Some of my girlfriends were coming over to hang out, and we decided Mexican food sounded good. I found this place on Yelp with great reviews, and since it was nearby, we decided to give it a try. We ordered through DoorDash for pickup, and everything was ready right at the time requested. I even received a notification when the order was ready, which made pickup easy. One thing to note is that the restaurant is tucked away in the back of the plaza. The arrow on the sign in the front actually threw us off, and we ended up walking all around the building, past the pizza place and around the corner before finding it. It's located across from Star Aquatics and Fitness. When we walked in, there was a designated ordering area near the entrance. A couple was already being helped, but another employee quickly came over to assist us. I told her we were picking up a DoorDash order, and after asking for my name, she also asked how much salsa we wanted and generously gave us two containers of each variety. For food, I ordered the appetizer flautas and a birria taco. The flautas came with a salad-like accompaniment. The two flautas were cut in half and were smaller than I expected, but they were tasty and nicely prepared. The birria taco was packed with meat, which I appreciated, although I was hoping the meat would be a little juicier. The hot sauces were excellent, though, and definitely elevated the taco. The ladies seemed to enjoy their food as well, and there weren't any complaints from the group. It's always nice when everyone can find something they like. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'm glad we gave this place a try. Next time I'd love to come back and try the nachos or some of their other menu items. read more

Little kids like their burrito. They just opened for the day. The burrito came out hot. I had the breakfast burrito with sausage (difference is an egg). One breakfast burrito asada. One regular burrito with carne asada. Three thumbs up. Soft tortilla. You can eat it with dentures and it does not stick to your teeth. Some tortilla strangely likes to stick. I had them cut the burrito in half. Easier to eat. Their chips were thick. Their salsa was great. Came here because all the great reviews. Plenty of parking. Clean bathroom. Help yourself to water. Hidden hole in the wall taqueria! Items like their tortilla and salsa are all made in house with good quality fresh ingredients. Their meals are so comforting! I love spicy food and their salsa has a fantastic kick and very tasty. My favorite item on the menu is their Sope. Just tried Los Jefes Taqueria and it absolutely lived up to its 4.5 star rating. We instantly became fans. The food presentation looked fresh and vibrant, oh! and everything we've tried so far has been packed with flavor. This was actually our second visit after trying it for the first time last week, and it definitely earned a repeat trip so we could explore more of the menu. So far, our favorites: the quesabirrias are a must. The tostadas and carne asada fries are loaded and seriously satisfying, so be ready for leftovers. I've also had both the super burrito and the California super burrito, yes fries inside, and they're both massive. They offer a great variety of sauces, with our go tos being the salsa verde, salsa roja, and an unlabeled one that reminded me of La Vic's orange sauce, perfect with the burritos. The atmosphere is modern and welcoming, with big TVs at the bar for sports fans, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Safe to say this spot has earned a place on our Milpitas favorites list. This place absolutely rocks! I came here for the first time with my kids and we adored it. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. There's plenty of open seating and a huge parking lot. Walk in, order, then seat yourself. There's a water station near the front too. They offered three types of salsa (red/green, which were medium spicy, and chipotle which was mild). The chips were thick and obviously homemade. When I selected a burrito with a different meat than the guy suggested, he kindly brought me a taco for free with that suggested meat!! My kids ordered the kids quesadilla with birria (instant win), three tacos plate (fresh and flavorful) and I ordered the super burrito (meat was cooked perfectly and tortilla was nicely toasted). There's one unisex bathroom which is also spacious and very clean. Love how open and airy the main seating area is too. Couldn't get over the friendliness of the staff. The service is helpful, when I asked for sour cream on the side for one burrito but didn't for the other (I didn't realize chile relleno super burrito otherwise also has sour cream included inside) they asked if I wanted sour cream on the side for the second burrito. They also double checked that cheese was okay to include in both burritos, which is really attentive! The complementary chips and salsa is decent, the salsa is quite spicy with a bit of sweetness to it which I like included in most spices. Bathroom here is clean and parking is plentiful. The food was awesome. This one would be 6 stars if possible. We had the carne asada super burrito and the bistec plate. Burrito was good. Meat had a nice charred taste to it on par with some of the trucks that are well known locally. The bistec was the real winner. Their beans and salad were better than any I've had. And the handmade tortillas were delicious. I also liked their chipotle sauce. Service was good enough. You place your order at the counter and they bring it to the table. Water is self-serve. Kitchen was a few minutes slower than I'd expect, but worth it for the quality. Small place with only a handful of booths and a few bench style high tops. Sparsely decorated. Playing Latin vibes over the speakers. I was disappointed that while they had hockey games on 3 of the 5 TVs, none of them were on the Sharks game that was on at the time. Overall great food. Good Mexican food for this area. Can't go wrong with any of the tacos since they use hand pressed tortilla. The breaded fish tacos are really good. I've also tried tripas (extra crispy), asada, lengua, and pastor. The only thing is they cut their meat into really big chunks so sometimes it's hard eat because you get a big piece and all the filling comes out. They do super tacos with sour cream, cheese, cabbage, pico, and beans. They also offer hard shell tortilla for the tacos as well. I would stay away from the burritos since the meat is cut up into large chunks so it's really hard to eat in burrito form. They also have a sweet chipotle salsa and and a spicy habanero sauce (not typical sj orange sauce) You order at the counter then get a table. Free chips and salsa while you wait. A friend of mine suggested we try this place since it's been getting a lot of attention on social media. We came on a Saturday night around 7 PM, and surprisingly, it was pretty quiet. We ordered at the counter and got two sopes, one fish taco, and one shrimp taco. The fish taco was definitely my favorite, it had great flavor and a nice smokiness that stood out more than the shrimp. The sopes were also huge! We were expecting something smaller, but they were so filling that my friend could only finish one. The only downside of the experience was with the drink order. I asked for a Sidral Mundet apple soda and paid, but the cashier initially brought me a regular apple juice instead. When I asked if they had run out since I would have preferred a refund if so, she said they did. I decided to just keep the juice and started drinking it. Shortly after, she came back with a Sidral Mundet and asked if that was what I wanted. When I confirmed, she explained that it was an apple soda, not juice, in a somewhat condescending way. It seemed like there was a misunderstanding at the register, and I wish there had been more active listening or clarification when I ordered. Especially since the same staff member was handling the cashier, drinks, and food service, attentiveness is really important. The rice in the burrito was cooked perfectly, and the refried beans were what really blew me away. So creamy and well-seasoned! Have been here 4-5 times over the past few months, getting take out mostly. The take out has always been tasty, usually getting the burritos Decided to bring my family here for a late Saturday lunch. Wife had the enchiladas suizas, I had the super torta, and my parents shared a steak fajitas. My wife and parents loved their meals. Came in for lunch on a Sunday and it was pretty quiet. It's open seating and you just walk up to order. I ordered 3 tacos: lengua, cabeza, and al pastor. The lengua was ok-- it was sitting in a lot of broth so it was messy to eat. The meat was super tender but could've used more seasoning. The cabeza on the other hand was AMAZING. It was well seasoned, flavorful, and tender. 1000/10 would get this again. Al pastor was also good but the cabeza just blew me away. The handmade tortillas were a bit too thick for my preference and I think they could've been toasted more -- my tacos sogged up and were falling apart. But other than that ... great tacos. The salsa verde was *CHEFS KISS* and I wanted to drench the entire plate with it. Also love that they do complimentary chips, I feel like that's slowly going away these days.. but. One of the best spots in Milpitas. Cake here off of a recommendation after my son's game at Milpitas High and it didn't disappoint. Was greeted immediately from a nice lady upon entering. The inside of place has great decor and there's a bar as well. What I ordered: Flautas: Chicken flautas were crispy and the ratio of cheese and sour cream on the lettuce was perfect. Super nachos/fries: My daughter ordered this and she said it was the best she's ever had. The fries were crispy and the meat was seasoned well. Total stumble upon. I was passing through, hit up a bank in this parking lot and saw this taqueria. Boom, sometimes that's how it rolls. Cool inside, definitely has a vibe, more effort than most taquerias. Colorful, Mexican cowboy hats on a wall and loud festive music. Order at register but they'll bring it to your table if eating in. There's even bar seating, but no booze, just cervezas. Tacos ($4ish/3.5*) I chose 2 meats. Tortillas seem hand pressed but not sure. It was soft and thick. Warm through with no oil. Goat Birria: When I saw this I had to try. I actually only see goat birria in the 408, and even then only a small few do it. Typical birria flavor with warm spices and deep chili. Goat very tender but honestly if you didn't tell me, I may not have guessed. Just tasted like beef, just the texture is much more delicate, beef has thicker fiber structure in the meat. They also have beef birria. Carne Asada: Quite tender pieces of beef. Almost seemed like they braised it first then pan fried it. I loved the texture but the seasoning was a little bland to me. I think they could add an extra pinch of salt, but now that becomes an art. Not all are artist. Fact. I also felt that their corn tortillas are too big for the amount of meat they put in. I guess I'm more for team 'fat man in a little jacket'. Iykyk. I love when the meat spills out of a taco, just seems like bonus points to me. And this may be the closest I ever get to a Crunch Wrap...AND I'm okay with that! Lol Morisqueta ($18.50/4*) I got this for take-out and it fed me for 2 meals...huge and heavy plate. This was cut up small pieces of pork spareribs cooked in a semi-spicy red sauce. Served with white rice, smashed beans, shredded cabbage for garnish along with sour cream and cotija cheese. The pork was indeed tender and absorbed the sauce nicely. Lots of bones to deal with tho, and some bones were all bone with no meat, maybe the meat had fallen off? But with the red chile sauce, the pork pieces and raw cabbage, totally tasted like Posole, just say if the broth had thickened and wasn't so loose. Almost exact same flavor. I'm sometimes in this corner and now that I know, I can stop and get off the road for a sec and enjoy some decent taqueria fare. Welcome to my rolodex of options. We got the camarones a la diabla, a super quesadilla with carne asada (minus avocado), and a shrimp empanada which came with lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream on the side. Everything was delicious and made fresh, including the handmade tortillas that came with the camarones a la diabla. The sauce was nice and spicy too (and my bf is hard to please when comes to spiciness level). I meant to order the quesadilla a la carte, but it was fine that they gave the full dish cuz the mexican rice and refried beans were tasty and satisfying and went well with quesadilla stuffed with melted cheese and seasoned steak. The empanada was flavorful too, the shell flaky and crisp on the outside and the shrimp filling cooked perfectly. What happened I gassed this place up like crazy and I don't know if it was an off day but dam. My friends and I thought it was definitely pricy for that quality. The meat had no char today and I can visible see that the cuts of meat were worse. They gave extra sauces upon request which was nice but for $60, the food wasn't good. Camarones Empanizado- My husband liked the breaded shrimp but the rice and beans were very average.
