First time at Los Globos! I went for a reggaetón night. However, it was really more of a hipster vibe lol little spanish music but it was okay/fun. I am not much of a drinker, but I ordered a gin & tonic! and Idk, I was expecting some gin poured into my cup with tonic water and ice but instead I got amsterdan vodka, tonic, and a lime. & I asked the bartender "is this how you make it?" & she said yes, this is gin & tonic lol so I went to ask the other bartender and he gave me another drink with the same: amsterdam, ice, and tonic. So I'm guessing this is their most common drink-- vodka. lol so they only know how to make everything vodka It's also true about overpriced drinks. One of my friends had an ADIOS and it was $18 for like a 6oz plastic cup! My other friend paid $11 for a modelo beer! I definitely suggest to pregame before going here. read more

This is my all time fave dance spot in LA! It's not overpriced to get in and not overpriced in drinks. I like the variety of dance nights too. Its more of a cool crowd here not like back near my house if you go out theres wierd dudes hounding you all the time but not here. There's more chill vibes here--- I like it that its a cool party spot but it doesn't get overcrowded, everyone has their space to just chill and enjoy the music. read more

SITREP Perversion is one of the most awesome Club Nights generated by the eclectic "Evil Club Empire" (www.evilclubempire.com) cadre of hard-working DJs, that includes mastermind DJ Bruce Perdew. THE SETUP I've enjoyed this stalwart Thursday night mainstay in the Gothic-Industrial-EBM-Darkwave dance-world as it has resided in many incarnations in the Hollywood / Los Angeles nexus for a very long time. I first hit Perversion in fact in the late 90s when it was on Hollywood Blvd itself. It moved around a bit, most recently at 333 Live in downtown L.A. itself. LOS GLOBOS Now the club-event has come to Los Globos on W. Sunset Blvd in the Silverlake community. This particular night is actually it's 2nd Thursday at this location and I have to admit that the venue is a really nice fit for the music format and the crowd. SECOND FLOOR EXPERIENCE It's kind of funny - the Perversion crowd waits outside until 10pm to be let it, but there is access to go in and out of the club itself since the 1st floor is taken over by live bands. In fact, I think the 1st floor crowd is a bit taken with the get-up and dressed-to-kill Perversion crowd. And as soon as 10pm hit, the Perversion crowd is let in, and immediately proceed to the stairwell at the left leading up to the massive 2nd Floor club level with it's own large bar and it's own 2 different dance rooms. LARGE MAIN ROOM This is where DJ Bruce Perdew resident-djs and it's the bigger dance floor with a bigger area for seating around the perimeter of the dance floor. There's also a stage, though not in use on this night. THE RED LEATHER OCTAGON This is where DJ Jason (The Duke) resides, and it was a great night of swirly goth and dark wave standards in this locale. Now THIS room is rather choice - lush red leather walls, with embedded panels of mirrors in each of the eight (8) walls, to watch yourself dance (which LOTS of the sexy pretties like to do), and to look at the sexy pretties via the mirror to make your gazing not-so-obvious (which I like to do) ;) There is a small bar area, but not open - just easier to go outside to the large bar on the off the main dancefloor and get your refreshments of choice from there. REST ROOM LIGHTSHOW Last place you expect to *oonze oonze*, but the Men's Room had it's own vibe this evening (not what you think, though) ;) "When New Shit Hits Ya - #37" - Walking into the 2nd Floor Men's Room off the main dance floor, then standing at the urinal, it was all of the sudden a bit disconcerting (at first) to see that the bathroom lights changing colors until I realized they were part of the synchronization of the main dance floor. And then getting hit with explosions of laser light reflected off of the bathroom mirror hit you in the face from off the mirror (since there is not closed door entering the men's room). *hiLARious!* THE CROWD The uber-goth and the Industrial-Krowd were in full residence on this night. A lit oasis with great big signage in the middle of a dark section of Sunset Blvd. With luck on my side, I snagged a space on the street right near the entrance by getting there "on time" (haha take that to the fashionably late!). The downstairs bar was closed on Wednesday night this week (12/12/2012), but the bands were upstairs anyhow, and a small bar was sufficient serving all the bottled goodies. Besides the half cig, half alcohol stench during the walk up the stairs, it was fine and stank-free once in the main room. For a place to see a band, it was cool with swag and red vinyl booths. Despite what others have written, it's not a dive. After all, $7 bottled beers are not divey prices. Came here to see Sweetwater & The Satisfaction. They were just one of the bands playing, and Alana and band rocked the house! I can FINALLY cross Los Globos off of my list of "places I have driven by 1000's of times but never actually visited". Saturday night I came here to see the fantastic 80's psychobilly band: Skitzo! The event was hosted by Von Badsville as part as Angel City Stomp and was knock my socks off (or should I say knock myself into a wall -- I have the giant purple bruise to prove it - AMAZING!) Los Globos is located on Sunset Blvd with plenty of street parking, but if you read the flyer wrong like my friend (who saw the words "free parking" but missed the word "street") they also offer lot parking for $10. I believe it was stacked; but by the time I got to my car about 30 minutes after the event I was able to get out with no problems. The venue is intimate, but at no point was it overcrowded as other venues can be. They had a large bar area as well as several areas of booth seating. Beers were so-so in price (for an IPA/Blue Moon my friend and I paid about $14 a round + tip). The bar accepted both cash and credit. For this specific event (and maybe in general) Los Globos has a "no ins/outs" policy but they have a smoking patio out back. There is one mens restroom and 2 women's restrooms (with HILLARIOUS door signs), and the restrooms were always kept well stocked with toilet paper, covers, and hand towels (a HUGE plus). Also at one point one of the womens restrooms broke down and I let a worker know and within 5 minutes they had it closed down and quickly fixed it. When the line got too long they also suggested that there was another restroom out and around and affixed to the smoking patio. Acoustics sounded great and the workers kept any problems that started in the crowd under control. All in all a great venue, in a neighborhood that shows a lot of promise (next time I am running earlier so I can eat/pregame in the surrounding establishments) and I look forward to returning. read more

I came here about a month ago for a friends bachelorette party. I ordered one margarita and a shot. My card was charged $210 a couple of days after. REALLY!!! But then when we were giving our ticket to the next person to let us in and he was charging us $5 more each again. We were confused and mad because we had just paid and why wouldn't they tell us that we were still going to get charged again. The worker told us to pay or he will get us kicked out. We were trying to ask why they were charging us and if we could get a refund if we wanted to but they told us too bad that they wont give a refund. On January 27 at the BLACKOUT event eventbrite hosted at Los Globos there was no dress code written on the tickets. I got there with my friend that drove us. And when the bouncer saw me wearing flip-flops he looked inside and looked at me and said "I'm sorry, boss. But you can not come in." Surprised I asked why. He said. "Sorry you wearing flip-flops. I'm concerned about your safety and on the dance floor people can step over your feet." I've been clubbing over 20 years with or without them. And at the Abbey or any other club I frequently go never before was I denied from coming in. So I asked my friend if he wanted to go in by himself because I could not get in apparently. My friend said. "No, we will go home. It's not a problem." Then the shady bouncer said "Well if you have some money we can work on something and I can let you in." Confused I asked? "What do you mean?" He replied "If you give me some cash and anybody inside reprimand you just say that Eric in the front has your back." Only because I wanted to see the dj and enjoy my night I gave him money on the side to let me in. And let me tell you this was the best money I ever spent in my life! 8 different guys stepped on my feet but I didn't feel a thing because I paid Eric so I was protected! That was my insurance working for me, right? All jokes aside Eric is a disgusting conniving sleezeball that started my night on a very sour note. Went to the Gay Halloween Party yesterday and it was alot of fun! They require prove of vaccination which is great! The DJ is good and the music is very nice. The only thing is that the drinks are so expensive. We bought my friend a patron shot for his birthday and it was 34 dollars. There's always hotdogs outside when you leave the club. Security manhandled two of my friends, calls us bitches and motherfuckers, and are bullies in general. Old lady scanning tickets was also very rude. Inconsistent with entry requirements so you never know if you're gonna get in. They accepted photos of your ID many times before but now they say you need your physical ID. They also only take cash if you need to buy a ticket at the door. Some guy in the club grabbed my friends ass as he was walking by her (basically sexual assault).
