast food and home cookin) that goes back as far as I can remember and I was eagerly anticipating THIS dinner. Now, I used to basically live on the California/Mexico border and ate in Mexico, in border towns and non-border towns. I've also cruised deep into Mexico. One of my mother's husbands was Mexican and so was one of mine. I've spent time in Mexican bush camps in southern Texas over a campfire cooking texmex with ranch hands, but I'm no foodie. I just have a little exposure and experience in this genre. So that really compels me to say that my dinner was less than impressive. Service was good for sure. The carnitas chimichanga I ordered was pure meat. On the side was some sour cream, guacamole (not enough of either) and plenty of shredded lettace underneath the condiments. The chips were good, but could've been warmer with more salt and salsa. I have to say that the food at this restaurant, while 'stylized' as Mexican, isn't really what you'd expect as Mexican (only marginally adjacent, I'm afraid). I truly didn't expect it to be authentic this far away from Mexico, but it really missed the mark. I saw tortillas, I saw stylized proteins and even salsa. This is such a great addition to Batavia ever since they opened a few years ago. This was my first time back there in at least a year and it was just as good as I remember! When you want really great Mexican style food, this is the spot to go. Everything inside is extremely authentic and so awesome. They have a free toppings and salsa bar for your chips and tacos too. I went with just the quesadilla and it came with fries. We also got some chips and queso with some rice & beans to split. Overall, the quesadilla was cooked perfectly with the chicken and tasted delightful. The rice and beans are always a great side and the queso was delicious! I honestly would've just taken more chips than fries but the fries were good too. Just felt a little off with the rest of the meal but I dunked them in the queso too. Very cheap, delicious, and good for vegetarians! Ordered a custom burrito with no meat and it was only $3.86! It wasn't small or lacking variety or anything; it was larger than a Taco Bell burrito and I got salsa verde, onions, etc. That's cheaper than the seltzer! The restaurant itself is nice too. THEY HAVE TORTAS!!! That's a literally what I said when I saw it on the menu. This is the first place that I have found in Western New York that serves authentic Mexican tortas (granted I have not searched high and low). Torta means several things in Spanish including cakes, pies, flatbreads, or sandwiches. But in Mexico a torta is a specific kind of sandwich on a soft baguette. Stopped over here while I was out and about with a friend and came back the very next day for more. On day one I had a torta with Carnitas. The next day I went back and got a torta Al Pastor to-go. Both days I got chicken soup. The tortas are great! Soft bread, lots of meat, and crema and guacamole and onions and lettuce-- my mouth just watered. The chicken soup is very good too. The broth itself is very tasty and it has big pieces of chicken and lots of vegetables. Service was good and friendly too. I loved it and I will be back for many more tortas!! Y mas sopa de pollo!! Great Mexican food. Atmosphere more like a fast food restaurant, but service was fast, food was great. A nice find on a stopover along the NY thruway, better than any pub grub dive or chain. Now I don't think that was actually chorizo on my dish, but it was still a good meal. I'd go back. I'll point out they had a steady stream of Hispanic clientele while we were there, that has to mean something. My fiance and I found this little restaurant by happen stance. We were in Batavia for a wake and wanted to grab lunch before heading back to Rochester. Los Compadres was the only place open on a Sunday. We are so so soooo glad we stopped in. So there's literally 5 parking spots on a tiny lot. You go in and order at the counter, grab a seat and they bring the food to you. Before you settle in too much, go check out the little salsa bar. I recommend just trying all of the salsa. They have mild and spicy ones. The pico is also fresh and seasoned very well. I believe you have to order the chips and salsa to get the salsa bar but I'm not sure since we always get it. So we've been here twice now in the past month. Once during the initial random visit, and another time we drove 45 minutes here to just eat dinner and go back home. That's how much we love this place. Both times we both got the same thing! My fiance got the garlic shrimp and rice dish. The shrimp is soooo flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The beans are rich and seasoned well. The rice was cooked correctly and the whole dish is just soooo yummies. I got the beef tongue taco and the al pastor. The beef tongue was soooo tender and savory. It's my favorite. The al pastor has such great pineapple taste to it, it's so good!! This last time we went we got the michelada. Saw the reviews on the way through and figured we'd stop but man I was disappointed. The pork tamale was so dry and was not good at all. The tacos were okay. Wasn't a fan of the al pastor taco. Was looking for a place nearby to visit for lunch with a vegetarian friend and after searching yelp ended up at Los Compadres. I love the concept, go up and order at the counter, stop by a salsa bar for fresh chips and different sauces, and sit and wait until your main dish is brought over to you. I ordered 3 different tacos, 2 would have been enough, I got the chicken, carnitas, and pork with pineapple. There was a choice of corn or flour tortillas. There was a good amount of mean in the taco shell. The good: -fast service -help yourself chips (which were fresh) and toppings the not as good: -the meat was pretty bland, and very fatty, especially the carnitas and pork with pineapple -the guacamole and salsas were all very runny, and pretty bland -no cups of water, must purchase a fountain soda or a bottle of water -the tacos come just with meat, cheese is extra, as is sour cream The price seemed rather typical of a taqueria thought I have only been to a couple. The inside of the building was cute. We pulled into the parking lot around 630 on a Saturday evening and they were dead, which have us a little pause, based on all the positive reviews. But we venture in anyhow. We choose well!! The service was friendly and the atmosphere kinda casual local dive. We placed our order at the counter, got our drinks, and grabbed some chips and salsa from the salsa bar. The salsas were flavorful and if you like spicy, they got you covered. Our food came out quickly and the portions were generous. (We were hungry, so forgive me the lack of photos) The taco salad had more chicken than salad, the California burrito was huge, and the street tacos had tons of meat in them as well. The barbacoa and al pastor tacos were both fantastic! The cilantro and onions are on the salsa bar to complete your proper street tacos, along with lime wedges and whichever salsa you prefer! You order at the counter and then sit and they bring your food out, once done. There is a taco bar with chips, salsas (5-6), pico, tomato, onion, fried jalapeños. So you can snack on chips and salsa until you're food is done. My husband had the Carne Asada. I think he felt it was pretty good but not awesome. It came with 2 tortillas, rice, beans and a small avocado side salad. My son and I had tacos. Tried the Al Pastor, barbacoa and carnitas. Everything was made to order and tasty. Went with hubby and father in law. I was surprised by the price for 2 entrees and a side order of rice ($55.89 incl. 8% tip). I expected a casual sit-down restaurant like Rancho Viejo nearby, but was disappointed. Here, there was no server and no free water to drink. You pay for your food upfront, and it gets put on your table.We bussed our own table. We were there at around 6:30 pm on a Monday and it was empty. Left around 7ish pm and still empty. When you walk in, you order your food and drinks right there at the counter. Then, you either sit at a table or wait for take out. This restaurant is clean and staff is friendly. They have a HUGE tv which we were able to watch the football game on while eating our meal. They have a salsa station kind of like at Moes but it's already in containers. They don't have silverware, they have plastic forks and knives. When you order your drinks you either pick one from the cooler or you can take your cup to the fountain machine. Wow! Our first time here and we will be back. My husband had the fajita burrito. It was so flavorful and loaded with meat. I had a birria and a barbacoa taco and they were both amazing. If I had to choose between the two I would say birria but they were both so good. I had a peach margarita and it was good as well. The only thing bad I could say about the place was the chips and that is only because I like thin chips so really just a preference thing. The salsa bar was nice because we like a LOT of salsa and we could have as much as we wanted. The guy that took our order was super helpful on ordering and the food came fast and hot. Los Compadres has a great concept which deserves 5 stars...place your order at the counter, travel over to a taco bar with a plethora of tasty salsas and fixin's to put on your tacos and then wait for speedy service to deliver while munching on chips and salsas. The service was great and quick-5 Stars. The amount of food in the tacos-5stars. (2 tacos could feed a large appetite and if needed rice and beans can be ordered for an additional $1 each) The overall price -5 stars (a family of 5 can easily eat for $20) The 3 stars comes from the lack of flavor in the guacamole, the bland spices on the meat. 2-stars because the "veggie" taco is really just potatoes... which were tasty but are not vegetables. 1 Star for lack of attention to the waste/environment: plastic utensils (even when you are eating in) plastic straws, styrofoam togo containers and the biggest for me - NO WATER. If you want to refill your water bottle or just have a glass of water, you have to purchase a bottle of water! Yuck! ... think about all the toxins that have leached into the plastic water from production to table. I carry reusable utensils with me to reduce my carbon footprint, but when on the road, there is only so much water I can carry with me. A restaurant should provide water at minimum at the soda station. While the price, service and amount of food deserves 5 stars the lack of flavor along with the lack of attention to waste, I'm averaging 3 stars. read more

LOCATION: In the heart of Batavia off of Main St. There's a small parking lot, but you can park on the street. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly! FOOD: You can watch them prepare your food! I like that you can see what you're getting. The food is fresh and delicious! I had a Taco Bowl with Chicken. The flavors were awesome. The portions are huge as well. You can get chips and salsas - may choices. Beware of the hot dip though... Holy Cow I think my lips are still on fire! COST: Very reasonable. Outstanding food! The tacos are *huge* and unless you have a likewise *huge* appetite, you may want to order one less than your tummy thinks it wants. I've had the chorizo, ground beef, and chicken. Each delicious, but my favorite is the chorizo. A family member is vegan and was concerned about options, but alas, their veggie tacos are potato, green pepper, and onion - dairy free as long as you say no gracias to the sour cream and cheese. Their chips and salsa bar are self serve and there is everything from mild to flaming hot. We've been twice and will definitely return soon. read more

For being in Genesee County, this place gives the big city versions a run for their money. Los Compadres has been open for a little while now and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to go, but I'm so glad I finally did. The restaurant looks small from the outside but once you're in, there is tons of seating. They have a lovely, easy to read electronic menu and a huge variety of tacos. I went for a Torta. I tried one at a Yelp event earlier this year and have been craving one since. It did not disappoint. The bread was delightfully toasted and the carnitas was amazing. Similar to La Davina Dos in Williamsville, Los Compadres has a well-rounded toppings bar AND you can get yourself some chips, and these chips are addictive. They have a variety of salsas to complete your meal. I can't wait to go back! They only thing that *might* be a draw back is their limited parking situation but don't let that deter you. It didn't look like much from the outside but I was very impressed after walking in. The phrase, "Don't judge a book by its cover." definitely implies here. This place is amazing. Their prices are pretty standard across the board. You make your order at the counter and seat your self, then they bring your food to you. They have a self-serve condiment bar where you get your own chips and has five different kinds of salsa. pico de gallo, onions and tomato. I love tacos de lengua and most of the Mexican restaurants I go to only serve it on a Wednesday or a Sunday. It is served here every day. Now let's get down to the nitty-gritty of why you're here.
