This restaurant has gotten worse. On a Friday evening we placed a pickup order. After we picked it up and drove it home we found the order wasn't correct and an entree was omitted. We called to advise of the error and instead of listening... the less than receptive person directed us to return the entire order while it was remade. We did so. When we reopened the order some 45 minutes later we discovered the same food from the original order ... now cold and wilted ... together with the missing entree which was also cold because apparently it was prepared earlier but not given to us. They said sorry. What poor customer service. The price was way more than on previous trips too. Avoid this place. read more

Stopped in after the Batavia fair and I'm glad we did this place had a beautiful atmosphere all hand carved booths and table and chairs not to mention the beautiful mural on the wall. I'll start with the positive, the beans and chicken tamales are great! Chips and salsa are good, hot sauce is amazing and everything I look for in a hot sauce. Rice tastes boxed, service is bad and nonexistent both times I came. Molcajete is the worst thing ever and belongs in the trash , I've never had one this bad before, it tastes like a frozen dinner. Tortillas are the fakest thing you can find. The kids burritos have a nasty Chef Boyardee sauce on top, burritos SHOULD NOT HAVE SAUCE ON THEM, burritos are meant to be pickup up so the second time I came I asked for no sauce and tasted like Taco Bell just more expensive. Food is good, but pricing is outrageous. I was charged $3 for a side of shredded cheese with my meal! The margaritas are all mix and zero alcohol. On top of that the waiter was rude every single time he came to the table. Jessica our server was outstanding. She let us enjoy each other's company at our pace and order apps and beverages to begin. We even had a second round and then placed our main order Being a party of three vegans, two in our party had some slight modifications which Jessica sorted for us easily. Mexican spot in the heart of Batavia. I visited at lunch during Christmas break, the place had a decent number of people, but we were able to get a table right away. They served chips and fresh salsa which were good. I got the 1/2 enchiladas supreme from the lunch menu. It was fine, nothing to write home about. One of the things I love about Mexican food is the spiciness and flavors and I found it lacking a bit. Service was friendly, a little under attentive but overall fine. I did ask for no sour cream but my plate came out with it on. Our server dropped in off and continued to another table, then upon walking back offered to take it back remembering the no sour cream, I declined but appreciated the notice. 4 1/2 stars! Son and I arrived in Batavia after a long drive and tried to go to two other restaurants, but both were closed for the town's Holiday weekend. I didn't really want Mexican food (since it is hard to top the quality we get back home in Central California), but we knew this was open and we were tired and hungry. Well my son picked a winner. This place was excellent. Very spacious inside and seating outside. The menu is extensive, they have a full bar, and prices are very reasonable. My son got his usual asada burrito, I got the El Combo plate, and I ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla for us to split. Well when my plates arrived (yes plural), I knew my son would be eating the quesadilla on his own. The El Combo has one of just about everything on the menu (see my photo) and is big enough for two people to get their fill. Everything we had was great, comparable to back home! I especially liked the fresh chips and salsa. For added entertainment we got to watch the local police get called due to a dine and dasher, but they caught him (he was just walking down the street, so I'll let you guess his mental state) and brought him back to pay his bill! I understand this isn't a big city by any means, but they can do better. During my stay in Batavia I ate here on two occasions. I dined in with them, and did a carryout. Dine In: It took over 10 mins for server to come over and acknowledge us. They were not busy by any means. Our server actually passed us twice before speaking. Once we ordered the food literally came out in less than 10 minutes... the food was good but nothing to shout out to the world. Carryout: Called in for this one. The man was not professional at all lol. I said my order and he hollered back "What?, what do you want" . When we walked in to pick up the order we had to ask for silverware... and chips and salsa. He said it only come with a small bag, which was fine. But how did he expect us to eat our food without silverware? I make trips to Batavia every Tuesday and Thursday and I always pass by this restaurant so I decided one weekend that I would give it a try, it was very welcoming, we were seated right away and we were also given nachos and salsa we have been there twice since then and we have ordered the same dishes which is the majara Frita which is fried tilapia and we also ended up getting Frozen strawberry daiquiris, the fish and the rest of the food came out steaming hot and it was delicious, I was literally licking my fingers, the customer service was great we were well attended to and taken care of, the restaurant is clean and very colorful it just has beautiful scenery and I am looking forward to going back again to get the fried fish that is something that you have to give it a try it is just beyond delicious, and I also like getting dishes that I don't make at home read more

May 10,'24. Went here for lunch at about 2:20p. We were seated immediately. The waiter was great, didn't get impatient when we took a while to decide what to order. I ordered enchiladas, and my daughter got fajita quesadilla. Both were excellent! We also got dessert, fried ice cream, and xango(?), basically fried cheesecake, and they were heavenly! Also, the decor is just amazing - the chairs and tables all had different designs, and they were quite pretty/ cute, depending. Ample parking. The chips were good but they advertise that extra chips are $2.99 per basket, who were the cheapskates coming in and filling up on free chips? Lame. We got a pitcher of margaritas but the kind of tequila I wanted said horni on the menu and I didn't feel comfortable telling the waiter I wanted a horni thing. Anyway, we got the margaritas and they were good but I had four without a buzz so probably weak. We got the "el combo" and it was a ton of food, meant for sharing. Above average Mexican. The place was surprisingly busy for lunch on a Monday at the end of lunch hour. I ordered the burrito de la raqueta from their lunch special menu. Essentially it was a small chimichanga with rice beans, and pico de gallo. But these flavors were totally authentic, delicious and savory. Someone in another review talked about the lack of spice. Well, there's not always alot of green or red chili in Mexican dishes. Sometimes they go toward savory. Little things like the rice and beans tasting just right. The main thing was the chimichanga. Chicken was delicious, and the tortilla was particularly good. One phenomenal lunch is not enough for me to go up to five stars yet. Since Erie County is closed for dining in we took a short trip down the thruway to Batavia, NY and found this hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant and we were not disappointed. I went with the speedy Gonzalez lunch which in closed one hard shell taco, one enchilada and choice of rice or beans (I went with both!). Everything came out very timely, but as far as mine, the rice and beans were Luke warm at best. Yelp ratings really let me down on this one. A 4 out of 5 should be a lot more than the disappointment we just had. I will start with the decor. Although it may appear put together, there is a lot of spackle and trim missing. After sitting down and having our chips, salsa and drinks being brought to the table rather quickly we placed our order for the guacamole app and 2 orders of the tacos carne asada. There was only 3-4 tables being occupied when we came in and 2 of those were finishing. It took almost an hour to get the guacamole app and then 5 min after that our entrees came out. Normally my critiques wait time out if the execution meets the expectation. In this case our entrees were missing the pico and sour cream it was to come with. The meat was over cooked and dry but yet it still wasn't hot. The server although knowing it was taking a long time didn't stop to see how we were doing or offer us more drinks during the one hour wait for our food. Worst of all the laughter and goofing around coming from the kitchen made it feel very uncomfortable sitting there for an hour for an appetizer. Completely unprofessional and no where near authentic. Churros had a cream filling in them and were also very good! Only slight miss was the house margarita, it didn't taste like it had much tequila, however, Monday and Tuesdays have $2.99 margs so that could maybe be why. I will try it again next time! The service was nice. The service time of my food was very quick. I ordered tacos Carne asada. It first came out as tacos Carnitas. I asked for corn tortillas and they came out with flour tortillas. I sent it back and waited on my tacos Carne Asada. They came out with a plate of tacos immediately. Not 60 seconds later. They also came individually wrapped in foil which leads me to believe they were not freshly made. As I unwrap the foil I became even more disappointed as you can see in the picture, the portions were extremely small and once again I still got flour tortillas and not the corn tortillas I ordered. The only thing that came out hot was the refried beans and rice. The interior was appeasing and well lit. Everyone I had an interaction with was very friendly. But we don't come to restaurants for appeasing interior. We come for the food. The food here left something to be desired and left me hungry. read more

Nice place over all, pretty typical Mexican menu, attentive staff, and very quick service. I cannot say anything better about this place. I ordered the Pork Carnitia's plate and it was what I expected. I would like to order it again the next time I go, but there looked like so many other yummy things on the Menu.
