Disappointing. For the high prices, I expected a lot better!Definitely not in line with the food quality or service. Steak lacked seasoning and flavor. I was given the wrong order too. And let's not even talk about the mashed potatoes..absolutely flat, zero flavor as well. The butter for the rolls was cheap, low quality. It's all in the details and this "bistro" is lacking. I could get better food at Carlees to be honest, and for a better price. As for the service, the elderly waitress was nice; however, she did mess up our plates...no big deal (at first) but when she mistakenly handed my order to mom, the waitress intervened and said "no, no your orders are correct" and motioned us to keep our own plates. I was a little annoyed but trusted her and we proceeded to eat the plates she handed us. We realized less than a 1/4 of the way into our steaks that she did get our plates wrong. She had given me a well-done, hard-as-a-rock steak when I had ordered medium well. At this point, I was beyond annoyed. Needless to say, we will not be returning. I do not recommend!!

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night & decided to order take-out from the restaurant downstairs since we didn't want to leave the premises for dinner. They don't have room service during covid so we picked it up after they called our room. Ordered: 1) Wild mushroom risotto - this was good 2) Fried chicken - decent but chicken was not crunchy anymore when we ate it 3) Vegetable soup - my husband really liked this soup 4) Half rack of baby back ribs - the best entree we ordered tonight 5) Shrimp cocktail - 4 jumbo shrimps with some slices of avocado & cocktail sauce , good! Prices are expensive but we felt full and the meal was tasty. Got to eat it in the safety of our own hotel room!

This is a fine dining experience in the Borrego Valley. Period. I fly into the nearby airport regularly to come have lunch. There is indoor and outdoor seating the la Casa Del Zorro resort is exceptional. The food quality is great. I recommend discovering this restaurant location if you were passing through the Anza Borrego State Park.

Food is just so-so and the liquor selection could be more expansive, but the bar is very cozy. Bartenders are fun and attentive.

While not all Mexican food is created equal, I do tend to think that it's a type of food that is really tough to completely ruin. Unfortunately, I was proven wrong with this visit. I decided on a cup of the tortilla soup, and I ended up only having a couple of bites them throwing the rest out. The chicken was full of bones, which was so gross and not normal or expected for this dish. There were mixed feelings among the group I think, but those who were seating near me did not enjoy their food across the board.

We then headed to RED OCOTILLO for Breakfast. It was utterly FANTASTIC, from the service to the food. We had as our server GLORIA. It took us a couple attempts on the LOOP to get the right EXIT. We walked in and were directed to a table by our SERVER GLORIA. We got a great table right up front by the window. She started, by taking our drink orders. We looked over the menu, admittedly looking at it the night before. I selected the HEUVOS RANCHEROS, and an Arnold Palmer. As for my partner, he had a CLASSIC DESSERT BURRITO. We added Chips and Guacamole, made fresh on the spot!!! It could not have been a BETTER EXPERIENCE!!!

Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!! This is truly a hole in the wall that needs more recognition. You won't be let down!

The building also has a gift shop and bar. It is cozy throughout the building, specifically, a cabin feel. The staff at the counter were very helpful and patient. I ordered a kale salad with chicken. It was a hefty serving. I did ask for extra balsamic dressing at the time of my order and I'm glad I did since I had a lot of greens. Everything was fresh and the candied pecans added in were delicious and added a nice crunch to the salad. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they were perfecto! It was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. I enjoyed my lunch out on the patio deck facing north east. I had the view of the hills and got to watch people drive into or leave Borrego Springs. Some of the planks on the floors and side rails were starting to show their age or had been damaged. Overall, a great experience at the joint. I look forward to having another bite at the restaurant when I camp here again in 2025.

On my way back home in Ranchita I decided to grab Lunch in Borrego Springs at, Big Horn Burgers $ Shakes. 221 Palm Canyon Dr, Ste 956, Borrego Springs, CA 92004 https://www.palmcanyonrvresort.com/restaurant/ It was my second time at this Resort Restaurant but the first time after becoming Big Horn Burgers & Shakes. Nice Decor with a western feel and a small bar also. The Staff was super helpful and nice. Service was fast, friendly and quick to deliver. The Menu is small but well laid out. I ordered Their Most Popular Burger, The Double Desert Storm Burger Two Charbroiled 1/4 Pound Beef Patties, Pepper-jack Cheese, Crispy Sweet Potato Strings, Sliced Avocado and Jalapeño Cilantro Aioli. A Great Flavor Combination. The Beef was full of Smoky Grilled Flavor. Was a bit overpriced at $16.00 and didn't come with a side but was a Tasty Burger for a Resort Burger I will try another from the menu sometime. The Hand cut fresh French Fries were very good and only $3.50 Had to try one of their, Chocolate Hand - Spun Milkshakes. Don't know why they call it that seeing it came out of a mixing machine ‍‍‍. $8.00 Super flavorful and Delicious but also a bit pricy for a shake. Beside being a Resort Burger Restaurant and a little pricy this place is worth stopping for lunch if your visiting Borrego Springs and want a decent Burger to fill the hole. Enjoy My Friends.
