guacamole + chips (not spicy) & salsa roja + chips
    Isabella G.

The chips and salsa/ guacamole were amazing. I was disappointed in the lack of flavor from the food in general, but the duck birria quesadilla was delicious, definitely recommend that. The service was very very fast and the music was popular and gave it a lively night life atmosphere. The chocolate gelato we got was also authentic and flavorful. Unfortunately I must say with all the other phenomenal restaurants in this area I probably won't pick bartaco first, but I do recommend that everyone go here at least once! It's a south Tampa staple spot.

Best Tampa Margaritas in town. Happy Hours is the time to check this spot out. Just get all the small bites menu and you still under $50 bucks! Chicken fluntas were top for me.

We stopped here while shopping in the Village for a quick bite. The food was excellent- came quick and was super tasteful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant vibe was cool with a full service bar and outdoor area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We put our name in, but found a seat outside quick. The wait ended up being about 30 minutes with multiple tables still open throughout the restaurant. We were here on a Saturday and it was very busy, so we didn't have the best service. We waited about 20 minutes after finishing our drinks and food to get our check. There were several tables around us that also didn't get served in a timely manner. This brought our experience down a bit since everything else was so great.

I normally love bar taco but after eating here this evening I didn't feel well. Unsure what it was but everyone in my party felt the same. I ordered the sampler with chips/guac - corn - plantains - and cucumber salad 2 tacos and tres leche for myself (we did share the app) so I am thinking it's something that was in the app. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also the fire alarm was going on for about 15 mins while we were waiting for our checks it felt like it would never end.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I normally really enjoy bar taco but this time my visit fell short.

This is literally one of my favorite places to eat in Tampa. The taco are perfectly sized, seasoned perfectly, the guac isn't watered down, the chips and tortillas are never stale, the cocktails are amazing, they have an entire mocktail section with fresh made agua del dias like honeydew and watermelon- the limeade is my favorite- and that's just the food. not only is their service always great (no one ever seems new or clueless) - but u can also order by scanning a QR code at the table. It automatically recognizes everyone coming from your specific table so every person can order by themselves via their phone with one tap and just keep ordering small plates as you keep eating. It means u don't have to wait for the server to keep coming around which is great. But you also still get a server who checks in with u and brings drinks. THE BEST PART IS U CAN DIVIDE the bill by splitting it any way u want and then can just leave. no waiting for the server for the check which to me is one of my pet peeves lol. Everytime I have come the food has always been consistent. there's a bar area if u want to mingle but also tables and booths. The location is also great bc it has great little shops around it, a mini fountain park across the street, and a GREAT homemade "gourmet" popsicle shop called Hyppo's which has everything from Johnnie walker peanut butter pops to horchata to strawberry basil.... great ending after my favorite Tex mex place. If u go there and don't like it something is wrong with you.

Tucked away in a Hyde Park, BarTaco delivers pure bliss with every bite. The street-style tacos burst with fresh, flavorful fillings--my favorite is the steak taco. Their guacamole is simply amazing, it's creamy and perfectly seasoned with just the right kick of lime and cilantro. Paired with inventive cocktails and refreshing margaritas that strike the ideal balance of sweet and tangy, it's a fiesta for the senses. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Warm service and lively atmosphere make it a must-visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend

pork belly + crispy rice bowl

I've visited Bartaco on multiple occasions. It's not a place I go to very often, but every time I've come here it hasn't quite exceeded expectations ~ especially when compared to many other restaurants in the Hyde Park area. Most recently, my sons and I stopped by during Gasparilla and waited about 30 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all considering the circumstances. Other nearby spots like Timpano had a 3-hour wait, and On Swann was completely closed, so Bartaco was definitely the more accessible option that day. Service is... fine. I can't say I've ever been blown away by it. One of the pros is that food comes out quickly, and they do replace water right away. That said, the QR-code ordering system seems to be the preferred method, and while traditional table service is still available, it sometimes feels like you're inconveniencing the server if you ask for it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm giving Bartaco 4 stars mainly because of the fun, lively atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, both the food and service consistently fall just short. I ordered the ahi tuna bowl, which was overwhelmingly salty from the amount of soy sauce and spice ~ so much so that I woke up in the middle of the night chugging water. My son's pork belly bowl was also extremely spicy, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you really enjoy fiery dishes. The tacos, on the other hand, are consistently good. Even though Bartaco is located in the heart of beautiful Hyde Park, surrounded by great shops and businesses, it's not one of my favorite taco spots. Having lived in California, I'll also say that truly good, traditional Mexican tacos are hard to come by in Florida.

Loved the ambience and service here. Located right in Hyde Park this location was packed when we stopped in for lunch on Sunday. Highly recommend adding yourself to their digital waitlist online. This doesn't guarantee you a seat. You still have to check in and it'll cut down your wait time. The food was consistent as the other locations. We ordered everything from the tuna rice bowl, duck Birria, chips with guacamole, Baja fish tacos and the ahi tuna tatako. All of the textures and flavors were on point. The food came out really quickly and our server was great. It's a great place to enjoy some margaritas and tacos. They have some nice vegetarian options as well.

I went to Bartaco in the morning for an event and ordered French toast. It was pretty good overall, although I prefer traditional French toast without the extra crunch. I wish it came with a side but it was still filling. I've been to Bartaco before for lunch and dinner. Their tacos are really good but small, street tacos. Service is always great!

Love the huge variety of tacos here. I ordered the pork belly, roasted duck, Baja fish, and mushroom tacos, and they were all so different yet equally delicious. I honestly couldn't pick a favorite because each one had something special about it. The fish taco was surprisingly crispy, the duck taco had an incredible sauce and was very filling, the mushroom taco was unique and the pork belly was probably the most flavorful. One thing that could be improved a little was the service. We ordered eight tacos and had to remind our server about two that were missed, even though they were clearly written down. We also had to repeatedly ask for water refills despite sitting directly at the bar. That said, the restaurant was extremely crowded and busy, so I don't entirely blame the staff. It might help to have water bottles available for self-refills or larger water glasses, as I found myself feeling thirsty throughout the meal.

Love coming to bartaco, the food is always solid and the margaritas are really good. I especially love the convenient QR code ordering system; it makes everything super fast and easy. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Hyde Park Village!

Ahi tuna, oysters, Baja fish, shrimp tacos
    Phillip B.

This taco spot is definitely popping. It was pretty busy when I went, but the service was still great. The tacos are a bit on the pricier side, but the quality makes it worth it. I ordered 2 shrimp, 2 Baja fish, 2 oyster, and 2 ahi tuna tacos, plus a key lime pie--came out to about $50. The ahi tuna was hands-down my favorite, easily one of the tastiest tacos I've ever had. The shrimp, oyster, and Baja fish tacos each had their own distinct flavor profiles, which I really enjoyed. The key lime pie was just okay--served in a jar instead of a traditional slice, which isn't my preference. The guac and salsa were great, though. Overall, definitely a spot I'd recommend!

We REALLY love this contact bar! Great location, and it is super popular so be prepared to wait for a table. Spicy margs and allll the tacos are highly recommended! Also LOVE the guacamole!

All was inviting, and a great way to remove yourself from the very busy atmosphere of the Marriott lobby which was crowded. We sat at the bar since we loved to be surrounded by the activity of the place. We started off with their special spicy margarita and ceviche. Loved that it was more Peruvian style, and not the tomato based one. More my preference of the lime taste. Then for dinner my husband had the strip steak, and I had the chicken fajitas. Both were flavorable, especially the sides, especially the corn cake type side, that were served with the strip steak. Both were seasoned well. My husband's flank steak, though delicious, was overcooked. The bar tender was attentive and answered all our questions about the menu, and provided some great suggestion including which entrees were most popular and also her favorites. Definitely will come back. Will also order the carne asada again but make sure to tell the server to cook the steak more medium rare than medium.

We started with chips and salsa which set a great tone, the tortilla chips were perfectly salty and the salsa was solid, no notes there. It was also Taco Tuesday which means one free drink with a taco order, so naturally I had a classic margarita (also solid!) and went with the al pastor tacos because the sweet plantains on top had my name written all over them. Full disclosure: our waitress actually recommended the chicken, carne asada, or birria... so I can't say I wasn't warned lol! The pork did run a little dry, but the flavors were genuinely enjoyable and the authentic corn tortillas were a highlight for me. The yucca fries were a touch dry as well but still decent with the accompanying sauce. My friend also let me try her octopus, not typically my thing, but the flavors were nicely done! Honestly this feels like one of those spots where I just ordered the wrong things for my first visit, which means I have to go back and do it right. The chicken, carne asada, or birria are calling my name next time. Would definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you can catch happy hour!
