Went in for tacos al pastor and menudo as advertised on their online menu. They had neither. Waste of a drive, won't be back.

I use to visit this place many times while visiting friends in the area, but they have jacked up their prices big time. I use to get a carne asada super fries for $7.50 + tax and now they want $8.50 + tax for them! They are open 24 hours, which is a rarity in Grand Junction for any place, so it is hard to find a descent eatery place at the wee hours of the morning. It is always a hit and miss with the drive-thru. Sometimes there can be long lines and sometimes you can be the first up. Go inside and load up on a variety of free salsas! BEWARE!!! There is a Hispanic worker (skinny guy) that I have ran into twice and he always treats me with disrespect, by talking down to me, not looking me in the eye. I have gotten the feeling that he is very prejudice towards white people; which I have found to be true by confirming with another worker (whom I know) there, who knows this to be true. read more

Los Jilbertos a 4 star restaurant? I think not. I am a big believer in value, and this place has that.... But c'mon, they use the absolute bottom of the barrel ingredients. The cheese is oily weirdness. I have had an upset stomach more than once following a super cheap late night carne asada burrito with salsa Verde poured down it's throat. No it was not the alcohol, I was working. Side note, do not get into a fight with anyone loitering in the parking lot, they are probably related to the owners and no one will call the police or an ambulance for you, its a family thing. A++++. I've been coming here for at least 15 years and I love love love this place. I always get their breakfast burritos and if I'm lucky enough to bring along someone willing to share we get the carnitas (to die for), bacon, and churrizo burritos. I really wanted to like this place, and don't often give low ratings, but I unfortunately have to. The place is nice and clean, and the service was friendly. They have an extensive menu for both breakfast and otherwise. I was in the mood for a good huevos rancheros (w/out green chili like they do in Denver). What I got was eggs and pico on top of rice, with beans. Huevos rancheros are named as such because they have rancheros sauce. Without it, the eggs were ok and the pico bland. Perhaps I was spoiled having lived in Texas for almost a decade, but I just can't call this huevos rancheros. Was also hoping that because the sign said "Tacos" that they'd have breakfast tacos, but they did not. No points off for that, but a hint for new menu items :) I'll give them another shot the next time I'm in town given the high reviews. Perhaps I got the one thing that wasn't their best. read more

Despite my undying love for the carnitas burritos, I do have some complaints about Los Jilbertos. I have eaten here a number of times, and while I have never gotten sick, my mother and two best friends have both gotten obvious food poisoning. Additionally, if you order the super fries, be sure to look out for pieces of tendon in your meal because they sometimes tend to find their way in there. Due to the fact that undercooked meat and pieces of tendon aren't necessarily my taste, I no longer make a habit of eating here. If you are willing to overlook these things, though, the food is decent, especially for the price. read more

I am writing this in response to facundo on I asked for a split pint of beans and rice the guy says ok with my burrito but instead find out that he charged me for two pints each so I was like okay no biggie wish he would of told me that then takes him like 10 mins to get me my food remind you it's just my one order this is right before the rush of there drunk customers so I figured they would be ready for that atleast I then ask at the window for the bad of jalapeños and carrots and he says they don't do that... when did that be come I thang I just spent 15.50 the least you can do is have those that's makes my whole order every time just saying this is the second time with facundo he needs to be moved to the back or out all the way smh read more

Not many places in GJ are open 24 hours and this place is great - huge breakfast burritos for six bucks are the best in town.

I can't believe it took me so long to try! The food is awesome! I love Their beef burritos, cooked with potatoes and onions. The beef tacos give you lots of beef and if you do the combo, beans and rice too. Make sure to try the green sauce. I can't wait to try everything on the menu! read more

Los Js is excellent. Aside from being the only restaurant open 24hrs in GeeJ, it serves great food! I always order a burrito, and they're always good. Last time I was there I had the machaca breakfast burrito, which was excellent. It came with potatoes, eggs and cheese in it and boy it was hearty! The bottom line is that if you're feeling down and craving some good Mexican food, just go to Los Js at any hour and pick up a carnitas burrito and you'll feel better :) Now THAT'S the ticket! read more

Grand Junction needed a place just like this! Amazing food for an amazing price! And their portions are huge! In this case you definitely get way more than you paid for! So I see a single one star review dragging this down so I had to put my 2 cents in.... yes John J. its is greasy and drunk is the way of the warrior there, and the person taking your order may not even know a single word of english BUT... 1. Open 24/7. They may do the whole Cinco de Mayo, but they are still open (I think) 2. Pretty cheap 3. Always cooked to order, fresh almost every time (been there hundreds of times and never got cold food) 4. Friendly.. its almost like they jumped the boarder to work here! The cons go as followed: 1. This food MAY upset your stomach but shouldn't do that to the taste buds. (My fav's are the Fish Tacos, shrimp or fish burrito, Super fries or nacho's and the I always ask for the free bag of cut carrots and japaleno's. Both the red and green salsa are pretty decent too. 2. Crazy-Ass customers after bar hours. It is common to see some riff-raff making trouble or someone getting talked to by the cops there. So if you like people watching to the extreme this is fun but if not your cup of tea then get and go before 12am. 3. Again, the food tastes great but it has been known to make you hurt later. This happens for me about every once every 8-10 trips. Why go back all the time and rate it 4 stars you ask, well.. i love ethnic food, they are CONSISTENT, and bang for the buck you cant go wrong. Holy crap when the employee told me what the bill was for 3 giant mortar round sized burritos, I thought she had added wrong. The food is good, but seasoned for the gringo pallet that dominates this landscape. They're always open too. Reminds me of a few greasy spoons in Albuquerque and the lot. Mmmm...wow. My fiance and I had a mexican joint in Ballard, WA that we LOVED. This is not quite Melinas but pretty darn close. Service is fast, consistent and low priced. We shared a super nachos order. (tip: ask for the half and yes you should still split it) Fresh corn chps, carnes asada meat (alot), refried beans, sour cream and guacamole. All of this for $4.50 (split that with a friend and it's $2.25 each) top it off with their salsa/bar with your choice of red or green, pico di gallo and spicy carrots (my favorite). It is somewhat divey but don't let that fool you. This helps keep costs down people and the food is well worth it. read more

"Los J's" is a great pretty authentic Mexican place open 24/7! Tip: Ask for Super Fries with carne ADOBADA instead of Asada! Way better! First off, thank you Los Jilbertos. You always make my drunken nights happy again when I leave a bar or a party shit hammered and want food (i don't drive drunk). The food is not only available 24 hours a day (including the drive through), but tastes unbelievably satisfying to the stomach layers and taste buds in my mouth. The Super Fries and Super Nachos soar above super and should be changed to Sensational Fries. Think french fries or nachos covered in superb ingredients of cheese carne asada, chicken, beans, sour cream, guac, and a taste bud searing hot sauce. Mmm. Tacos and combination plates do not disappoint. So if your hungry, don't get fast food that will give you diabetes by the age of 33, get Los Jilbertos which the only negative aspect is making your girlfriend plug her nose at the stench of your bowel movements. read more

Growing up in SoCal we had Albertos Mexican Food. When I moved to Grand Junction and saw the Los Jilbertos sign it looked identical to Albertos save for the name. On a hunch I went in ordered my Albertos favorite, a carne asada burrito. To my pleasure it was the same. Delicious. I was home. I later tried my other favorite, bean and cheese with extra cheese.
