Me experience at Los Jefes Taco was just mediocre. We went on July the 4th and it was a slow day with only a few people eating inside. We were told it was open seating and ordered at the front. My husband got the three taco plate and I got a carne sope and al pastor taco. They told us they'd bring chips and salsa out. Our chips and salsa never came until my husband's taco plate was made. My Al pastor taco came but my sope came out much later when my husband was all done with his tacos. The chips were good but the salsa was spicy and I could not eat it at all or put it on my tacos. My Al pastor taco was spicy and I had to give it to my husband to eat. Usually, Al pastor is not spicy. My carne asada sope, which is this deep fried bread, stacked with meat, cheese, lettuce, beans, etc was just okay. Some parts of the carne asada were chewy or had big pieces of fat. It did not seem like good quality meat. They didn't even give me a knife and fork for my sope and I had to go back in line. Overall, not a great experience. I've had far better tacos and almost all other places.

Some of my girlfriends were coming over to hang out, and we decided Mexican food sounded good. I found this place on Yelp with great reviews, and since it was nearby, we decided to give it a try. We ordered through DoorDash for pickup, and everything was ready right at the time requested. I even received a notification when the order was ready, which made pickup easy. One thing to note is that the restaurant is tucked away in the back of the plaza. The arrow on the sign in the front actually threw us off, and we ended up walking all around the building, past the pizza place and around the corner before finding it. It's located across from Star Aquatics and Fitness. When we walked in, there was a designated ordering area near the entrance. A couple was already being helped, but another employee quickly came over to assist us. I told her we were picking up a DoorDash order, and after asking for my name, she also asked how much salsa we wanted and generously gave us two containers of each variety. For food, I ordered the appetizer flautas and a birria taco. The flautas came with a salad-like accompaniment. The two flautas were cut in half and were smaller than I expected, but they were tasty and nicely prepared. The birria taco was packed with meat, which I appreciated, although I was hoping the meat would be a little juicier. The hot sauces were excellent, though, and definitely elevated the taco. The ladies seemed to enjoy their food as well, and there weren't any complaints from the group. It's always nice when everyone can find something they like. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'm glad we gave this place a try. Next time I'd love to come back and try the nachos or some of their other menu items.

My boyfriend and I needed a bite before going bowling across the street and stumbled upon Los Jefes. He ordered a wet carne asada burrito and I got lengua super tacos. Both of us noticed the tender and good quality meat they used. The avocados on my tacos were a bit underripe, but definitely edible. I really liked how they served four salsas at the table, and provide complimentary chips and salsa for dine-in. Service was minimal. The ambiance was fun and rowdy since we visited during a world cup game -- plenty of TVs to watch the game.

Pretty good! The carne asada meat was pretty tender. Our 4 YO really enjoyed it. I liked the salsa options. Cabeza was yummy I think I would've given them 5 stars if the fresh tortillas were just a tad more flattened/thiner but that's just me

Little kids like their burrito. They just opened for the day. The burrito came out hot. I had the breakfast burrito with sausage (difference is an egg). One breakfast burrito asada. One regular burrito with carne asada. Three thumbs up. Soft tortilla. You can eat it with dentures and it does not stick to your teeth. Some tortilla strangely likes to stick. I had them cut the burrito in half. Easier to eat. Their chips were thick. Their salsa was great. Came here because all the great reviews. Plenty of parking. Clean bathroom. Help yourself to water. Order, pay, and find a seat.

Hidden hole in the wall taqueria! Items like their tortilla and salsa are all made in house with good quality fresh ingredients. Their meals are so comforting! I love spicy food and their salsa has a fantastic kick and very tasty. My favorite item on the menu is their Sope. I very much enjoy that crispy crust with soft hor masa dough topped with veggies and their spicy salsa The cook time may take a while. Be mentally prepared for that. I recommend you order way ahead of time if you order togo. Support your local business!

Just tried Los Jefes Taqueria and it absolutely lived up to its 4.5 star rating. We instantly became fans. The food presentation looked fresh and vibrant, oh! and everything we've tried so far has been packed with flavor. This was actually our second visit after trying it for the first time last week, and it definitely earned a repeat trip so we could explore more of the menu. So far, our favorites: the quesabirrias are a must. The tostadas and carne asada fries are loaded and seriously satisfying, so be ready for leftovers. I've also had both the super burrito and the California super burrito, yes fries inside, and they're both massive. They offer a great variety of sauces, with our go tos being the salsa verde, salsa roja, and an unlabeled one that reminded me of La Vic's orange sauce, perfect with the burritos. The atmosphere is modern and welcoming, with big TVs at the bar for sports fans, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Safe to say this spot has earned a place on our Milpitas favorites list. We will definitely be back.

This place absolutely rocks! I came here for the first time with my kids and we adored it. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. There's plenty of open seating and a huge parking lot. Walk in, order, then seat yourself. There's a water station near the front too. They offered three types of salsa (red/green, which were medium spicy, and chipotle which was mild). The chips were thick and obviously homemade. When I selected a burrito with a different meat than the guy suggested, he kindly brought me a taco for free with that suggested meat!! My kids ordered the kids quesadilla with birria (instant win), three tacos plate (fresh and flavorful) and I ordered the super burrito (meat was cooked perfectly and tortilla was nicely toasted). There's one unisex bathroom which is also spacious and very clean. Love how open and airy the main seating area is too. Couldn't get over the friendliness of the staff. We are already planning our next visit. This place is a new fave!

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Casual, fun atmosphere. The metal chairs at the higher tables are super cold though so wear layers LOL Food is also yummy and not pricey at all, I've gotten: - super taco with barbacoa no lettuce: I recommend! - veggie taco no lettuce: I also recommend though it's less flavorful with no meat imo - super chile relleno burrito sour cream on the side: yummy! There's a good distribution of all the ingredients and sour cream on the side is enough for the whole burrito. Cooked thoroughly and not too salty but still really savory - super chicken mole burrito: sometimes overly salty, sometimes not, very flavorful - super california burrito: yummy but once I took it to go and it had a bunch of watery sauce I guess? and dripped all over my clothes so I recommend eating it over a table The limes the tacos come with have plenty of juice unlike some places that give you tiny or really dry limes. The service is helpful, when I asked for sour cream on the side for one burrito but didn't for the other (I didn't realize chile relleno super burrito otherwise also has sour cream included inside) they asked if I wanted sour cream on the side for the second burrito. They also double checked that cheese was okay to include in both burritos, which is really attentive! The complementary chips and salsa is decent, the salsa is quite spicy with a bit of sweetness to it which I like included in most spices. Bathroom here is clean and parking is plentiful. Prices are soo good for both the burritos and tacos which I super appreciate! I highly recommend this place

Good Mexican food for this area. Can't go wrong with any of the tacos since they use hand pressed tortilla. The breaded fish tacos are really good. I've also tried tripas (extra crispy), asada, lengua, and pastor. The only thing is they cut their meat into really big chunks so sometimes it's hard eat because you get a big piece and all the filling comes out. They do super tacos with sour cream, cheese, cabbage, pico, and beans. They also offer hard shell tortilla for the tacos as well. I would stay away from the burritos since the meat is cut up into large chunks so it's really hard to eat in burrito form. They also have a sweet chipotle salsa and and a spicy habanero sauce (not typical sj orange sauce) You order at the counter then get a table. Free chips and salsa while you wait. We came an hour before closing once and the food came out super slow. Other than that the servers and owner are really nice.

Theres plenty of parking. The service here is really good. There was a decent amount of seating. The workers are friendly and attentive. You order at the cashier and then they serve you once the food is ready. The tortillas were fresh and hot. They seemed handmade as well. The sauces they provided went well with the tacos. The horchata was refreshing and tasty. The meats were solid. This place is a hidden gem and would definitely come back.

This is such a cute shop in a sleepy plaza! Go check it out. I came here on a Friday for lunch and the food was great! Here's what I got: Regular carne asada + al pastor: 9/10 flavorful and cooked well. The tortilla is perfect, it's soft and a little thicker Flautas plate: 8/10 crispy and well flavored Lots of parking!

Came here randomly to try dining in different Mexican Restaurants? This appeared to be a typical family run place of a fair size and small stature. So I ordered a fish taco and Green Sauce Beef Enchiladas. Quality wise it's great, the cooking took a bit of time but it can be forgiven for high quality foods. My only feedback is the fish taco is a life small for its price. All in all, a nice place to fetch some food fashioned Mexican food.

Los Jefes Taqueria Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Los Jefes Taqueria

Are the flautas wrapped with corn tortillas (aka taquitos) or flour tortillas?

They are wrapped with corn tortillas filled with plenty tender chicken and potatoes. Super crunchy, yum! I have to say they are one of the best taquitos I've had that weren't made in my mom's kitchen.

What streets are they in between? Or what other business are near by so I get an idea of area while on park Victoria drive? Are the flautas made with corn tortillas (aka taquitos) or flour tortillas?

Right by Dunkin Donuts

Are there any dishes without meat?

Yep! They have chili relleno, bean & cheese burritos, veggie tacos, nachos - all vegetarian options.

Listening for the number in the dining area while the music was blasting was difficult, so it's better to wait by the truck. I'm not sure if I completely missed it, but I couldn't find the salsa bar that so many other reviews mention. I checked both the indoor seating area and around the food truck itself, so maybe I was just blind that day. The sauces themselves were honestly really good though, maybe even a little too good because I feel like I drowned out a lot of the actual meat flavor in both the taco and burrito. The orange sauce has a really nice spicy kick that I enjoyed a lot, and the green sauce tasted super fresh and flavorful. They also gave extra grilled onions on the side, which seriously elevated the whole meal for me. Service was pretty quick and everything came out hot and fresh, which I appreciated. I did have a little bit of difficulty communicating with the cashier since there was a slight language barrier and my Spanish is pretty limited, but we still managed to get everything sorted out without too much trouble! I recommend taking the food "for here" if you have some time to spare so you can experiment with their salsas, which are the stars of the show. Just be careful and try not to load the tacos up as much as I did, because the salsas tend toward spicy (my favorite). Don't miss out on their pickled carrots, onions, and jalapeños. All tacos come with grilled onions and lime, which are excellent additions. I tried the Al pastor, asada, carnitas, and chicharrón. My favorite were the carnitas, which were well seasoned and tender. The Al pastor had a good balance of sweetness from the pineapple. The asada was solid. The chicharrón was kind of gelatinous and I didn't enjoy the texture but that's more a stylistic choice than me thinking they were bad.
