Was staying at the hotel next door during a business trip. Every time I looked out the window from my room, I saw this Mexican food truck. It was always busy and packed! So, on day three, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. It literally took me 3 minutes to get there. As I approached the ordering window, I noticed a "People Love Us on Yelp" certificate, which definitely sparked my curiosity. I was greeted by a super polite and friendly gentleman. I told him it was my first time there, and he explained the truck's best-selling items. Everyone working there was incredibly friendly, and I even got to use my native language, Spanish. This is a food truck with a shaded area for waiting / enjoying your meal,which adds to the experience. It's a bit loud due to the proximity to water avenue. Totally expected and not a deal breaker. I ordered five tacos: two steak, one al pastor, one shrimp, and one campechano. I also ordered tortilla chips, which came with a bean and cheese dip. When I got back to my room and opened the container... wow. It looked glorious. Everything was absolutely delicious -- from the warm tortillas to the juicy steak, flavorful al pastor, savory campechano, and especially the shrimp tacos, which were the icing on the cake. The chips were perfectly seasoned, and that bean and cheese dip? Amazing. I was seriously impressed with this dinner. Simple, humble, fresh, and delicious. These guys clearly know what they're doing. Local Mexican food truck with a pleasant outdoor seating area. After hearing great reviews and being in the area, I stopped by for dinner shortly before they closed. The ordering experience and service was great! They have a large menu and offer Birria Tacos only on Fridays and Saturdays. Overall, the taco meat lacked flavor and was dry. Not sure if this was because it was later in the day and freshness wasn't there. The burrito was also quite small. Food: Ordered 2 chicken, 2 Al pastor, and 1 steak Mexican taco and a steak burrito. The chicken tacos were pretty dry and I didn't love the flavor of the carne asada. The Al pastor was definitely a favorite and the juiciest. The cilantro and onion topping also just wasn't the most fragrant or flavorful. My boyfriend was disappointed with the size, lack of flavor and overall burrito. It all just didn't really hit the spot. I did enjoy the salsa verde and avocado sauce. The tortillas were good too and I enjoyed how the tacos were double wrapped. Drink: I ordered the Horchata agua fresca and when it was first served it was a bit room temp, but once it chilled more from the ice I enjoyed the flavor more. One sure fire way to catch my attention is for a place to always be busy when I drive by. This Mexican food truck always seems to have a crowd at lunch time so when the wifey and I were deciding on our next meal Los Comparres came to mind. A quick drive from the house put us on site just as they opened at 11am. Our order was large since we planned for two meals each. The wife chose a taco trio for lunch. Chicken, Al Pastor and Shrimp with all the fixins' they include. She liked all 3 equally, her highlight was the fresh cilantro on each. For dinner she chose the Chicken Quesadilla which was also to her liking. I ordered her the XL size and it was massive, enough for 3 meals. For myself, I ordered 2 Burritos, Al Pastor and the Campechano and a large cup of Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche. Al Pastor is their marinated pork and that was my favorite. I got it with everything and it was loaded! I like a burrito that includes guac and sour cream with everything else. It was a tad smaller than what I expect but filled me nonetheless. I did have to pick tiny chunks of bone from my mouth however. The Campechano was a 3 meat blend and again I got all the fixin's. I did not like this one as much as the first not something I will reorder. I am looking forward to trying a couple others. My ceviche, which is available in 4 sizes, was tomato based and while it had a many of the traditional flavors it was not to my liking, the prevelant flavor to me was ketchup. The octopus was non-existant but the shrimp were very plump and juicy. It was the overbearing ketchup flavor that spoiled it for me. I tried their red and green hot sauces, they were not to hot, very manageable. My favorite was the red that was chipotle based. All in all a positive experience. I will be returning to try other things, I see this place becoming a monthly trend for me. Cost is reasonable and it's a quick easy option. I have never tried Los Comparres, since I usually hit a nearby competitor. Decided to make up for that tonight. Easy to find, plenty parking. Very friendly and helpful staff.... and communication is not an issue as they speak both Spanish and English. Ordered three Birria tacos with consomme and one Chorizo taco... and a Tamarindo Jarrito. Order was ready quickly, and I head home. Chorizo taco - I saw a previous review from Boon, that said some of the tacos he had were dry... and I agree, this chorizo was dry, flavor was ok, not great. Probably would not order again. I am used to chorizo that is greasy and full of flavor. Birria tacos - these were pretty good... not as flavorful as some others I had, and were definitely not "wet". Probably easier on the tortillas that way for to-go orders, expecially since you have consomme for dipping when you get home. Consomme was ok... not heavily spiced, but good to dip into. Salsas were good... and they give me three, Avocado, red and green. Jarritos are always good... love them. I am going to say three stars for the food... and an extra star for the service. read more

I was bummed when my beloved Los Comparres food truck on Armenia Ave. closed. But I was glad to hear that the Los Comparres II food truck was actually a convenient stop on my way home from work. I finally made it there and I have mixed reviews. The birria tacos were $3 each, and I thought they were very tasty, and the consume they were served with had good flavor. This location did not offer the vuelve a la vida ceviche, which was my all time favorite at the original food truck, so I went with their regular ceviche instead, described as shrimp and fish with cilantro, onion, tomato, and avocado. While the fish was fresh, it was definitely a disappointment compared to the ceviche I loved, as it did not have much flavor, and seemed very watery. I would definitely go back for the birria tacos, and I'd like to see how their shrimp burrito compares to the original truck's burritos. If you go, slow down when you get near the truck - it's easy to miss the entrance of the open gate. Also - the same in is out, so watch for leaving vehicles. Plenty of parking is available in the lot next to the food truck, and there are 3 picnic tables out front to eat at. read more

I have since moved so was very happy to see this location open closer to my parents house for when I am in Tampa. I told myself for 2023 I will do a better job of posting pictures with my review and that did not happen because the tacos were so good. This place is a food truck and a group of 5 of us went. This is as authentic as it gets when it comes to street tacos. I got 3 of the Asadas, it comes with onion and cilantro. I suggest going on taco Tuesday and taking advantage of the $1.29 taco special. The food is delicious and made fresh. You can get great quality food for less than a burger McDonald's. I suggest the El pastor tacos made the Mexican way with a little salsa Verde and a squirt of lime juice. You will not be disappointed by the quality or the price.
