Delicious, quick n friendly service. Plenty of parking and clean atmosphere. Their specials can't be beat. There's lunch specials and senior specials and daily specials. Everyone can be special at Rancho Viejo.

Food and atmosphere are good! Perfect place for Mexican and marg lunch date with my friend-Batavia is our halfway point and we love Mexican food so this place definitely fit the bill, plus the margs they serve are massive.

Carne Asada was 10/10, the seafood plate was a bit fishy, Service was 10/10 and the hot salsa is our favorite!

Cool seating area (about half the total room size)

4 1/2 stars! Son and I arrived in Batavia after a long drive and tried to go to two other restaurants, but both were closed for the town's Holiday weekend. I didn't really want Mexican food (since it is hard to top the quality we get back home in Central California), but we knew this was open and we were tired and hungry. Well my son picked a winner. This place was excellent. Very spacious inside and seating outside. The menu is extensive, they have a full bar, and prices are very reasonable. My son got his usual asada burrito, I got the El Combo plate, and I ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla for us to split. Well when my plates arrived (yes plural), I knew my son would be eating the quesadilla on his own. The El Combo has one of just about everything on the menu (see my photo) and is big enough for two people to get their fill. Everything we had was great, comparable to back home! I especially liked the fresh chips and salsa. For added entertainment we got to watch the local police get called due to a dine and dasher, but they caught him (he was just walking down the street, so I'll let you guess his mental state) and brought him back to pay his bill! Service was great and my Modelo Negro was ice cold. Great place!

Mexican spot in the heart of Batavia. I visited at lunch during Christmas break, the place had a decent number of people, but we were able to get a table right away. They served chips and fresh salsa which were good. I got the 1/2 enchiladas supreme from the lunch menu. It was fine, nothing to write home about. One of the things I love about Mexican food is the spiciness and flavors and I found it lacking a bit. Service was friendly, a little under attentive but overall fine. I did ask for no sour cream but my plate came out with it on. Our server dropped in off and continued to another table, then upon walking back offered to take it back remembering the no sour cream, I declined but appreciated the notice. I would be willing to try them out again in the future.

Lunch menu isn't available on the weekends? Really? And then on top of that you're also out of tamales? Pitiful experience. After I finally got my order after our waitress brought out the wrong dish I was not impressed. The rice was a sight for sore eyes and did not taste good. Chicken was alright, drowned in too much cheese for my taste. The inside of the restaurant was cute but my boyfriend's grandmother nearly slipped because of something on the floor. Won't be coming back

I understand this isn't a big city by any means, but they can do better. During my stay in Batavia I ate here on two occasions. I dined in with them, and did a carryout. Dine In: It took over 10 mins for server to come over and acknowledge us. They were not busy by any means. Our server actually passed us twice before speaking. Once we ordered the food literally came out in less than 10 minutes... the food was good but nothing to shout out to the world. Carryout: Called in for this one. The man was not professional at all lol. I said my order and he hollered back "What?, what do you want" . When we walked in to pick up the order we had to ask for silverware... and chips and salsa. He said it only come with a small bag, which was fine. But how did he expect us to eat our food without silverware? You don't have much to choose from in this town, but if you need edible Mexican I guess try it

I make trips to Batavia every Tuesday and Thursday and I always pass by this restaurant so I decided one weekend that I would give it a try, it was very welcoming, we were seated right away and we were also given nachos and salsa we have been there twice since then and we have ordered the same dishes which is the majara Frita which is fried tilapia and we also ended up getting Frozen strawberry daiquiris, the fish and the rest of the food came out steaming hot and it was delicious, I was literally licking my fingers, the customer service was great we were well attended to and taken care of, the restaurant is clean and very colorful it just has beautiful scenery and I am looking forward to going back again to get the fried fish that is something that you have to give it a try it is just beyond delicious, and I also like getting dishes that I don't make at home

    Excellent art!

May 10,'24. Went here for lunch at about 2:20p. We were seated immediately. The waiter was great, didn't get impatient when we took a while to decide what to order. I ordered enchiladas, and my daughter got fajita quesadilla. Both were excellent! We also got dessert, fried ice cream, and xango(?), basically fried cheesecake, and they were heavenly! Also, the decor is just amazing - the chairs and tables all had different designs, and they were quite pretty/ cute, depending. Ample parking. They also serve Coke products, which surprised me because everywhere else in the city serves Pepsi (and I hate Pepsi!).

The chips were good but they advertise that extra chips are $2.99 per basket, who were the cheapskates coming in and filling up on free chips? Lame. We got a pitcher of margaritas but the kind of tequila I wanted said horni on the menu and I didn't feel comfortable telling the waiter I wanted a horni thing. Anyway, we got the margaritas and they were good but I had four without a buzz so probably weak. We got the "el combo" and it was a ton of food, meant for sharing. Everything was alright but not well seasoned and there is no hot sauce on the table. No one came back to ask if we needed hot sauce, we did. Also, the mexican decor is classic and funny. Can barely tell that it used to be ponderosa. Prices were a little high for the quality.

Did someone say free chips and salsa? The best!

We went back to Rancho Viejo for the first time in probably two years and they are not as good as they were, they got even better. As soon as you get seated they bring your a basket of house made chips (still warm) and fresh salsa, both are the best I've ever had. We both had the La Bandera enchiladas and they were delicious and quite a full plate. Total: $30 + tip.

Outstanding authentic Mexican food! Since Erie County is closed for dining in we took a short trip down the thruway to Batavia, NY and found this hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant and we were not disappointed. I went with the speedy Gonzalez lunch which in closed one hard shell taco, one enchilada and choice of rice or beans (I went with both!). My wife went with the lunch fajitas and we each had a margarita as well. The small margarita was big and the large was HUGE! Everything we had was tasty and very authentic and at a price that didn't break the bank ($45 including tip). Well worth the short ride from home!

Went in a party of 7 to Rancho Viejo. Started with in house made nachos and salsa, warm and fantastic. Followed by a very large Dos eqie draft yum. I got the Texas fajitas. Everything came out very timely, but as far as mine, the rice and beans were Luke warm at best. The chicken beef and fried veggies were good, but you can tell literally everything was made in advance even the meats, which didn't make alot of sense to me. I'm sure for Batavia there isn't much Mexican as there in Buffalo, but this wouldn't make top 10 in Buffalo at all

I was told they only do outdoors, with the truck. I need indoors for nursing home residents and staff (like trays of stuff for a buffet line or something). So unfortunately the truck doesn't really accommodate my needs. That's okay. Nobody can be everything to everybody, I get it. But I also ordered dinner, to go. I have a deep love for Mexican cuisine (more so authentic fast food and home cookin) that goes back as far as I can remember and I was eagerly anticipating THIS dinner. Now, I used to basically live on the California/Mexico border and ate in Mexico, in border towns and non-border towns. I've also cruised deep into Mexico. One of my mother's husbands was Mexican and so was one of mine. I've spent time in Mexican bush camps in southern Texas over a campfire cooking texmex with ranch hands, but I'm no foodie. I just have a little exposure and experience in this genre. So that really compels me to say that my dinner was less than impressive. Service was good for sure. The carnitas chimichanga I ordered was pure meat. On the side was some sour cream, guacamole (not enough of either) and plenty of shredded lettace underneath the condiments. The chips were good, but could've been warmer with more salt and salsa. I have to say that the food at this restaurant, while 'stylized' as Mexican, isn't really what you'd expect as Mexican (only marginally adjacent, I'm afraid). I truly didn't expect it to be authentic this far away from Mexico, but it really missed the mark. I saw tortillas, I saw stylized proteins and even salsa. I just didn't FEEEELLLL Mexico when I ate the food. The carnitas tasted like boiled shredded pork, I'm sorry to say. No spice, no heart, nothing Mexico about it.

It's easier to eat if you let it cool off just a little, otherwise it runs off of the nachos. For dinner, my wife had a vegetarian/vegan burrito and I had Cammerones Bravos (shrimp dish with nice, large shrimp, rice, salad, onions & peppers, avacado, and jalepenos). I asked for mine with avacado on the side, so I could give it to my wife). It is advertized as SPICY (in capital letters) and it is because these are not wimpy jalepenos. Perfect for someone who loves spicy food. You can customize the order on a dropdown online (which I did for the guac). Those not so into onions, jalapenos, etc, can customize that as well. It was a big meal! I also ordered refried beans on the side and was too full to touch them. I can testify from past experience, however, that they are delicious. I customized my wife's Vegan burrito as well, using the dropdown menu to exclude meat and dairy. It worked perfectly. Dinner comes with some nachos and salsa. Not to be confused with "Mexican Pradas", knock off handbags. Hidden in Albion, NY, this secret…read morespot has some of the very best tacos & sopes in the USA. Named after race-car driver Lorenzo Llamas. Luckily he doesn't use any of his infamous namesake "Llamas" as meat here. Gives new meaning to the query "como te llamas?" And to "alpaca lunch for you." Lorenzo's ex-wife is Shauna Sand, but she didn't teach him to make food this good. She looks like she's never had a taco in her life. Yet she does have a taco. It's well-publicized, everyone's seen it. But the point is, Lorenzo Llamas does not use Llamas to make his tacos. What to get: best authentic sopes & tacos this side of Steve Guttenberg's basement And: tortas are really good too Plus: real mexican sodas and coke with real sugar, plus free menudo on fridays Tips?: 5 types of salsa or more. Dark smoky red one is not always available but is the best. Yellow oily watery alcoholic one with big chunks of pepper in it is delicious. And: Amazing customer service. The teenage boy and young girl are absolutely adorable. The owners are great too. The female chefs are lovely, if very busy. They've served me at 8.57pm even though their food takes 15 min to make, and they close at 9! Fantastic. Warning: only open 3 days a week. Fri, Sat, Sun - late morning, until 9pm. Don't here too close to 9. If you do, then get it to go. If this were a high fashion taco outlet, it'd be Ralph Laurenzo's. Whereas if Mariska Hargitay owned it, it'd be Lorenzo & Order: Sope Victims Unit. But then we'd have problems, and I don't think we could solve 'um. The amazing smoky salsa does look like "bad blood" come to mention it. Not that I know much about blood. Unless I'm drinking it in the middle of the night while avoiding crosses. I can't believe this exists in WNY. Not only is it authentic, it's one of the most delicious taquerias in the country. It caters almost entirely to Mexicans. Several employees don't even speak English. It's part of a Latin grocery store filled with delights. But the true gems are the hot prepared foods coming out of the kitchen. They only make 3 things here, if you don't count the delicious, greasy Menudo they hand out free on Fridays. (1) Amazing tacos. (2) Even better Sopes. (3) Very good Tortas. While the tortas are fantastic and the bread is heavenly, I'd recommend skipping them, since (a) they cost $8, and (b) the $5 versions down the road in Medina (Monte Alban Truck) are even better and covered in Mexican white cheese. But if you do get a torta here, smother it in the smoky dark red salsa, and always ask for avocado on it. The food is from Chihuahua in NE Mexico, by the Texas border. The tacos are heaven. The sopes are better. They're similarly sized and priced (around $2 each or 5 for $7), but they're quite different. Tacos are floppy soft corn tortillas, 2-ply, loaded with bits of your meat of choice, plus onions and cilantro, then salsa, radish & lime on the side. Sopes are harder, thicker, greasier squidgy doughy chewy fried corn bases, like a mini pizza bases, topped with meat of choice as well as cream, cheese, onions, cilantro and whatever else. Similar to "picaditas". The sopes win, although both are perfect. Meat choices: Cabeza and Tripa - brain and intestines, nah. Lengua - tongue, nah, but my brother had it, loved it. Asada - bits of steak, delicious. Pollo - I usually skip chicken but the spiced, marinaded, smoky flavour here is amazing. Carnitas - really good stewed pork, give this one a try. Barbacoa - juicy, similar to Carnitas with beef. Worth a try. Pastor - star of the show. Dark, smoky, delicious marinaded pork. Asada, Pollo and Pastor are my faves. There's a reason Lorenzo's only makes 3 things, and why it's always packed. It's absolutely freaking delicious. Salsas: Green - hot, tastes a little of guac. Light Red - very hot, tastes of fire. Dark Red - hot, deep, dark, smoky and rich, by far the best one. Yellow - super hot, do not try it. Yellow with bits of peppers visible in it - hot, delicious, made with alcohol, the 2nd best. Try all 5 but be careful. They are so hot, they will burn your mouth out. Also you can get Jarritos soda (try Mandarina and Tamarindo) here. And Mexican Coke regular (1.85) and medio litro (2.50). All soda made with real cane sugar and you can really taste it. One of the best taquerias in the USA. You absolutely must get out here and try it. It makes no sense that Lorenzo's exists so close to Rochester and Buffalo - two cities with no authentic Mexican (except the home cooking of Buffalo's Valle - tacos and tortas are not the best items). Need affordable lease housing? Look for "low-rent-homes." Packet of mints just fell onto the floor? They're "low-mentos." Have an intimate knowledge of the former Fu-Gees singer? Then you know "Laurynsholes." And you know you'd better watch out. Some girls are only about that thing. But this is not that thing, nor any of those things. This is Lorenzo's.

I came here with some family who were visiting from out of town. We wanted somewhere that everyone could eat at since we have omnis, GFs, and vegans. Love that there were options for everyone. However, my partner and I ordered the guacamole azteca which came out with cheese clearly on it and mixed in. I asked the server immediately if it was cheese and he said no, they would never put cheese in it. I had my doubts but thought perhaps it could be finely minced garlic. So we started eating. About halfway through we hit a pocket of unmixed cheese and I stopped eating. Asked the server a second time who denied it was cheese. He claims he also asked in the kitchen and they assured him it wasn't cheese. Well, it was- I got sick that night. My vegan dinner was small- no rice or beans. Just two sad little enchiladas with very little filling. There was a pile of iceburg lettuce next to them with a small scoop of pico. But all in all, the meal is NOT worth the price. The vegan options were the same price or more than the meat options, but came out with half the food on the plate. I felt this meal deserved only 1 star, but the fact that there were vegan options on the menu bumped it up to 2 stars. I will not be going back, I would much rather eat elsewhere in a more quiet atmosphere where the servers and kitchen staff KNOW what they put dairy in.
