A great place to getaway from the coastal fog during our Monterey Bay summers! Sign in for the daily use of the pool. They'll give you a towel but you've got your choice of lounge chairs, metal (comfy) barstools, or tables & chairs under umbrellas. The latest remodel saw the addition of planters at the base of each umbrella leg..... One of every four planters has a power outlet! perfect for those of us addicted to our electronics, even while relaxing. the pool house restrooms are not the cleanest, but they are usually tolerable and somewhat well stocked. the main screen door slams and can be a rude awakening for sunbathers in the corner. I always open and close the door gently as a courtesy to those around. Its not unusual to hear multiple foreign languages. A fair amount of families come through the hotel from all over. Kids are welcome. WARNING: if you do have kids and have issues with nudity, the pool may not be the place for you. Not that it happens all the time. but I have seen ladies go topless on at least two different occasions. the bartender said the pool allows it----as they are a private resort. the music selection varies greatly based on the bartenders selection. there's a tv in the bar area. nice if there's a day game you wanna catch. there is usually a random collection of locals, truck drivers, construction workers, golfers, F&B/Hospitality employees. Its a Cheers-atmosphere in the sun instead of a dingy basement! ;) that can make for a long wait for cocktails, at times. but the bartenders and servers are typically very nice, welcoming and friendly. wish I could say the food is worth it. i'm allergic to seafood, so I haven't tried any of those dishes. the burger, pizza and BLT are all skippable. the chicken strips and fries are okay. The pool is nice, the restaurant is good, the rooms are clean. I remember the first time my sisters took me to the pool... I felt like I was in Miami (not that I've been) with the tall palm trees, tan hard bodies lined up around the pool basking in the sun, full bar three people deep with ripped bartenders with no shirt on (well one of them, the other not so much, the bald guy but he's cool... he's been my gentleman friend of 2+ years even though I'm not into bald men) and house music bumping untz untz untz well you get the picture. Fast forward 2+ years no more ripped tall dark and handsome man and the bald guy doesn't work there anymore either but today I saw Anna Banana, my dear Yelp friend who rocked it behind the bar and everyone was so pleased with her tasty libations and she looked so tan and pretty. I was hungover when I arrived today near closing and I asked for a water. Anna B. served me up the most delightful cucumber infused water garnished with a few thin slices of Persian cucumbers. I felt better immediately, thank you Anna! If you want to taste some of this delightful, refreshing and hangover curing H20 you will have to go there on a Sunday, that's the only day she works there. 3.5 stars. I have a close friend in Monterey and have been here with her several times. There is a charge to enter the pool but I don't know exactly what it is since I usually keep my tab open after paying it. Small lodge to change in and go to the bathroom - you can lock the bathroom but the small changing area in front of it is unfortunately not lockable though only big enough for 1-2 people. Love that there is a bar! I usually stick with beer or margaritas but believe that there is cocktails too. The bartenders sometimes seem too busy to talk to customers; I think you can order food from the adjoining restaurant too but I have not. Last time we were there, there were dozens of bees at the bar and one joined us in the car. Eek! It is nice to lay out by the pool, though the pool itself is pretty cold. One complaint is that there often seems to be a lot of guys picking up girls here - lots of people hanging out flirting. I get it, we are all partially dressed but it almost leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Almost like a club environment! I would come back to lay out, have a beer, dip my feet in the pool, and hang out with my friend. read more

Considering we take the family and buy food and drinks off the menu, $8 per person is pretty steep for an old pool without even a diving board and no lifeguard on duty. Disappointed to see kids using floaties in the pool two weeks in a row and then to be told floatation devices aren't allowed when I brought some for my children. Seems like a silly rule. I'd like a place we can go to relax and have fun. No floaties allowed but smoking cigarettes is perfectly fine, despite the children 5 feet away. :/ The food is always wonderful. Most of the staff is very nice. Overall We've loved this pool, but perhaps there's a more family friendly place around? read more

Advertised as pet-friendly hotel. NOT. Brought our well-behaved dog to the pool, just sitting by the pool, not going in, and was told by staff that pet was not welcome at the pool. Went back to room and was told by staff that pet could not be left alone in the room. So?? Come visit our "pet-friendly" hotel but don't go to the pool? Wow. read more

My sister and I decided to go to the pool on a Thursday afternoon. I had been there about 10 years ago, but not since. (She always goes). After we pay the $10 entry fee each, we grab some menus from the 2 girls up at the bar and find a spot to set up. No one came to take our order (which was fine) so my sister went to the bar to place our orders. She got fries and chicken tenders and I got veggie Vietnamese spring rolls. After about 45 min-1 hr her food came. Mine still did not. Which again, it was fine; we're at a pool so I didn't really care and didn't say anything. My sister got a side of something so she asked the "waitress" if my food was coming. The girl replied, "you can go check at the bar". It was an odd response for someone in hospitality serving people, but we didn't say anything. Finally mine came. Inside the spring rolls, it looked like either: meat, eggplant or tofu. I asked the waitress what it was and she seemed really annoyed with me. She shrugged and said "I don't know". So I peeled back the roll and tried to see what it was inside. We both could not determine what it was so I went to the bar to ask to ask the bartender. At the same time, our waitress came up with a plate of rolls and said "oh i guess these are yours". Apparently there was a mix up and she served me someone else beef ones and she served someone else my veggie ones. Honestly at this point, she was pretty rude and I already waited over an hour eating my sisters fries, so I just told her, "Its ok, I don't want them. Also, I'm sorry but I peeled back the roll to see what this mystery thing was, so you might not want to serve them to whoever ordered them". She looked super pissed and not at one point did she say anything that a server should say. Some suggestions could have been, "I'm sorry for the mix up. Sorry it took so long. Can we make you something else?" I don't know. ANYTHING along those lines would have been nice to hear. Instead she was obviously pissed and I uncomfortably walked back to my chair. We had two other friends that showed up also and were sitting by us. I got back and they were all nice and offered some of their fries to me. About 4-5 minutes later, the server walked to a girl that was a couple chairs away and TRIED TO SERVE HER THE MEAT VIETNEMESE ROLLS THAT SHE ACCIDENTALLY GAVE ME. Upon seeing the little flap of the roll that I pulled back, I was in shock. I told the girl, "You might not want to eat those. Those are my mistake ones and I was poking that meat thing trying to figure out what it was". The girl said, "Oh thanks. No I don't want them". The waitress was super pissed and stormed off loudly talking about me to herself. Other people that I do not know were laying out and just watching her in surprise. After a minute, I walked to the bar to talk to her. I guess I shouldn't have, but I was in complete shock and confusion why she was so mad at me from the beginning. When I got to the bar, she said the following, "I don't care if you ever come to this pool ever again! Obviously you don't work in the industry. I don't understand why you'd touch the food!" When I asked her why she'd serve that plate to someone, she said, "It doesn't matter, you are with that girl anyway." Which is not true. My sister and I walked in together and paid for our entrance fee to this server about 30 minutes before this other guest even showed up. Keep in mind other people were checking into the pool and sitting at the bar all while she was yelling at me. I tried to explain to her that I asked her what was in the rolls initially and she had no idea. I told her I had no idea what was in it and thats why I was touching the food. Which honestly, I'm not sure why I had to explain to her. She didn't care and kept yelling and talking over me. I also explained to her that I did work in the industry and was completely shocked that she would try and serve something that I TOLD HER I touched. I walked back to my friends and we all decided to leave. We each paid $10 to be treated like complete crap. On the walk out, a complete stranger, another guest stopped me and said it was absolutely unacceptable the way the waitress was speaking to me and she was in shock. She had to listen to this girl walk from us to the bar a few times and talk bad about me aloud. I have never ever complained about service received anywhere. Maybe people aren't the most friendly and that's ok. I don't expect above and beyond service cause, lets be honest, not very many places are that way anyway. But one thing that I can't not believe or have ever experienced is a waitress getting mad at ME for her: being rude, food taking an hour and not one ounce of sincerity, getting the food wrong, not knowing what it was, yelling at me for trying to figure it out myself and the cherry on top: telling me she doesn't care if I ever come back. Los Laureles Lodge Pool is 1st rate. I've been hanging out here for over 25 years. The pool is gorgeous, palm trees above, great bartender, drinks, food and great music to hang out to. I'll keep on coming back, it's a locals secret but hope they extend their season thru October as that is when some of the peninsulas best weather happens. read more

i hate to do this, but.... ok, i understand they allow kids now...very unfortunate. there was a 2 year old that cried for 45 minutes before they finally left.everyone was so thankful!! that being said, what really concerned me was that the pool just did not look clean. so i opted not to go in..that was a wise choice...there was another toddler wearing a diaper in the pool and he POOPED his pants in the pool!! how do i know that for sure?? because the mother changed the diaper right next to me and put it in the trash that was 3 feet away..GROSS. ;you would think there would be some sort of rule about diapers!!! i will not pay $8 to her crying, screaming kids and swim in a pool that kids in diapers are allowed. sorry..cuz the food is pretty good read more
