Super nice anniversary dinner here on Friday nite. Called about an hour in advance to reserve a table, which felt lucky. When we got there nearly all the tables were occupied but things quieted down. Dining room is a big open space but noise isn't an issue. There are fun things to catch the eye to l all around -- towering bar inventory, eclectic dishware, art on the walls... Server Ashley was informative and helpful in guiding us around a menu where everything looked good. Partner got a ragú special, I had the salad with the carrots and curry garbanzos and papas bravas on the side. Potatoes were cooked very well but -- first-world problem here -- cut too small like hash, and all the sauce was at the bottom of the dish (it took a few bites to find it; I almost thought it had been forgotten). Came in late Thursday evening and sat at the bar. We started with a white wine flight. All very light and delicious. We paired this with the Dolmas. Best I've ever had. They were warm and full of flavor. Loved the sauce. We shared a side greek salad and the garlic chicken entree. The chicken quarter entree was very tasty but very small portion. The chicken itself was more the size of a game hen. Really little. They probably only gave us maybe a half cup of the dauphinoise potatoes. Still very tasty. We then ordered the lemon creme Brulé. We were excited to try this place after a long hike at 10 Falls. So many things looked good. When we got there, they were serving off of a limited Easter Brunch menu. Super bummed as nothing on it resembled the normal menu items. Ordered a skillet with potatoes, a lot of onions, sausage, tomatoes, and a couple eggs on it. It was not something I would order again. Was bland so we asked for salt which helped the dish a little bit. The little bird salt shaker drops out maybe a couple grains of salt at a time. I had to open the rubber bottom for ease and more efficient use. The sausage sounded like it'd be something special, but didn't add any flavor to the dish. They mistakenly brought out the Greek breakfast plate and in hindsight we wished we didn't say anything and stuck with that. We also ordered the french toast that comes with a kind of custard in between. It was a really sweet dish. I like custard and I like french toast. Still not sure it was working for me combined for breakfast, but feeling neutral about this one. Wouldn't order again personally. Son ordered the Mac-n-cheese. Cooked perfectly, but for a kid dish, the bite of the cheese was almost too much for him. It was on the edge. He did say it was alright after a few bites. I can see some kids maybe not liking this version. I tried it. It was okay, but not something I'd need to order again. Bill came with the incorrect pricier Greek plate that we returned. They brought a "corrected" check out, but it then indicated a different wrong dish. It appeared the same prices so we just paid and left. This meal left all of us really unsatisfied. Not good when you walk the small town to try to make up for it with anything else, a good pastry maybe or ice cream, but can't find anything. We went home and I just made a kick-ass dinner instead. Wow! This place is a gem! It was a last-minute lunch stopover after a long hike at Silver Falls before heading up to the Portland airport. I got the grilled rustic bread and a Greek salad. Both were incredible, but the best part probably was the accompaniments to the bread. There was a slightly spicy jam that I wish I was eating right now (I dream of that jam!) We went here about a year ago and it was absolutely wonderful in every way. Should have reviewed it and given 5 stars but time slipped away. We were greatly looking forward to another meal here. We made a reservation, arrived on time and were seated promptly. 2 other tables were seated after us, one quite a bit after. We waited, and waited, and waited. The other tables had their orders taken. One of them had their drinks served. Still no one came to take our drink or food orders. I asked the host if anyone was assigned to our table, she went to check, and a bit later said it'll just be a few minutes. We waited some more. Finally got fed up (but not fed) and left. So we ate here two months ago and I couldn't wait to get back here fast enough. The food was absolutely wonderful and amazing. I've been raving about it and telling everybody I possibly can or come in contact with about it. But unfortunately, two months later and my opinion has completely changed. The food was off. It was bland. and nowhere close to where it was two months ago when we first tried this place. We don't live in Silverton and we traveled a little distance to get there not to mention my parents came in all the way from by the Portland airport. It was my mother's birthday, and I took her out to dinner here since I had been raving about how wonderful it was. It was a huge letdown, especially for the amount of money that I paid. So if I'm gonna pay good money for something I expect a good quality product in return and this definitely fell short even the mixed drinks tasted like crap. They did mention that they were a little shorthanded and they had a brand new kitchen manager running the back of house so I guess that would explain some things but still that's not my problem. Say this is a small restaurant and there wasn't that many people in it and they had more than enough staff to run this place, but yet only the hostess seemed to really be working her ass off. The wait for our food was long my rice was hard and crunchy my steak had no sear or flavor my salad dressing was so strong with vinegar it was pretty uneditable the mussels were fishy and way to strong on the lemon the drinks were not tasty and refreshing like the last time we we're here. Oh yeah, and the peanut butter pretzel cheesecake wasn't very good either Hershey's chocolate milk sauce on a plate was pretzels that weren't crunchy and fresh but more wet and chewy and the cheesecake itself almost had a sour taste to it not what I expected from such a fine dining establishment. Not sure I'll be back here for a while. Maybe next time I'll just try a gyro because that seem seems to be more in their wheelhouse then the expensive steak or seafood they ruined. We also got a couple appetizers that I wasn't very fond of either the fried cauliflower add some spanakopita I've had much better spanakopita and the fried cauliflower was just weird. Whatever the sauce they had it in just really wasn't working it wasn't bad it just wasn't good either. So I had to edit my review this place did drop from a 5 star down to a 2 star, but with the reply backhanded apology that I got from the owner it has now dropped to 1 star. Because she felt the need to explain the dishes to me like I don't know anything about food or the troubles of how a restaurant is run. My mother is a great home chef I've been a professional chef for over 35 years. My stepbrother followed in our footsteps with a passion for food once he started living with us and he then graduated culinary school moved to upstate New York and has helped opened over a dozen stuck up restaurants like yours with fresh farm to table menus and with many of farms he shops from that I've personally visited myself not to mention all the local farm we have here that I've worked with in the past. But thank you for assuming I didn't understand the menu description and know nothing about food. As I can see I am not the only bad review that has touched on some of the same subjects I had mentioned. I am sorry if this review offended and upset you but it is my personal opinion and I am only speaking of my experience as I gave you 5 stars the first time I ate here but quality and consistency is key and this time you fell short. As I said the food wasn't horrible it just wasn't good and spectacular like it was on our first visit. And if I was you I'd try to get back your old chef that was running things right and offer him a huge bonus because you are now just riding on his coat tails so get him back or find another good chef before word gets out that the food suck now. And as far as you offering a free dinner after your snide remarks, no thank you and as to why nothing was brought up at the restaurant during my service is because I would never dream of sending anything back to the kitchen and upsetting the flow of the entire restaurant stressing out your cooks and possibly ruining everyone else's meal by or experience. Very unprofessional just like yourself. Say thank you. Have a good day and I doubt we'll be seeing each other again. Oh, and just to let you know since you were so proud of your burger that's not just a burger. My mother did say the burger was actually pretty good. Our server was excellent. The ambiance was bustling and nice on a Saturday night. The roasted carrot appetizer sauce was amazing, but the carrots themselves were under cooked. I could barely get my for into them. The entre was a Mediterranean Fish combo that my wife and I split. It had delicious sauce, rice, shrimp, clams chorizo and fish. Yum! I didn't mention anything about the carrots because they were so busy, but that kinda bugged me. Also, I ordered a lemonade and when refilled I was charged for another. It was really good, but I wouldn't have ordered another if I knew they were going to charge for it. We live in town, and will probably give them another try in a few months. read more

Decided to come have dinner here after learning that Guerra's was closed down, a few doors down. The meal was just "okay", nothing great. I ate more off my plate due to being hungry rather than the taste of the food. I ordered the feature Flank Steak Skewer Special. The steak was tough and a bit hard to chew. The side rice was really lumpy and flavourless. I ordered medium rare and some pieces were as ordered but others were well well cooked. Could have used more seasoning for sure! The Black Garlic Chimi-Churi was delicious though! They need to bottle that! Side salad with the house vinaigrette was good. Would I order it again? No!!! Service was great though and the place has a nice ambiance. Very pleasant place to gather with friends. That alone is what the three stars are for! Not many restaurants in Silverton but I honestly don't know that I would recommend this one. Will have to try somewhere else next time. read more

Before we dig into the details/ the food is really, really good. Full bar, interesting selection of alcohol. First time at this restaurant- much to like. Very pleasant room, really comfortable noise level- buzzy but easy to carry on a conversation. The menu is interesting, lots of choices, price points. Had two cocktails, a starter, salad, and two mains- all tasty for around 100.00 with a tip so reasonable certainly for the quality. And the food is excellent, the service is attentive but needs to be tuned up. Never did get the glass of wine we ordered and it took three tries to get a box for left-overs. And, if you want to make me very happy, take my plate into the kitchen and box it - upscale places do this. Seem to be well staffed but strangely not quite on point. Front of the house needs attention. Silverton is a charming small town, parking is easy. Lots of small shops so possible to make a day of shopping and dinner. read more

This was our first time dining at Oso. We love Mediterranean food. This is billed as Spanish and Mediterranean inspired, and the menu reflected both well with many choices. We had been grazing much of the afternoon at a holiday family gathering, so weren't too hungry. We shared the Truffle Honey Roasted Carrots, which were unique and amazingly delicious. Then we shared the Roasted Lamb Shank, which was on their "Specials" menu. It was so tender and tasty, falling off the bone as it should. It was clear to us from this small sampling that the chef is talented and creative. The decor was very nice. Best of all was the friendly and attentive service. All the servers seemed genuinely happy and shared their smiles. Three different people checked on us and made sure we had what we needed, and yet it was the right amount of attention without being too much. It was clear that they had pride of place and of the work they did. We recommend Oso with no hesitation and will definitely return the next time we visit this part of Oregon. read more

One goes out to 10 different restaurants to find the experience like the one I just had. Oso is one of those far and few between gems. It has quickly become one of my now go to establishments. The owners are on site and work side by side with the rest of the staff. The balance of high quality food, cocktails and value make it a very enticing regular venue. The food was well beyond my expectations for the prices I paid. My family and I shared many many dishes and there was not any one particular wow factor, but many many wow factors. This place had exceptional and friendly service. It is in a small town that is in the middle of a revival even as a gay couple we felt extremely comfortable and welcome in this restaurant and that feeling of welcome is not always been the case in the rurall parts of Oregon. The restaurant has a number of beautiful pieces that they own and keep but they also feature a number of local artists gallery quality pieces for sale which adds to the enjoyment while waiting for the meal is you can basically do some high-end out shopping along the way. I have eaten Mediterranean food at many different restaurants and honestly unless you're in the Greek isles themselves you're not going to find much better Greek food than you will hear it's easily as good as anything else I've had on the west coast of the United States. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant and I sincerely hope they stay in business because they're an absolute pleasure to enjoy. read more
