This food was nearly revolutionary and close to incredible. Everything I tried was amazing. That shrimp was demolished by myself however. I've never had shrimp that good, that fantastical, that beautiful. I will cry happy tears when that shrimp and I reunite once more in my mouth. Service was good no complaints. I came here with three other guests after we heard that this place had Mexican food most similar to what we miss from California. I ordered the birria tacos and one of my guests ordered the quesabirria, both of which being almost entirely flavorless. The consommé was oily and lacked any flavor whatsoever. The only thing I enjoyed was the meat inside. My other two guests enjoyed their burrito and mojarra frita, so the experience may depend on what you order. I did feel the food was overpriced, though -- our chips and salsa alone were $8. Our waiter was very kind, but unfortunately not very attentive. We waited quite a while for our check, and my water was never refilled. On a positive note, one of my guests asked for avocado and was brought an entire sliced avocado, which ended up making for some inexpensive homemade guacamole. read more

We wanted to try a new place for Cinco De Mayo and boy we were not ready for how bad it really was..... sit back and be prepared for this review. Upon going to this place we were greeted with friendly people and we decided to sit outside. Once sat we waited a good 10-15 minutes before we got our drinks. We ordered 2 margaritas and I kid you not it was the WORST one I have ever had. It tasted like the sour mix was bad and it was so small it was NOT worth the $12 price tag. I ordered the Burria Burrito for my son. He wanted the guac and fries on the outside of the burrito. Upon getting the burrito it looked good on the outside however the inside was like mush. It was not good. The only thing he actually liked was the burrito shell. For me and my boyfriend we ordered Nachos Asada as our appetizer. It was small and used the same beef as the Burria Burrito. Then as our meal we ordered the Fajitas....they didnt even look like Faijtas..... they looked like they cooked the meat in curry or something. They had the weirdest yellow/orange color. I tasted one bite and instantly almost threw up i literally gagged. This was the worst excuse for mexican food I have EVER had in my life. The only thing that saved anything was the server being nice and comping the fajitas. I will NEVER be back though. Delicious and authentic food with great service. We especially enjoyed the Taco Toppings Bar, which had an extensive list of ingredients, including sauces, vegetables, and spices. The guacamole was outstanding and the chips were great, too. Some of you may remember the Tin Front Cafe, well Los Galitios is now in that space. Los Gallitos got it right - birria tacos were rich and flavorful and cooked perfectly. They got a taco topping bar which I didn't use, but it's there if you want something extra. Also tried the carajillo cocktail made with licor 43. That, along with the burning cinnamon stick, gives lots of interesting characteristics popping out (think coffee, citrus, spice, vanilla). I sat at the bar but saw a large table was seated at the end of its, so good for groups. Also has patio seating out back. People were super nice too. I would love to come back here. read more

This spot is a little out of place in homestead but do not let that fool you. We stopped in at 1pm for some late breakfast and it did not disappoint. The food was so good and very fresh. The service was great and we were in and out pretty quickly. If you're looking for delicious, authentic Mexican quinine, this is the place for you. I can't wait to go back. read more

I'm very interested to see how this place is doing in another 6-8 months. This is a very new restaurant in Homestead, and I was surprised by the clean and modern design of the space. It felt more like something I would find in East Liberty than Homestead. The menu on the web site includes all the Mexican fare you would expect, but it isn't clear that every item on the menu is consistently available. As an example, the site lists a brunch menu, but it doesn't seem to be available even on Saturday around noon. Menu confusion aside, the food was all very good. We ordered takeout and got some vegetarian tacos and quesadillas (i.e., with the rajas and papas filling). There's a topping bar in the restaurant itself, and the staff encouraged me to load up my take-out containers with toppings like pico de gallo, pickled red onions, cilantro, etc. The toppings were a nice touch, but trying to open up and dress my various takeout containers was less than optimal. That having been said, I don't see much of a better option for making the toppings available. It's also worth noting that beans and rice are available on the side, but aren't automatically included alongside entrees. That seems perfectly reasonable to me, but it's a divergence from most Mexican restaurants in the area. My biggest takeaways are that the tacos were great, the topping bar was a nice touch, and I would personally like to see a few more vegetable forward menu items. Noticed the open sign and it was lunch time so stopped in. The owner waited on us and was very friendly and helpful. We ordered take out. Had the 3 tocos for $12. There is a table with the garnish and sauces. Really enjoyed the chorizo, al pastor and champechano tacos. Really a nice place and friendly service. I was kind of disappointed by this place. The prices are good and so are the portions, but the quality of the food is just OK. I came in for a very simple meal, trying their pulled pork quesadilla and chicken quesadilla. First, I couldn't really tell which was pulled pork and which was chicken because they just use so much cheese. Which, I do like cheese, but it was a bit much. The quesadilla also wasn't really toasted so it was a bit soggy. The one I believe was the pulled pork was too fatty. There were little globs of fat throughout and I just don't enjoy that so I can't recommend it too much. But, the portion is amazing for the price. All in all, if you're looking for decent cheap food, this is a nice spot. But, the meat is too fatty and quality is a bit questionable. read more

OK, I know they had seven health code violations, but that was before they open their doors... When I walked in the place it was was very clean. The owner waited on me, showed me the kitchen because I worked in kitchens before and we were talking in English and in Spanish. He is aware of the health code violations from the day before they opened and everything has been cleaned and he showed me he really cares and it was really decent of him to show me the kitchen ... All right, so back to the real deal the food was the service were amazing. The atmosphere is beautiful, just maybe put a TV or watch some football or NFL. If you want to support a local restaurant, this is the place to come. If you come around 2 o'clock you can eat with the family and it's amazing . If you're one of those types of people that look at only the health violations, you're gonna miss out on really really good food and like I said the place is very clean now... read more

Nice servers. We ordered a choripollo burrito, it was mostly all rice. We order tacos Al pastor, it came with no pineapple and no toppings just the meat and was so greasy. We also order birria tacos and flautas which were okay compared to the other foods. DO NOT ORDER THE SALSA, it tasted like pizza sauce. I would go here for a beer and some guacamole. WOAH - this unassuming place in a not-so-nice part of town is SO good, SO authentic. Found it by accident, & boy am I happy we did. Got takeout, though I will say, the interior is nice but a bit unusual. No one was there during the lunch hour around 2pm - but it was Sunday. Maybe not busy for lunch in that area? ‍ The main dining area is kind of sectioned off behind doors/interior windows, it appears. The bar is nice - large & open, & there appears to be a cute little outdoor dining area/patio at the very back with little white light ringing an area with peach exterior walls. The food, aka- the star! Husband & I each got the 3-taco option. Hurrah - homemade corn tortillas!! I stumbled on what has to be the best option for filler / Rajas & Papas: creamy potato/poblano mixture that was just a flavor explosion. YUM! The Al pastor taco was just pretty good - the pork a bit dry & no taste of pineapple. The guacamole was outstanding - creamy, flavorful, & a bit chunky. The chips appeared to be homemade - crunchy & not too salty. You got a tiny salsa/pico/cilantro/topping bar for make-it-yourself teeny to-go cups (ack, the plastic waste - but a nice option). I love this place. We all know that taco places are everywhere now, but finding an exceptional taco place is another matter. This place is totally legit, and the tacos are authentic and amazing. Many other places dress up their tacos with inauthentic toppings and sauces, but a great taco should let the simple/main ingredients stand out. That is how the food is here. The tacos are more like a "street taco" style with an excellent fixings bar to finish it however you like. I took a trip to Cabo this year, eating tacos almost every day. I seriously loved these tacos more than any that I had there. I've tried most of the tacos now and they are all great, but my favorites are the carnitas, chorizo and birria. There are also several other things to try besides tacos, and the quesadilla, tamales and empanadas were also excellent. Service is very friendly and prompt, interior is beautiful, and there is a cute outdoor space which I am told will be open soon. If you love authentic Mexican food, you will know that it is hard to find in Pittsburgh. This place is definitely where you can find some! read more

We went for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. Our meal started with some horchata and aqua de jamaica. Both were delicious and refreshing. I was very excited to try their birria tacos with consommé since they're a personal favorite, and it did not disappoint! The tortillas were nicely fried with the rendered fat from the stew. The consommé was rich and flavorful. We also ordered tacos al pastor, chicken and beef tamales with a side of fried plantains. The tamales were on the denser side for me, but my husband prefers them that way. All in all, we had a really fantastic meal and the service was exceptional. We look forward to going back and trying some chilaquiles for breakfast! read more
