After waiting in the parking lot because of them changing their opening time on Sundays from 11 am to noon at the last minute, my small group got in to a almost empty place. While that made it easy to talk with the way the dining room is set up, if full it would be loud. Menu is one page of food, one page of drinks and a special board with 3. Since I am a small eater, I got the short ribs grilled cheese without the meat and onions and the tomato soup. Others got one of the specials and a dinner salad. The others also got 2 of the appetizers. Most of the menu is trendy for trendy's sake. The bread basket for the table had just enough for 1 piece each. I dipped the sandwich in the soup but didn't finish the soup. Almost average at best. Others enjoyed theirs but it was nothing special. Service was average, there at times you needed. We stopped at this restaurant on the way home last night. The service was probably the worst that I have experienced in a very long time. We were sat at a table and it took about 10 minutes to be greeted by our server. She took our drink orders. We received our drinks fairly quickly. We ordered our food. My whole order was wrong except for the type of fish. The fish was dry. She checked on us about 15 minutes after receiving our food. I requested the side of gravy for the mashed potatoes that I ordered with my entree, a side of lemon for my dry fish and a refill of my Diet Coke that was empty for about 10 minutes. She only returned to our table to bring the bill. I did see her across the restaurant doing her side work and chatting with her co-workers. I alerted her that she never returned with the items that I requested. She took the drinks off the bill and asked if we wanted deserts to go for the inconvenience. We declined. This place had a cool vibe and I wanted to like it. This horrible first impression ensures that I will never return to this restaurant and I will never recommend this place to friends or family. read more

I was recently at Roadside B&G for a bridal shower. Above all else, it was seriously the cutest, perfect space. With an indoor, outdoor vibe and setting, it made for the best time. The service was good and the food was average. The minestrone soup was the star of the show for me. It was delicious. It was such a cute, wholesome afternoon filled with so much love. Being back in Michigan is always so heartwarming and this afternoon at Roadside only added positively to that. read more

I finally got a chance to drop in for brunch. Glad it's back. I come here every couple of months for dinner so it was nice to try the brunch menu. Even though I didn't have anything egg-based, I did enjoy my sandwich and soup. The friends that joined me enjoyed their food as well. Usually it's always an excellent service experience. Unfortunately, this time I think the server that we had was abrupt and it felt like we were bothering him. It's unfortunate because before I've always had a good server experience here, so I was a little thrown by it. We had to wave him down for water refills, for a second pop, etc. It wasn't that busy while we were there so I was a little surprised he just didn't stop by the table and just pour more water or ask if anyone wanted another pop. It felt like barebones service. I was also surprised that he did not serve the biscuits that they usually do at the beginning of the meals. I originally just assumed it was because we were at brunch so they didn't serve them so I didn't bother asking. But now I see a review from someone else that they did get the biscuits at brunch! So that's a little disappointing because they are delicious. This is a nice place for small groups, six or less fit comfortably at their larger tables. I have been here previously with a very large group and they put tables together so it worked as well. Sunday afternoon was also a great time to go because while there were people there it wasn't overly crowded so it was easy to hear each other at the table. I'll still continue to visit Roadside. While the service is hit or miss, the food is consistently delicious. I love their food. read more

My wife stopped for a couple of drinks and an appetizer on a Friday night. The wait for a table was about an hour in the dining area. We were able to get a table on the covered and heated patio to avoid the wait. We could have also chosen to eat at the bar. We started with a drink. My wife had the Blueberry martini, which she really enjoyed. It was like a frozen drink. The vodka and lemonade took off the tart/sweet of the blueberry. We chose the brussel sprouts for our appetizers which were very good. They are on the better side of this popular appetizer. I would not say the brussels are different, but they are better in my opinion. We finished with cups of the tomato-basil soup, which were good. This is our third time here, and is one of my wife's faves. The atmosphere is upscale bistro. It is very cute inside. The crowd is older and more on the businessy side. I appreciate the menu is on the shorter side. The portions tend to the smaller side, which I appreciate. The service has been attentive and excellent every visit. read more

I was happy to see that brunch had returned after a long absence at Roadside B&G. I missed the free breakfast biscuits and was glad that they were good as they used to be. I had the shrimp and grits and it was a 3.5 out of 5. The shrimp was good but the grits could have been a bit more creamy and better seasoned. Our server was nice but I kind of expected my daughter's kids meal to be free after finding a fruit fly in her fruit but it was not; we simply got a new fruit bowl. read more

We found this gem based on my sister's recommendations of restaurants in the area. We were looking for a nice restaurant for an impromptu anniversary dinner and Roadside fit the bill. My husband enjoyed the walleye special and I loved the whitefish entree. We both ordered side salads and had more than enough. Everything was very tasty and served in a timely fashion with friendly staff. We did sit outside on the patio which is covered and surrounded by tall grass. We did not see any of the traffic and truthfully the road noice is like a dull hum until a hot rod or large dump truck goes by. Stopped here on a Saturday night after visiting at St Joseph's hospital (it was a little before 10). We were tired & hungry and so glad to find a decent place open until 11. When we pulled into the lot, there were still quite a bit of cars there. Of course at the time we arrived, got seated right away, though I suspect during peak hours there would be quite a wait. I got the sangria - it wasn't bad. They served us 1 biscuit apiece (they were good & I wished for a 2nd one). My husband had the fish & chips and I had the chicken with honey, green beans & rosemary truffle fries (those were good!). Both dishes a solid 4. After living near this restaurant for three years, I finally came in for a date night. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Friday night near 7 PM, thinking we were going to have to wait a while for a seat but we were sat immediately. Amanda D was our server and was phenomenal. She was patient with me, as I was unsure what I wanted to eat since a few things caught my eye. With my meal, I had a porter beer while my SO had an IPA. Both beers were around $7 or $8. He ordered a small Caesar, which was enough for both of us to share. He was asked if he would like anchovies on the salad, to which he said yes. My boyfriend stayed the anchovies really brought out the flavor and was glad to have the salad with anchovies. He also ordered the buffalo shrimp and short rib taco appetizers as his entree. The shrimp was jumbo and very Buffalo-flavored. They were good, but I could make them at home and would probably not order again. I didn't try the tacos but he stated they were very good. I ordered the panko chicken cutlet and loved it. My only suggestion would be to include a side soup or salad instead of having it be an additional cost. The dinner was over after an hour and for a Friday night, I think prompt and efficient service is a win in itself. I would like to go back and have the blackened shrimp taco bowl. read more

Great restaurant, we liked the calamari and crab cakes, they exceeded expectations. Staff is very friendly and the food came quick.

I made a reservation For two of us at 5 PM. They are taking reservations for an hour and a half spots, to make sure people are able to get a seat. Grace took our reservation over the phone, she seem pleasant and accommodating. We were seated in the back room, not in the main dining area. Jenny is waiting on us tonight, she's warm, friendly and attentive too. I ordered the chopped salad and the cedar planked salmon, cup of tomato basil soup and a grilled chicken Caesar and decided on trying their lobster Mac and cheese as our starter. Their specials tonight are ribeye, blackened halibut and salmon encrusted cake topped with arugula and a mud pie dessert. The basket of bread was our first, since our lobster Mac and cheese would take a bit longer. The Mac and cheese looks very much like the TT from royal Oak, same noodles, Ritz topping too and similar plating too. Found out it's the same owner as the closed down TT in Royal Oak. Nice to get the lobster Mac elsewhere now. I feel the spirit of TT. Their chopped salad is the same as TT's version, nice. The chopped salad is good too. Their homemade biscuit is moist, buttery, soft and billowy inside and crunchy on the outside too, it's so yummy. I could eat and entire meal of bread here for sure. That's how every biscuit should be. It's too bad they don't have truffle fries, that would make my meal for sure. The tomato basil is good, it's creamy and smooth, not super flavorful overall. The heat has been turned on since there's two parties in the room now. Same glasses, same salad contents as the chopped tavern salad that I have missed. The cedar planked salmon was perfectly cooked, but the Dijon mustard glaze wasn't my thing at all. My husband liked it though. It would have been better blackened to me, next time. The service was so friendly and attentive and the menu was stacked with Great Lake front favorites and coastal specialties! Food was delicious! I don't know what they do to those Brussel sprouts but they are bomb! Really enjoyed their classic lemon drop! I tried their meatloaf because someone else recommended it but there was really nothing special about it. The place was fine but we had asked the servers to help us out because the sun was hitting our faces and the server said there were no curtains or shades to cover it. They had other shades/curtains in most windows but the one hitting our faces does not have any. He didn't even offer to move us somewhere else and he kept checking on us to the point that it felt annoying. We ordered another round of drinks and we said, we're good for now. The next thing we knew, he was leaving the bill on the table so we paid and moved somewhere else where we can enjoy our drinks more. Not the best service for sure. read more

The first time we came here, it was mind-blowing. We ordered calamari (which was cooked so good) the waiter recommended horseradish sauce to go with it, perfect! We also got a ceaser salad, which had me craving this salad for weeks after. We also got a steak which was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and it was so perfect. Our waiter was super attentive and really helpful with drink and wine recommendations. The second time we came here, we ordered the steak and ceaser salad. The downside and only reason for the 4 stars is when we got the steak, ordered medium, it was blue rare, possibly still moo-ing. We tried to eat the edges but decided to send it back, and we're told they would bring out another one. The second one eventually came out, and it was cooked exactly the same. Blue rare, still moo-ing. The waitress apologized and asked if we wanted to try again, which we declined. The manager did give us two free deserts to make it up, but still was such a letdown. It felt like a fluke the first time we came because the steak was the best steak I've ever had, and then they messed it up twice the next time we came. I have been to this restaurant numerous times over the years where they for has been consistently good over time relative to food and service. They don't have an expansive menu like some restaurants but what they do make is is consistently good with daily specials to augment the regular menu. On this particular day I ordered the Kobe Meatloaf covered in a Cabernet sauce that was accompanied by Portabello green beans and smashed redskin potatoes. The meat was well cooked and very tasty where the cabernet sauce really amped up up the flavor of the meat. The green beans were crunchy and not over cooked like so many restaurants do. Finally, the redskin potatoes were well cooked with great flavor. Overall I was very satisfied with my meal. Relative to the establishment itself, the restaurant has a clean modern decor about it that provides a casual comfiness to its customers. Service has always been excellent with great follow-up where this dining experience was no exception. Also there is enough TV's behind the bar that allow you to follow the big sporting event of the day making this a dining spot of choice for sports minded folks. Finally prices are on the moderate side and not overly priced especially when you consider the quality of the food served here. From clearing dishes to answering questions about the specials or making a recommendation. Very limited menu I had the Buffalo shrimp appetizer and although only 4 shrimp ( I knew that ) they were huge. Not too hot and we're delicious. The Mi Cherry salad was delicious as well. Have been here multiple times over the last few weeks and the food keeps getting worse as does the attitude of the workers. The first time I had the chicken dish and it was great. The second time I ordered it again and it came out almost cold with wilted arugula and melted Parmesan on top. Both were supposed to be fresh. It was almost inedible. Plus the server acted as if we inconvenienced him. The llast time I had the 'special' flatbread. It was literally undercooked pillsbury dough from a can with a few pieces of arugula and feta on top. The staff have such an attitude. As if this is a five star restaurant. Won't be back. read more
