Came in here one day to get some tacos and was shocked that it wasn't what I thought it was. This is definitely a modern style Mexican place that's basically carry out only. They have 3 high tops however. Everything is al la carte also. They are way too expensive. 6 tacos for 33$ is very expensive. Their bowl was 9$ and you didn't get much with the selection. You could do a build your own for 14$. I'm not sure if it's for the area the process, but it's not price friendly. The flavor was there however. The food wasn't bad. The portion for my bowl was not that filling, but the flavor was good. They have a very limited selection of things to pick from as well. Again, everything is al a carte. Staff weren't unkind, but they were very busy that day. There was a 20 minute wait for our food (was not cinco de mayo). Due to the pricing and portions and limited selection, I don't think I would try them again personally. Flavor was great, but not worth the price I feel. read more

I wish them well and I will give it another try, but as others have noted, the market is oversaturated. There is too much competition to come here regularly. I tried a carne asada and chicken tacos. At the prices, the food has to stand out, it does not. Pros: nice design/menu board inside but small limited seating, good tortilla taste, green salsa verde and guacamole were really good, the chicken was solid, steak was cut into nice sized cubes, green chimi sauce on the steak taco was tasty (could use a little more). Cons: steak taco was tough (which is huge no no and red flag - bad day or is this normal?), the hot salsa needed more kick and wasn't stand out in flavor. Few places serve what I consider Cali traditional red hot sauce. A few places do. Side options need to be more specifc on details and pricing. New location so maybe they're still figuring things out. But they confused our drink order, forgot two of my tacos, served a white guy first while my minority wife was waiting and the food was on the shelf, and when my wife complained a customer called her a bitch and the restaurant did nothing to intervene. Been coming here a long time and had good experiences, but this was not one of them. read more

Great takeout experience here! I didn't even realize this place existed! I walked in to place my order and it was probably done in less that 10 minutes. The queso nd guacamole were both good. My favorite item was the krunch wrap! read more

My wife wanted to give this place a try. We have not been to the Rochester location. I had the three tacos, chicken, korean BBQ, and Mahi-Mahi. The tacos are served in a doubled soft corn tortilla. (I should have gotten a pic). I did not think the chicken had much flavor. I did not add any salsa, so that could have made a difference. The Korean BBQ was good with a some heat to it and a bit of pickled slaw. The Mahi-Mahi was breaded and ok. The sauce had some heat to it. You place your order at the counter. It is a small place with a few tables to eat. We were here on a Saturday night around dinner time and it was busy. Most people were getting carry-out. My wife had the three tacos, which they did not get correct. The counter service was friendly. I would give this place another shot. read more

Got carryout here today. Small burrito $8.99 (price online is currently incorrect). Four styles to choose from - I went with classic which is chicken (or beef), fajita vegetables, rice, pinto beans, cheese, and crema. Delicious. A little light on the amount of chicken though. Also got a chips and guacamole - delicious. Will return just for that guac. They have a handful of tables, but mostly carryout. Service very friendly and order was packed accurately. read more

I almost gave a 3 but 2 as it's "meh overall in taste but it wasn't bad." I weighted the food more than some of the positives. I got 2 Birria tacos, 1 Carne Asada taco, and rice/beans. First - you ask me if "for here or to go" - but then you basically pack my food in To Go containers, seal them and bring to my table? Not a good experience -- what's the difference if To Go - you give me a baggie to put them in ? Annoying and cheapened the expected experience right out of the gate before I even tasted. Food - Meh. The Chimichirri sauce on the steak is really good but the steak is ok. Portions are good. I was really excited about the Birria tacos but unfortunately, the meat just had zero flavor. It just tasted like plain unseasoned pulled beef. The chimichurri sauce would have been much better. Meh at best. Disappointing as thought this was going to crush it -- swing - big miss. The highlight was actually the pinto beans - a good little kick of spice to them, nice flavor and good seasoning. I would skip the rice for sure. The beans are worth it. Overall - I prob won't go back unless I was there on an errand - even that is a big maybe. Just not impressed with so many really good Mexican in Birmingham and Royal Oak/Ferndale. Place was clean and staff friendly so that was a plus. It's not bad - you won't have a bad meal, but meh (2/3) is what I gave it. If you can drive the 5 min Birmingham - The Taco Stand is way better flavor and more authentic tacos, and is in the same fast casual category. And "for here" - means it comes on a plate/tray vs Togo plastic containers. Just saying. Good luck. read more

We tried Los Gatos Tacos for takeout, we bought an avocado burrito, the California club quesadilla, and the southwest veggie quesadilla, everything was very good, seasoned well. The salsas are good, and their guacamole is great. The service was nice, everything was done on time. Ambiance? It was take out for us, but the ambiance looked nice. So I tried cat tacos. Not once, not twice, but three times. It was not the charm. First off the menus was super confusing. I mean it's all over the place. There are Taco Bell copy cat type items. Krunch taco. With a K so not to infringe. There aren't enough authentic taco joints around this area for someone to open a spin off. Bad call. No one wants the chipotle ranch. The crema that isn't real Mexican crema. None of the meats are authentic spiced/marinated and slow roasted. Pulled/shredded. Whole shoulders of beef. Whole chickens. Just meats sprinkled with spice and grilled. Well? We can get that at chipotle. Which to be honest has been doing a great job at it. For what it is. How about a Pasteur taco. Not run on just a special. I tried the tacos. All of them. All the meats were dry. Chopped not sliced, nor shredded from a whole roasted source. Just pretty much plain meat. The burritos were huge. But stuffed with rice and everything but meat. Got a classic burrito with chicken. I swear at first I thought they just forgot the chicken all together. Found hints of dry grilled boring chicken. Ordered the American ground beef tacos. Tasted like Ortega seasoning. Super salty and boring. I know I sound like a jerk. And I know how hard the food biz is. But man? You have the opportunity to open a super successful taco place in a spot that desperately needs authentic Mexican and you offer super generic l don't know what Mexican? What a waste of space. Stopped in with my bf and was PLEASANTLY surprised with the patience and wonderful customer service as first time customers. We both got the chicken quesadillas and it was cooked to order, fast and the quality was outstanding. I am usually weird with chicken and this was so good I actually forced myself to finish it all because it was too good to waste. Also I am a huge sauce person and they gave tons of dipping options. man, let me tell you about los gatos tacos! to start off, the customer service was beyond exceptional! i came in ten minutes after they were due to close, and they happily took my order to feed my family of four. they gave us multiple free salsas and chips, but beyond that, they were just so kind and exceptional in every way. speaking of which, the food quality was amazing! we devoured it quickly! for ambiance, the storefront had a few tables to sit at, but people primarily order food to go. overall, my experience at los gatos tacos was amazing, and i will definitely come again! i encourage others to come too. can't wait for next time! read more

Been there 3 times whithin 7 days. 1st time was great, food fresh and portion right for price. 2nd time my order was prepared incorrectly. Not the biggest deal cause it happens and I'm in the industry so I just ate it. 3rd visit was given someone else's order all together. When I called the young lady at the counter apologized and offed to remake it but I was already home and could not drive all the way back with the kids, now I needed to make dinner cause I didn't get what I ordered. she told me they would refund my card in 2-3 days. I asked why the wait and she told me "that's how we do things". I'm sorry but that was not the right answer. I thought this place was different but I was wrong, they are just like the rest.
