I had the fish that's called la mojarra and it was good, although it wasn't as fluffy as some other ones I had but overall it was delicious. All of us in our table got them. It's crazy to think that people can't be more professional when it comes to work and leave personal life behind. The server knew my partner from years ago from her personal life due to a family member. This was years ago yet she seemed to not be able to do her job & was being immature. Came here with my girlfriend on Cinco de Mayo for lunch. It's a new restaurant in Watsonville, and I pass by this place all the time. Im really glad we gave it a try. The restaurant is spacious and was really busy, but the servers were attentive and checked on us often. I had one of their fried fish plates, and it was so delicious! I had it with the Chipotle sauce, which was quite spicy.. I really liked it. It was nice to wash it down with their decked out michelada! The fish came whole, and it was crispy and flakey. So yummy! Great service. Even when busy, food arrives pretty fast. This is by far my #1 Mexican restaurant. My favorite are their pastor tacos and burritos. I think their bean and cheese burritos are the best in town! I especially love Taco Tuesday when most tacos are half price. The chips and salsa are great too. I often wish I could eat more because I want to try everything on their menu! Paper plates and plastic utensils for a la carte items, but I don't mind. Can't really hold conversations on karaoke nights, but there were good singers the few times I was there. I also often do take out. Now that I've done this review, I'm craving a burrito! I really enjoyed this restaurant. I liked the food. The ambiance is nice with traditional heavy carved Mexican tables and chairs, and festive banners. It's spotlessly clean. The wait staff was competent and friendly. We shared all of the dishes we ordered! First, the chips and salsa were great. House made, thick, crunchy chips with a wonderful fresh, dark, chunky salsa that had a bit of heat. The star of the meal were the shrimp empanadas! Oh, my little pony! These were deep fried and filled with a saucy thin crema and chunks of fresh snappy shrimps. The crisp pastry, the creamy sauce and the snappy shrimp along with the super hot salsa verde make these a taste sensation! You have to eat these! On the ceviche front, we ordered the mango plate with shrimp and fake crab, the mixta tostada with all sorts of seafood, and the fish tostada. The mango plate was really well balanced with sweetness from the mango, orange, and shrimp versus the lemon/lime juice. The mixed ceviche was very tasty but just a touch too acidic with over "cooked" seafood that was a bit chewy. I liked the fish tostada as it wasn't so lemony and the fish was tender. We also ordered the Chile Verde plate special. The sauce was so fresh tasting. The pork was nice and lean, but a bit dry. Still, it was delicious. The refritos and arroz were treated with importance and also had very nice flavor. I'm looking forward to many return trips! read more

This place is around the corner from my shop and the boys have been telling me that the burritos are delicious so I decided to pick some up for me and my love one day for lunch. He got the Asada burrito. I had a chicken burrito both super. We also got a plain cheese quesadilla The food is bomb very traditional. It feels like you're going to someone's house and they're hooking you up with a nice little plate to go home. The girls were very nice and the food came out quickly. There was plenty of parking, cute place to sit outside and eat if you feel like it, they also have a drive-through! Yes, you heard that right they have a drive-through! We will definitely be going back and when we do, I'll take some pictures. Just wanted to fill everybody in on this traditional little gem here in Salinas . Went here for a light lunch on a Wednesday and had a Camaron Ceviche Tostada which was delightful. But I was most impressed with the service. There were 3 wait-staff on the floor and during my $12 meal, at one time or another, all 3 of them checked in to see if I needed anything. Not overbearing, just helpful. I don't remember this place being this good. The service was great, the staff was friendly. We tried the tostadas de ceviche and I added pulpo (octopus). The fajita was really good and fresh. Im very surprised that this place doesn't have higher reviews! I was skeptical because I read all of the reviews first and wasn't sure what to expect. I came here for lunch on a Thursday and although it was busy I still feel like the staff accommodated my table accordingly. What really stood out to me was the variety of dishes they had. The menu is about five double sided pages and there is something for everyone. They even had sushi!!! I'm a seafood lover so I ordered the mango ceviche and a shrimp taco. Both items were fresh and delicious! A bill for two people (without drinks) will run you around $40 which is pretty reasonable considering it's fresh seafood. I love this place during weekdays! Taco Tuesdays are delicious! But stay away on weekends due to loud music and the wait is incredibly long. The food is delicious! Recently came here to eat with my family. The food was very good. I had an order of tacos gobernador, they were very tasty similar to those of miches and ceviches which are my favorites. The Ambiance is very fitting to the style a food the serve. The have some very imposing solid wood tables and chairs that you would see in Mexico. Decor is very appropriate the only knock I would give them is that the waiting staff have the music up way to loud and them being fairly young play their choice of music which is not fitting to this style of restaurant. They had quite a bit of the modern Mexican music narco regional cross over with some peso pluma etc. A more mariachi style would fit them more and at a lower volume. The service was fast and attentive and I liked the food. I would recommend it's nice to see this area of Watsonville come back to life after so many years of it being vacant. read more

I had been here about 30 years ago when it was a different owner. My son was told by a friend it has great food so we went to dinner there after washing clothes. It was busy but not noisy. Me and my son ordered tacos and I also had the quesadilla. Both were really good. The chips and salsa were yummy as well. My wife had the caldo de res but felt it tasted bland. And while the staff was so lovely and so friendly and did so much to make us feel welcomed, the food was not at the same level. I ordered the chimichanga and there was so no way this was fried. None. It tastes bland and I'm pretty sure the only cheese I got was a bit sprinkled on top. My guests said the fajitas were good but nothing special while the fish was bland. This truly bums me out. Wow!!!! The reviews are right! I stopped by and had a the chavela and it was awesome! I also had a tostada de ceviche de camaron and it was delicious! My two complains are 1. The booths suck! Don't sit at the booths they are old and dirty and not screwed down well. 2. I ordered the coctel de camaron and it was extremely bland. They bring out the ketchup so you can add if desired. It made it better but I wish it was already in it. Service was great both waitresses were friendly and fast!!! The beers are awesome! Check them out! read more

TACO TUESDAY $1 tacos! the landmarks used to get to this place was "its right next to the l'amour shop" we got there 10 min until closing and they still were able to sit us down and take our orders. The waitress was nice, place was well lit, a few tvs in there wasnt too packed at the time we arrived the only thing that sucks is that they were out of chicken, carnitas and pastor so we had to settle for asada tacos. the shrimp/fish tacos are only $2. We werent in the mood to drink but there were tons of good looking drinks/chavelas. they even serve sushi after wednesdays and on weekends. My fav part is the $1 tacos not bad for $1, there was a juke box so there is potential to get lit in there and to be the spot. I would def return for cheap tacos and good company and hopefully to try their drinks and sushi soon! read more
