We were passing through town looking for a buritto. Yelp said this place was good. Omg, this place is ridiculously good. It is a taqueria. Order at the counter pick up yourself. Service is like being at a friend's house, a friend who is really excited to see you. There was no music or loud sounds (like other yelper's whined about.) The food was really really fresh. I last ate here 7 years ago, my views have since changed! This is my new taco place. It has replaced El Jaliscience. I always get tacos de pastor. They are delicious! The burrito de pastor is also good, but I suggest you purchase salsa on the side because it doesn't come with any. I've also tried the chicken torta but it wasn't my favorite. My partner liked it though. I also purchase extra pickled carrots because I enjoy the extra crunch. Bottled coke or agua de horchata is a must! Classics. I recently tried their carne asada nachos, they are decent. Their prices are great, considering inflation. I say you get a bang for your buck. Staff is friendly. Depending on the time of day parking may be an issue as a lot of people use this as a pit stop. I recommend this place if you're not sure where to get good tacos in the area. read more

I'm from SoCal and moved to Salinas. When I got here it was hard to find a good taco spot. This is the best I've found here. I'm one of those that likes the "weird" meats so I get the buche, cabeza, lengua, or carne asada depending on what I'm feeling like eating. I have to say they are bomb! I have noticed some people complain about the greasiness, hell yeah they are greasy and so damn good if you don't like that, maybe go to chipotle. I love the yellow corn tortillas and that they don't have to add a whole bunch of ingredients on top of the taco to make it taste good. The meat should be the star of the taco. I have however tried their nachos and yeah those chips are not good. Is why I removed a star. I've also tried their ceviche tostadas and it seems they have more veggies than seafood but I actually really like them the way they make them, they have good flavor. If only they added a bit more shrimp or crab. Also tried their sopes they are good but not Eva's Cafe on Williams good. And are on the small side with less toppings. Overall, this is strictly a place I go for when Im craving yummy greasy tacos. Once in a while I'll have a burrito, they are smaller than normal ones but I feel I rather have a smaller flavorful burrito over a bigger tasteless one. :D read more

I am a regular at this restaurant, I usually call ahead to pick up and I ALWAYS ask for no onions, and no cilantro on everything due to allergies. I understand if you make a mistake once and add onions and cilantro. But this happens literally every time I go and today I done had it with their mistakes. They do not pay attention to special requests and when confronted they are very dismissive and rude. Alejandra is the manager there so I expected her to be nice since they are the one to make a mistake but nope, instead she had an attitude. she was very unprofessional about this. I drove 10 minutes there to pick up, drove 10 minutes back home, then realized there was onions and cilantro in the burrito and had to drive all the way back. Like at that point, I should have had my meal compensated for this major inconvenience and the gas I used to go back to have their mistake corrected. Alejandra kept saying "you want your burrito or your money back." She sounded like a broken record, saying that over and over. And when asked to have owner contact, she said they have no business cards and they have no owner information to provide to us. So I am very disappointed in the way they handled this situation especially that not being the first time it happens. So all I really want is for them to take in consideration peoples allergies and don't just dismiss the special requests because one day someone can end up in the hospital because of this! read more

Went there again on the weekend to try their specials Pozole: very good, my first time trying this traditional Mexican soup/stew. He soup had good flavors, chunks of tender pork meat with horminy corns. There were parts of fatty pork with skin, I left it untouched, I guess thats how its traditionally made. Menudo: also my first time. I m not a tripe fan but my partner loves it. I love this place, best carne asada burritos in Monterey County. I always stop I. when I'm in Salinas, I can't get enough. Traffic in the area has gotten heavy-duty in the last few years, but under a mile off the 101 and worth a try. Went this afternoon for a quick bite during our drive. We always fill up at the Pilot across the street, so we thought we'd finally check this place out. I ordered the Tostada de Cameron, though because they were out of tostada shells, I received a bowl of shrimp ceviche with corn chips, which I actually preferred. :-) This meal cost me less than $5. Large horchata is $2.85 and super refreshing. Burritos are just under $5 and my boyfriend seemed pretty happy about the quality. Much larger restaurant than I anticipated, but kept a good hole-in-the-wall vibe. Really nice people working here, and conveniently located near the freeway. They DO accept Visa/MC, so don't miss out because you only have a couple crumpled ones in your wallet. It's as close to stepping into a Tijuana street restaurant as possible while still in California. It's across the street from a large truck stop just off the 101 freeway on a busy intersection. This is a working man's place to have a great Mexican meal with an occasional female patron who knows good food too. It's counter service, and they do accept credit cards. Music bangs out Mexican music complete with the ever present tuba sound. All of the food items are authentic. There's a refrigerator with cold drinks including beer and Mexico sodas.
