When you request for a pound of a certain dry good in containers they like to add in a little extra. After you requested for several different type of dry goods and they weigh the packages you'll notice immediately they added more than a little to each package and you're paying much more then you expected. We purchased like 8 different type of dry fruits asking for 2 pounds but to separate the 2 pounds into a pound each into separate bags. Because we were giving some as gifts. After the package were weighed we quickly noticed every package was much more than a pound and they didn't want to remove the excess to create the exact weight. When you ask them to make the corrections they make you feel like you're in the wrong, when you're trying to support their business. Upon paying and leaving the store a young and older Asian couple walking past us who seen the 2 bags full of goodies mentioned to us that the store isn't all hyped up to be. When I asked what they thought of this location they said they purchased items themselves about a year ago and told us the staff will pull a fast one on you if you're not paying attention. So always make sure if you ask for a pound that you're paying for a pound because the staff will indeed pull a fast one on you. Never support a business that will cheat you in the end! My purchase was my first time visit to this location but will never return again. Please be warned..

Horrible customer service between the employees and the store owner…read more I went in looking for beef jerky's. As a store courtesy they offer you to try as many beef jerky samples as you wish. So I did. After I didn't liked how most of the tastes were they told me that if I'm not buying anything then I should get out. WTF?!?!? The Asian ladies yelling: "IF YOU ARE NOT BUYING. YOU GET OUT!!!' Really?! Okay, I'II leave. I'll make sure nobody I know whose business are in Westminster will not buy anything from YOU.

Worth the Drive from the South Bay…read more Another Eat the World LA find -- and one of my favorite discoveries for Argentinian food! I will literally drive all the way from the South Bay to Santa Ana for the empanadas at Puerto Madero Argentinian Market & Bakery. As someone who is half Argentinian, I'm pretty particular about Argentinian food, and especially empanadas and chimichurri. I criticize almost every chimichurri I try at restaurants that serve it. These empanadas are baked, not fried, generously stuffed, flavorful, and incredibly well-priced for the quality and portion. They don't skimp on the filling -- the empanadas are thick and packed with protein, which makes them feel like an actual meal rather than mostly pastry. And the chimichurri is one of the most authentic I've found. That alone is worth talking about! I've picked up empanadas to bring to all kinds of people, and they consistently get the same reaction. My mom, who is Argentinian-born, loves them. My best friend's family, who is fully Argentinian, praises them. Even my Mexican grandmother has declared them some of the best empanadas she's had. That's a pretty impressive range of approval. I've walked in and ordered a dozen on the spot, placed orders for dozens ahead of time, and also tried other items like the Choripán and beef Milanesa sandwich. Everything has been consistently delicious. Whether I'm grabbing a few for myself, ordering a dozen for family, or bringing a big batch to share, Puerto Madero never disappoints. For me, this is absolutely one of those places where the drive from the South Bay to Santa Ana is completely worth it. If you love Argentine food -- especially empanadas -- put this place on your list.

It's mostly a small market for Latinos who are not Mexican but they also offer a deli area and hot foods like French fries and sandwiches popular in South America. This has been my favorite "go to" for fresh vegetables for years. I love the fresh peeled garlic…read moreand the price of fresh ginger is incredibly reasonable (compared to the regular grocery stores) They also have a great selection of Asian condiments, plenty of frozen seafood (mainly crustaceans), fresh butcher-style meats (beef and pork) I prefer not to buy chicken or fish from the fresh butcher though as I've had bad experiences for both. The only negative is the employees are not friendly. When you ask an employee if they have a certain item, COMPLETE WITH PHOTO IN HAND, I've had them look the other way as if they don't speak English or they say "NO" without even looking at your photo. Fortunately, this is not always the case, but I've had that more than once. Some are helpful, but none are very friendly or overly accommodating. They also have the "fish fry" area if you'd into that. I've done it a few times when I can find fresh fish that meets my liking and it does turn out delicious and, of course, beats cooking it yourself. Overall, I'm fine here and the prices are "good"....

Stopped by Shun Fat to pick up some groceries while getting ingredients ready for dinner, and…read moreoverall found some pretty solid deals. For meat, I grabbed ground beef, pork neck (currently on sale for $1.99/lb), and chicken breast. Prices were definitely reasonable. For produce, quite a few items were cheaper than H Mart, including enoki mushrooms, Japanese yam, daikon, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and carrots. That said, the Japanese yam didn't look very fresh this time, so I ended up skipping it and buying it at H Mart instead, even though it was a bit more expensive. Some items were priced about the same as H Mart, like napa cabbage ($0.99/lb), onions ($0.39/lb), and bean sprouts ($0.99 per pack). One change I noticed is that cucumbers are now pre-packaged instead of being sold loose, so you can't pick them individually anymore. They're also slightly more expensive than H Mart now. They also had a great deal on Driscoll's strawberries, $0.99 for a 1 lb box, which is definitely worth picking up. Overall, still a great spot for affordable grocery shopping, especially if you're cooking at home and want to save a bit here and there. (visited on 3/31/2026)
