Senior menu tostada with rice and beans
Lynn R.

We were hungry at 4:00 PM so we went to Jilbertos for takeout. It was quiet in the restaurant when we got there but Leslie greeted us with a big smile and took our order. I was happy to see that they have a senior menu so I opted for à carnitas tostada with the rice and beans sides. I really enjoy there fresh hot carrots so I added some Of those to my box. The beans and rice are so good and so was the tostada except that the carnitas were dry instead of moist. I would have preferred that the meat had been juicy. The taquitos were crisp and fresh and overall the food was good. It made our tummies happy and we will be back. Next time I will ask to taste the meat and make sure it's not dry. This restaurant is always clean and shiny and busy on the weekends. They get the food out quickly. I like to patronize these small family owned and operated businesses. They do a great job here in Borrego and I am thankful that they are here!!

Home of the THREE FOOT MONSTER BURRITO, Food is delish and especially their salsa. I got a machaca plate and Kev a senior's meal of one taco that was good size.

Asada fries

Was looking for authentic Mexican food and did not find it. Burger patty wasn't cooked enough for my liking and the fries weren't it. Food was all very bland.

Cheeseburger

This burger was the worst burger I've ever had. The Mirage gas station burger is a lot better than this burger. I mean, seriously how can you mess up a burger?

Carne asada burrito

Went to Borrego Springs for the star gazing and popped into this little restaurant for something quick to eat. Little did I know, I would fall in love here... it wasn't love at first sight. But it did happen pretty quickly. The moment I held that carne asada burrito in my hand I knew it was something special. Coming from Orange County, my expectations were low (burritos are often overpriced, small and disappointing, to say the least). But this... this was different. First off, the size of it was something to behold. I'd compare it to my forearm. Ok, maybe not that big, but... close. Then, my first bite. Delicious... and even more exciting: it was pretty much all meat. Tasty carne asada. All the way through. Their salsas are also delicious... I would highly recommend their pico de gallo, and their red salsa. The pico isn't super wet - which is great because it doesn't break down your burrito. I wish this place existed closer to home... but it's not. Come here, support their business, and enjoy a delicious meal. My only con would be... and this is being picky, the tables outside were a little dirty. But I don't even know if they belong to the restaurant. And so, I'm going to give them 5 stars. That burrito has stolen my (hungry) heart.

This is the worst Mexican food I've had in Southern California, and it was expensive, and it is cash only. The hot carrots are good though.

Best burrito I've ever had! The woman behind the counter makes all the tortillas and sauces herself. Must stop. Don't forget to bring cash.

Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!! This is truly a hole in the wall that needs more recognition. You won't be let down!

Instead of telling us to take a seat wherever you want he told us to wait while he cleaned a table from a customer that had just left, so we waited patiently and he said please sit here. It was a small table against a wall and between the two other customers. When I asked if we could sit at a small table near the windows he said "no please sit here" Wow! We walked out and gave our money to Carlees which was excellent.

We sat outside by the fountain, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. We didn't realize until later that we arrived just half an hour before closing, but the staff made us feel completely welcome, and there was no rush. We ordered two margaritas (which were fantastic) and the kids got their drinks. My daughter had the carne asada fries, my son had the tamale, and the adults went with enchiladas and tacos. Everything was delicious, and we all left feeling completely full and happy. We were so impressed that we ordered a second round of margaritas, and the highlight of the meal was definitely the salsa--spicy, flavorful, and full of character. Overall, Pablito's is a great go-to spot where you can feel right at home, enjoy amazing food, and experience excellent service. We'll definitely be back!
