Located within Armature works, at the far right end of the food hall. The service was quick considering it was Saturday lunch hour. I ordered the Birria tacos, which comes with your choice of mild, medium or hot sauce. I choose mild, then after asked if they can put some hot on the side as I wanted to give 1 of the tacos to my husband to try with the hotter sauce. They added $2 to the bill, which I politely had them remove immediately. Wasn't happy about that up charge. Anyhow, I was recommended that this place would beat my favorite Birria taco spot in Brandon, so welcome to a showdown. The 3 Birria tacos here for $16, is $1 more expensive than my fav spot. The tacos are smaller here, less meat and cheese, and had a tortilla deep fried aspect that wasn't too shabby. Gave it a nice crunch. However you kinda lose sight of that with the oily broth and taco meat. The flavor was good, I didn't even taste the mild sauce, the birria broth was also flavorful but a bit too greasy IMO, and the side of salsa condiment (included) was the only thing I would say was amazing. Overall it IS a good birria taco but doesn't come close to topping LCT (acronym). The overall ambiance is food hall, always well kept and plenty of seating. So to answer the magic question if I would return or not, yes I would but only if I was at the food hall already. They are a good Birria taco and better than many other places. read more

There's a reason the line is crazy at peak hours! I went twice while I was in town even though there were plenty of restaurants in Tampa I wanted to try out. The quesabirria tacos might just be the best I've ever had. I loved them so much. Super messy, super good. If you aren't familiar with Armature Works, (muchachas is inside) it's a food hall (home town equivalent Reno Public Market) but this one sits on the water of Tampa Bay, there is a ton of seating inside and out but it still gets busy as this is also near the riverwalk. It looked like a lot of people in front of me were ordering like you would at Chipotle where they make it right there and you get it at the end immediately, mine I had to wait for a minute to be cooked. With so many different food options available inside of Armature Works, it can sometimes feel a little chaotic to know what type of food you want. On this day in particular, I wanted something that was fast and fresh. I came across Muchachas, and it not only looked delicious, but I love places where you can build your own bowls. I chose a rice base with chicken, roasted corn, pico de gallo, guac, cheese, and just a drizzle of avocado crema, which was highly recommended to me by the staff member preparing my bowl (and it was a great choice, might I add). The portion size was great and definitely sharable or can even be saved for lunch the next day. The rice was restocked right before I ordered, so my bowl was extra hot. The guac was delicious and very fresh tasting, which paired well with the other flavors in my bowl. The next time I have Muchachas I would love to try their queso. They have a good selection of soft drinks. If you care to have something a bit stronger, there are several bars inside. Lastly, seating is a premium, especially on the weekends. The best thing is, if you're able, find a seat first and have someone hold it for you. It can also be a bit loud inside. Outside is a good choice too as they sometimes have live music. Let me just say I had HIGH expectations for this place and in no way did it disappoint. They are super informative of all the options and they walk you down the line while building your walking taco answering any questions you may have. I've been to Armature Works plenty of times but never to Muchachas, though I've always heard such great things so since I was near by I decided to check it out and boy am I glad! For starters the service was great. You start at one end and pay at the next then get a buzzer for when the food is ready. It wasn't a long wait at all which was a plus. They seemed to be the busiest at the time I was around, which is also always a good sign. The tacos were AMAZING. Flavor wise, they are definitely the best I've ever had and I've tried so so many, even in the Tampa Bay Area. I will be dreaming about these for awhile and will for sure be back to get them soon. Wow, food here is very expensive for their walking tacos. it's made to order so you'll be able to pick what you like inside the bag of Doritos. I believe cheese sauce is extra cost as well. Definitely one of the best birria tacos I've ever eaten. They also had the option to top your street corn with different sauces and so I just the avocado lime ranch and it really kicked it up a notch flavor wise. Reminds me of most other quick service Mexican restaurants - like a Chipotle, Moe's etc. as you go down the line choosing what you want - I got a burrito with steak, rice, salsa, corn, jalapeños, cheese, onions & peppers. Love Armature Works and their concept of multiple restaurants in a single building. However so much of the food is way overpriced and lacks the quantity the hungry need to feel they got their due fill. When you spend $20 for a meal you don't want to feel it was just a snack. I love Mexican food so keep ending up at this place when visiting. The go to thus far is their burrito, which can be filled with various meats of your choice. The size is pretty good too. Where I struggle is that for around $16 for most meats you don't get any chips/salsa without adding $7 or $8 to your bill. And adding a spoonful of guacamole for $2.50 is ridiculous. I don't recommend the quesatacos. They are way too greasy and come with little more than beef inside the fried shell. The flavor just isn't there on this one. Drinks....I like that they have pineapple soda in a bottle. But what kind of logic is present when they want $3 for a bottled water but only $2 for a can of soda? Another "healthy" is more expensive than what is not. Best to bring your own since the Armature Works restaurants no longer offer complimentary water. And parking. They are now ticketing $30. I paid for two hours and came back 4 minutes after expiration to a team of several meter maids handing out tickets like candy on almost every car. They just started ticketing and the guy said once he pressed the button on his machine that he couldn't take it back even when I showed him it just expired two minutes before he left the ticket. Ridicculous. I'm done with Armature Works if this is how the city is going to handle people spending their hard earned money here. read more

When you look at their queso birria tacos, you think OMG I must have those. The flavor was good but they were an absolute mess to eat. You could barely pick them up without your fingers poking through the softened shell from the juice that was already soaking through. The "Juice" for dipping was useless as the tacos were already soggy AF. It also didn't add any flavor. I'm fairly new to this style of tacos and when done right (IMHO), the tacos still have integrity and crunch, the sauce is super flavorful and adds that extra richness to the beef and cheese inside. While these tacos are picture worthy, they are not worthy of more than 2 stars for this disaster of a dish. Tacos are my favorite food and I'm ashamed for the name Tacos due to these mushy piles of taco casserole. The staff was friendly and the food was delivered quickly, so that's a plus. Maybe some of their other dishes are good, but unless you want to look like you just ripped someone's heart out with red juice all over your hands, I'd skip this place. That's BEFORE you try and dip. So it's kind of funny how certain things are common place in other places and how they are a novelty here . Enter the queso birria taco it's a tortilla with a crispy cheese crust made by throwing cheese on the griddle , crisping it and encasing a tortilla with the cheese it's so simple and very delicious :) the birria was very tasty and the consommé not pictured is the dipping sauce . Consommé is a beef broth made from the seasonings of the beef inside the taco . They do it very well here 8.5/10 delicious The big ole burrito is given with 2 options closed or open face . Open face is a unwrapped burrito and suitable for those who don't want to use their hands . I've had the steak here and found it a little tough and too heavily seasoned. This time I opted for the chorizo which was an awesome choice, it's got the classic chorizo spices and to my surprise it was in bigger chunks than I'm used to which is fine ! The burrito assembly itself was similar to chipotle's pick your vegetables , beans , sauces etc do make sure to get the spicy crema sauce it's a perfect companion to the salsas and burrito as a whole. 8.5/10 again this place is excellent read more

The rice and beans are honestly one of the BEST I have ever had. So flavorful !!! The rice is well seasoned and is soft, unlike a lot of places where the rice becomes dry and hard. I usually don't order beans unless they are refried because most of the time they are under-seasoned. But not here my friends.
