Was having trouble finding somewhere to grab dinner...nothing sounded too appealing, so I jumped on Yelp and found the Loli's Tacos was highly recommended and had a lot of reviews. Ok, this is where I'll grab some food. Popped in and was quickly greeted, as I looked over the menu at the counter the girl stepped up and asked if she could help me, she gave me a few recommendations. I went with a couple different tacos, a pork tamale and a bag of chips. I have to apologize, I almost always take pictures of the food before shoveling it into my mouth, but I was hungry and this looked delicious. I pictures. The reviews weee unquestionably correct and this place is incredible. My favorite (which was difficult to pick just one) was the Campechano taco...the flavor was out of this world. I had a steak taco and the pork tamale...absolutely incredible. I hate to rave about something without some sort of criticism...nothing can be perfect right? Well, the food was spot on, don't change a thing. My only small poke would have been that the bottled Coke was cold, but not ice cold...and if that's the most negative thing you can say, well then...this place is a 10 out of 10. Lolis is a staple in the area - it's authentic and never leaves you wanting in flavor. This location is small, not much seating inside - we opted for online ordering and pickup for this reason, but it definitely doesn't deter us from ordering food from here! We ordered the birria tacos and the carne asada sope along with a side of esquites. The birria tacos were really tasty - the consumme had a fantastic flavor, probably one of the top 3 birria's I've had in Tampa for sure. The carne asada sope was also really good, I don't order sope very often, but I really enjoyed it from Lolis. The esquites is something I could eat like 4 bowls of lol - it's just so good! This was my boyfriend & I's first stop after landing in Tampa and before heading to our AirBnB. It was a good first stop on our food adventure here! We always go for Mexican and this place didn't disappoint. We ordered 3 steak and 3 birria tacos. I loved how they came with the grilled onions cause those are a favorite! The green avocado sauce was on point and a great touch to the taco. The birria hit the spot but the crispiness of the tortilla was a little weird - my boyfriend said the same. Decided on Loli's tacos for lunch today. When I got there, I saw Quesabirria tacos on the menu... so had to order those. Also ordered an Elote (Mexican street corn). Got it all to go. Service was great... although with the music they had playing in the background, I had trouble hearing the young lady at the counter. She was softspoken, and all my hearing was picking up was the music. But we got her done! After a short wait, they brought the food out... and it smelled so good. So I headed home. Got home, opened up the bags of food, and it looked delicious. The Elote looked really good, all covered with cheese and tajin. I dug in... the tacos were good... as good as any other quesabirria I have had here in Tampa. The dipping broth needed salt... but no big deal. The provided hot sauce was delicious (so much that I actually drank what was left after the meal, lol). The Elote was juicy, and sweet... nicely counterbalanced by the delicious cheese and tajin on it. All in all a great. Best for to-go but there are 5 tables inside that seat 12 people in total . Outside some more room with a few bar tables and picnic tables. Hot fresh and handmade tortillas. I had a fish taco and chicken taco. The fish was crunchy and the slaw topping was crunchy and fresh as well. The chicken taco was flavorful, topped with veggies and avocado, and had a good amount of juice that made it messy, but still tasty. Taco Tuesday craving had to be satisfied. I tried three tacos: Al pastor - ok, not bad, nothing special Lengua - very soft and tender pieces of meat savory and very faintly gamey. Wonderful. Fish - Big ole perfectly fried piece of white fish Three tacos where more than enough for a meal. The lengua and fish tacos both came wrapped in two tortillas; I would ask for just one each next time to focus more on the ingredients and to be less super full. The tacos came with a spicy red salsa, a creamy green salsa, and grilled onions. My wife liked her veggie quesadilla. Adding chips, guac, and an horchata, our meal came out to about $40 after tip, maybe just a touch more than I would have liked to have paid. These are my favorite birria tacos in all of Tampa. I'm lowkey a birria snob and I'm super picky about where I order them now because I've had enough to know what's good and not good. These tacos are so delicious I literally order them every week. I am usually a hard taco shell fan but when it comes to soft tacos ...Lolis is the best. I have had the fish, shrimp, pork and beef tacos. My girlfriend & her family have been coming here for years and the service has been subpar. The food is always decent. But lately, the service sometimes skimps on portions and they have messed up 3 orders in the last 3 visits, (missed a whole plate of food all together) as recent Sunday, the 23rd. She has to check her order before leaving just to make sure. As an example, instead of fixing her plate, they added avocado to a veggie taco that didnt have this specific toppings. Small weird building off Benjamin road bright pink?! I think probably some fancy color name, but you don't come here for aesthetic value. You come here for the Mexican food! I tried a fish taco today and wow, hot crispy fish mixed with avacado, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and sauces. It was fantastic, juices dripping off my hands the 7 big napkins helped! The ribeye taco was great too, big sautéed onions on the side smashed on top of the pretty good ribeye meat. The inside looks like my grandma's house from the 40's, plain, old school structure. The smell hits you right inside the door. Do yourself a favor and swing by Loli's, you will never go to taco bell again. The shrimp taco was loaded with shrimp onions. The fish taco was breaded and crunchy. The Beef Tongue was meaty but lacking a little in the flavor dept. adding the sauces helped to cover it up but, like good bar-b-cue, the meat should be able to stand on its own without sauce. Oh boy this place is the bomb! If you are looking for great, cheap Mexican food- this is the place! I saw great reviews and was not disappointed. My fam came and thought we can sit down for late lunch but there is no dining in. You can call and order to or go inside and order, then the stuff will bring you the food to your car. The Basics: Lolis is an authentic Mexican restaurant located in the Carrollwood area. There does not currently appear to be indoor seating at this spot, but it is crowded with take-out and to go orders. A must for some of the best tacos in the Tampa area! Things I like: I tried multiple kinds of tacos and they were all amazing. They were so fresh and authentic. They use delicious corn tortillas and the meat was all cooked perfectly. Lolis has about six or seven different kinds of tacos to choose from. They also provide a lime wedge, onions, and some sauces with the orders to add to your tacos for more flavor. Loved everything I tried here. Things I didn't like: I need to explore this location more, but it does not appear to have any dining room/ spaces to eat. I am not sure if this is always the case or if it is because of the current climate with Covid. Everyone was getting orders for take-out. It would have been nice to have a place to sit, but I understand if it is because of a health precaution. Overall, AMAZING, fresh, and authentic tacos. Normally a huge fan of this place. Probably spent more money here over the past 7 years than most people. But with that said, I know what the quality should be of this place and the way that it's gone down. For the past 6 months or so, the sopes quality have become very poor. Usually, they have a standard amount of meat, beans, cheese, etc; however, here lately, the employees have been cutting corners when making these. I typically order 6 to 8 with each of my orders one place and just to be known all my orders are always over $100 each therefore I order a lot and I order very frequent. See the picture attached as these are the quality of the sopes here lately. Definitely not worth The almost doubled price increase from where they were years ago. This place did not disappoint. I started my order online and waited until my pickup time at 8pm to get them. Even at 8pm this place is busy. Cars were rolling in and out of the parking lot. I did have to wait about 20 extra minutes for my food but it was so good I didn't even care. The staff there was super friendly and helpful. They brought the order to the car and apologized for the wait. Every taco I had was amazing. The guacamole was in my top 5 of all time. All in all this was a fantastic choice for taco Tuesday.
