    Guacamole

Just outright disappointment. Ordered through Uber eats and my guacamole came with zero chips and was a soup like consistency. Enchiladas, rice, and beans were flavorless and not fresh. Very disappointed and would not recommend at all.

Wonderful menudo with hominy! Tasted fresh and served hot with corn tortillas! We used uber so not sure on ambiance or service at the restaurant, but everything was handed to me clean and fresh in the containers!

I ordered a shrimp burrito with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and everything. They gave me a burrito with refried beans that's it.

The food was horrible. The people there didn't even know how to talk to me didn't speak one word of English. They only gave me 1/3 of my order and it was over $70 for two plates and I didn't get any sides. It was just the entrée I didn't get no rise. No nothing and my burrito was supposed to be filled with lettuce, tomato, and everything and shrimp. They literally filled it to the top with refried beans and then shrimp, it's the worst burrito I've ever tasted in my life didn't get no chips. No salsa no anything worst place I've ever been to in my life.

    Sneaky fee, after the fact.

Terrible telephone order service, customer service bad, portion size is skimpy, price for what you get is not good. Really terrible with getting your sides in the bag and lots of things missing from the order. Sneaky credit card fees that they do not mention over the phone if your placing a telephone order. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

Asada and Al Pastor tacos. Freakin amazing

If you are looking for awesome street tacos without being in a food truck on those rainy days, look no further. Los Jaliscienses is legit Mexican food and you get the full experience with the occasional mariachi band on the weekends. Their al pastor tacos are out of this world. Pair that with their green salsa and it's amazing. I also like their asada tacos too but I believe the al pastor is their specialty. Everything else on the menu is pretty good too but I come here mainly for the tacos. Yes they have chips and salsa and yes you can get horchata (which is really good btw) but this isn't your typical boring Tex Mex place. I've been coming here for a few years and their service and the quality of food has always been consistently good

    Chilaquiles!

My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast on our way out of Austin, and it was a pleasant surprise. A coffee, chilaquiles plate and one other plate (forgot the name) cost only $10. People are right when they say how cheap it is here! I had the chilaquiles and wow, that was tasty. I had the green salsa, which was tomatillo. There was delicious melted cheese, and some beans which appeared runny, but were actually great to dip the potatoes in, although they were a little skimpy on the potatoes. The coffee had a nice light flavor (not bitter), and my husband's plate of scrambled eggs mixed with jalapenos, onions, bacon on the side, and fresh corn tortillas, was yummy as well. I loved the three little salsa they brought out, especially the spicy, creamy green one...yum! Service was great, and they spoke perfect English. As long as you're not weirded out by dives near hotels that have funky architecture, it's definitely a great place to stop for breakfast.

    Mini Tacos

Just wow. As traditional as you can get , it's a restaurant with more than 17 years of service. The mini tacos are the real deal, the carne asada is sooo good! Their prices are fair and their huge margaritas are just $8 and so delicious. I'll be back. If you haven't been, I recommend going to try real Mexican food made by a traditional family!

Still in search of finding some really good mexican food in Austin. The enchiladas with beef fajita meat were pretty good! Was not a fan of their tortilla soup at all though. It was 95% chicken and soggy tortilla chips and 5% broth. Never have seen it like that. My friend had the menudo and said it also wasn't very good. Lastly, salsas were good but found a bottle cap in one of them so didn't eat anymore after finding that.

I was a little shocked by the decor in the place, but if you are in Austin wanting to try authentic Tex-Mex, this is the place for you! I even tried authentic cactus. Everything is inexpensive and delicious. Check it out!

Best fries I have had in a while.... yes french fries at a Mexican food restaurant..... I like that they offer variety! Fiancé and our co-workers always come here and he brought me for dinner! Great food and great prices!

    Live mariachi band!

I'm not gonna lie, this place is off on the side of the road next to a motel looking area, so I was a little apprehensive. Even after looking at a swimming pool near it with murky green water that hadn't been cleaned for years, we decided to check out this restaurant to try and get some authentic Mexican food. Man, was I glad we did. The store itself is super clean and cute, with a nice Mexican flair to it. After we sat down we were given chips with three different dipping sauces (all of them were absolutely delicious). We ended up ordering the super burrito and the burrito special. My mouth almost couldn't handle the awesomeness of this food. The super burrito was about the size of a small baby and was packed full of rice cheese chickens and lord know what other delicious spices. The chicken in both burritos was perfectly seasoned and incredibly juicy. The burrito special had a gravy that came on top and was also smothered with bright orange cheddar cheese. I couldn't have asked for a better sauce! This place is awesome. It's completely authentic Mexican food that is out of this world. Also, if you're lucky like us, you may get to see a live Mariachi band perform as well. Please check this place out. It's so worth it. I swear this restaurant could serve me some kind of burrito with a sauce that looked like the gross swampy pool water and I would guarantee it would taste good!

We absolutely recommend coming here and getting fajitas or enchiladas or Barbacoa quesadillas maybe all of the above if you bring enough people because it's all delicious! The restaurant itself is very well kept and clean. It does get a little bit loud, but that's only because it's always packed to the doors. Mama Betty's has a really fun outdoor patio space and always has great music playing. It's an awesome establishment to bring families kids Little League teams, office meetings whatever you want you won't disappoint anybody you bring. No matter who we have gotten as far as the wait staff they have all been extremely friendly, kind and helpful when it came to choosing something on the menu--everybody here has a wonderful and warm personality. They really have put together a home run of a restaurant and I hope that they stay around for a long time. Last, but not least the drinks are outstanding, and everything is very competitively and fairly priced. If you haven't tried it and are worried about it being packed come during the weekday at lunch.

Went on Sunday after Easter service because we were craving something a friend brought us during a…read morerecent meal train but felt it a bit lacking. First, the menu needs a rewrite for content and clarity. For example, buying fajitas doesn't list guacamole and based on size, single, for two and family you get more sides of rice or beans. There's no definition of how much actual meat you get and our server couldn't provide that information beyond a rough estimate. Second, the fajitas we got of family size and for two portions for 7 were not consistently cooked. We asked for medium rare and got about 25% at that with the ones in the center at a more well done. Again, the multiple tiny sides were more obnoxious than anything as it's legit beans and rice unless you want to upcharge. The cilantro lime rice tastes like nothing so skip that and go for abuelita rice which has a hint of flavor. Overall, the butter/gravy that go on the fajitas is the real winner but again a menu where you overbuy and misunderstand (that doesn't even list extras like guacamole or a simple small queso) was beyond frustrating. I would stick to them for one to possibly get a better cook.

Boom boom sauce is the star. The verde vegetarian sauce and deluxe tomatilo are amazing too. You can't go wrong with any of the those. Veggies enchiladas comes with two enchiladas, you can have different sauce for each. Other vegetarian items that we have tried are veggie fajitas, burrito, quesadilla and nachos. Guac is good too and comes in lot of quantity if you order as a side. Their jalapeno ranch is soooo good and goes well with their homemade chips which are very light. They refill the chips, and salsa and ranch as many times as needed. Oh and the best of all- tresleche cake. They run out pretty quick so make sure you ask for it up on arrival and ask them to keep aside one for you if possible. This location is almost always full so make sure you put your name on reservation list ahead of time. Parking can be little tricky on weekends but have plenty of spots in the back so should be able to find in sometime. I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

THAT PLACE IS THE BEST". Located off Mopac and Anderson in North Central Austin, this beloved tex-mex restaurant is situated in a relatively aged shopping strip less than half a mile from the highway. Parking is ample and available so there should be no issues with access getting to the restaurant. Although easy to get to, it's a whole different story getting into the restaurant. First and foremost, they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Secondly, they are so popular that you should almost always expect a wait. The pro move here is to book a reservation, but if you don't have one - anticipate waiting anywhere between 30 - 90 minutes in order to get in. Once in, you have the option to pick from a variety of tex-mex cuisine, including some local house specials such as the "crunchwrap supreme" which has an interesting backlore related to Taco Bell. Free chips and salsa (choose up to two salsas to try) land as soon as you arrive. El Dorado is known for its vegan tex-mex offerings so those with more particular diets will certainly be able to find something that works. The salsas are tasty. The serving portions are large. Highly recommend this place. The food was delicious and they do not use seed oils. The steak…read morefajitas were the best we have ever eaten anywhere and generous enough to split. The guacamole was mostly just avocado but they put pickled veggies with it and it will light you up! Our server was super sweet and did a good job and the place was slammed. It was SXSW weekend so all of the extra crazies were in town. The churros do not get cooked inside. They were wet and gummy. We mentioned to the manager and she was very apologetic and replaced them immediately. They were still raw inside but they were already removed from our ticket. The house margaritas were very good! Like I said, it was a crazy, busy weekend so the DJ had the tunes bumping really loudly. Not sure if it's always this way but with concrete ceilings and floors it was loud. Hard to hear server and each other. I'd still go back for the food.

Real rating is 3.5. Over all food and drinks were great. But there was a random dog running around…read morethe pool area that no one seemed to have control over. Kind of irritating when you're trying to relax. A cabana is the way to go but the seating for the couch slides all over the place. Service was great for how busy they were! Update- apparently the dog's owner is a resident of The Proper.....still not okay to be doing this....but grateful for the waitstaff for trying to manage such rude people

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Give them a shot, and thank the ladies in the kitchen.

Decided to come in and the cashier greeted us and was really nice and patient because of questions with the menu. The Taco Bueno is what I had ordered and requested no potato. Sat down and after a few seconds, chips & salsa was delivered. Then after a few minutes, the food came. Quick service for sure and the food, AMAZING. Anyone reading this, try this place out and if u like it, come back! Cuz we are for sure =D
