    Brunch menu
    Tamara F.

I finally got a chance to drop in for brunch. Glad it's back. I come here every couple of months for dinner so it was nice to try the brunch menu. Even though I didn't have anything egg-based, I did enjoy my sandwich and soup. The friends that joined me enjoyed their food as well. Usually it's always an excellent service experience. Unfortunately, this time I think the server that we had was abrupt and it felt like we were bothering him. It's unfortunate because before I've always had a good server experience here, so I was a little thrown by it. We had to wave him down for water refills, for a second pop, etc. It wasn't that busy while we were there so I was a little surprised he just didn't stop by the table and just pour more water or ask if anyone wanted another pop. It felt like barebones service. I was also surprised that he did not serve the biscuits that they usually do at the beginning of the meals. I originally just assumed it was because we were at brunch so they didn't serve them so I didn't bother asking. But now I see a review from someone else that they did get the biscuits at brunch! So that's a little disappointing because they are delicious. This is a nice place for small groups, six or less fit comfortably at their larger tables. I have been here previously with a very large group and they put tables together so it worked as well. Sunday afternoon was also a great time to go because while there were people there it wasn't overly crowded so it was easy to hear each other at the table. I'll still continue to visit Roadside. While the service is hit or miss, the food is consistently delicious. I love their food.

My wife stopped for a couple of drinks and an appetizer on a Friday night. The wait for a table was about an hour in the dining area. We were able to get a table on the covered and heated patio to avoid the wait. We could have also chosen to eat at the bar. We started with a drink. My wife had the Blueberry martini, which she really enjoyed. It was like a frozen drink. The vodka and lemonade took off the tart/sweet of the blueberry. We chose the brussel sprouts for our appetizers which were very good. They are on the better side of this popular appetizer. I would not say the brussels are different, but they are better in my opinion. We finished with cups of the tomato-basil soup, which were good. This is our third time here, and is one of my wife's faves. The atmosphere is upscale bistro. It is very cute inside. The crowd is older and more on the businessy side. I appreciate the menu is on the shorter side. The portions tend to the smaller side, which I appreciate. The service has been attentive and excellent every visit.

    Shrimp and Grits

I was happy to see that brunch had returned after a long absence at Roadside B&G. I missed the free breakfast biscuits and was glad that they were good as they used to be. I had the shrimp and grits and it was a 3.5 out of 5. The shrimp was good but the grits could have been a bit more creamy and better seasoned. Our server was nice but I kind of expected my daughter's kids meal to be free after finding a fruit fly in her fruit but it was not; we simply got a new fruit bowl.

    Walleye special

We found this gem based on my sister's recommendations of restaurants in the area. We were looking for a nice restaurant for an impromptu anniversary dinner and Roadside fit the bill. My husband enjoyed the walleye special and I loved the whitefish entree. We both ordered side salads and had more than enough. Everything was very tasty and served in a timely fashion with friendly staff. We did sit outside on the patio which is covered and surrounded by tall grass. We did not see any of the traffic and truthfully the road noice is like a dull hum until a hot rod or large dump truck goes by. (Remember Roadside is in the name. )My husband and I could easily hold a conversation.

Stopped here on a Saturday night after visiting at St Joseph's hospital (it was a little before 10). We were tired & hungry and so glad to find a decent place open until 11. When we pulled into the lot, there were still quite a bit of cars there. Of course at the time we arrived, got seated right away, though I suspect during peak hours there would be quite a wait. I got the sangria - it wasn't bad. They served us 1 biscuit apiece (they were good & I wished for a 2nd one). My husband had the fish & chips and I had the chicken with honey, green beans & rosemary truffle fries (those were good!). Both dishes a solid 4. Service was very good too Atmosphere was fun - industrial space- cement block walls, exposed pipes on ceiling & lots of sleek stainless steel. And everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves. Good find!

    Panko chicken cutlet ($23)

After living near this restaurant for three years, I finally came in for a date night. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Friday night near 7 PM, thinking we were going to have to wait a while for a seat but we were sat immediately. Amanda D was our server and was phenomenal. She was patient with me, as I was unsure what I wanted to eat since a few things caught my eye. With my meal, I had a porter beer while my SO had an IPA. Both beers were around $7 or $8. He ordered a small Caesar, which was enough for both of us to share. He was asked if he would like anchovies on the salad, to which he said yes. My boyfriend stayed the anchovies really brought out the flavor and was glad to have the salad with anchovies. He also ordered the buffalo shrimp and short rib taco appetizers as his entree. The shrimp was jumbo and very Buffalo-flavored. They were good, but I could make them at home and would probably not order again. I didn't try the tacos but he stated they were very good. I ordered the panko chicken cutlet and loved it. My only suggestion would be to include a side soup or salad instead of having it be an additional cost. The dinner was over after an hour and for a Friday night, I think prompt and efficient service is a win in itself. I would like to go back and have the blackened shrimp taco bowl.

Simply amazing service. Every time I have been here we have received amazing friendly service, amazing food, you cannot go wrong. Is it scary that this fabulous place is on my way home and I typically pass by during happy hour and I can get those petite warm potato chips with that awesome sauce and those tiny little yummy short rib tacos and a cocktail after a long work day? It's scary good, I tell ya. ;) Make a reservation, you won't regret it.

I did some research on the magic Yelp machine, and The Daily Diner had that met, and also had great ratings. It's a cute place inside, relatively small, but you're greeted right away with a friendly greeting. They have a solid normal menu and specials on the board (bacon stuffed pancakes? I can't say I wasn't tempted). Service is really solid and the food came out quickly. I decided on the corned beef hash with 3 eggs - it was a whole can of hash! Needless to say that portions are very generous, bordering on huge. The food was delicious, and we'll be back when we're in the area. They have the standards and some surprises at very reasonable prices considering the portion size.

Well, first thing, I almost left: despite having credit card stickers on the door, they have signs saying they only take cash. That did not please me, but I checked & saw I did have money, so I decided to stay. The second thing that almost made me leave was that the place smelled like CIGARETTES. It has been illegal to smoke in restaurants for at least a decade, so I don't know why this noxious smell filled the tiny restaurant. Still, I stayed because I was hungry, and I was enjoying the bantering between the staff and a couple regulars. I ordered the spinach & feta omelette with hash browns & rye toast. It was fine, but nothing special or different from any other spinach & feta omelette I've had. But, the servers were courteous, and the service was good.

I was a little disappointed initially to be seated at the short bar as it makes me feel like I'm in elementary school due to the height, but this was a busy Saturday morning so I understood as it seems there are limited 2-tops, etc and this visit was at peak hours. It was nice to see the daylight coming through the windows which also made this a relaxing venue. While I was sitting there I was able to observe a lot as the short bar is next to the case displaying many delicious treats. I really laughed to myself as I noticed a couple of future Yelper's (one was 2-year toddler and his probably 4-5 year old sister (possibly celebrating a birthday) make a prompt trip to checkout the dessert offerings first! They were obviously "regulars". I was greeted by one of the wait staff, Mya, who was friendly, served me a coffee and indicated my server would be with me soon. I appreciated seeing the teamwork among the staff. I was eventually served by Owen who was helpful and I ordered an egg white frittata which came with a side of mixed fresh fruit. While I was waiting on my food, I had a vantage point where I could see several entrees come out. I also witnessed one of the two Chefs smiling as he was looking at and preparing the orders which I found interesting. The frittata included spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, apple chicken sausage, and was delicious. I was still a little hungry, so I realized the future Yelpers mentioned earlier had it right, and I ordered a carrot cake cupcake which Owen mentioned was a good choice. The frosting was delicious and the moist carrot cake was tasty as well. The overall restaurant was hustling and bustling on this morning, I had my coffee cup refilled multiple times and even noticed additional children observing the case with the desserts. I enjoyed the overall experience and did not feel rushed at all, but more like a customer!

There is a Coney Special on the sign for $1.88, but the restaurant has a coney called the Coney Special, so be careful with that. The Coney Special on the menu is $4, but it did have a lot of chili on top. The ground beef around the hot dog was very wet and made the bun very soggy. It was ordered without onion. One person in our group ordered the Chicken Gyro Pita. She said it was good and she really liked the cucumber sauce. It did have a lot of lettuce, which she said added to the taste of the pita. She added a side of chili cheese fries, and and said those were good as well. The Club Sandwich is pretty large here. It had large hunks of turkey and ham on it. The bacon was a little chewy and didn't have a ton of flavor. All in all it was a good sandwich. I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were good - they had a nice crisp and tasted fine. For my return meal here I ended up getting the Two Egg Grandslam for $9.99 that had Two eggs cooked to order, hash browns, toast and meat of choice. The eggs were well cooked, with four pieces of meat, a very generous portion of hash browns and a rye toast that is just simply the best in the area where it is the same as I remember from 30 years ago. Relative to staff and facility, it is definately not a newer contemporary facility that many of the restaurants are in the area but is a tad more dated/rustic. Having said that it is defiantely clean and being well maintained where I was totally fine with the environment. Relative to staff, it felt like being at home as you could clearly hear the staff talking/arguing in the background (in a friendly way) where you normally do not hear that in most restaurants in the area. My only gripe, which is fairly significant for me, was after giving me my first cup of coffee they never returned to top it off or refill it during my breakfast which is a big no no for me and really a deal breaker. Not sure if this is the norm but if this were to happen again I probably would not return. For the purposes of this review I did not ding them on this but if it were to happen again I would not return. Overall good food at very reasonable prices is hard to beat and assuming my refill issue was a one off I would definately return in the future.
