Ordered steak fajitas. Charged $2 for shredded cheese. Total $25. Food came out with grey, tough meat and veggies that had zero seasoning, and they were dry like it was cooked without any cooking oil nothing. Zero flavor. They just put old meat and veggies in an empty hot pan. Very bizarre. Between the complete absence of flavor and the tough meat, i sent it back. Then they tried to charge me! This was the perfect stop for lunch after visiting the Keystone Safari! They weren't very busy at lunchtime and were so accommodating of our group of 6 (with 3 little ones). The kids and adults all loved our meals. The portion sizes were large and everything was served piping hot and fresh! I highly recommend the quesadilla... one of the best I ever had! Went there for lunch for two people. Ordered the Fajita and chili relleno and beef enchilada combination plates, along with a sweet tea, coke, and their sampler margarita's (4 small samples). The food was good, but coming from California a little sub par. The ambiance staff and service was pretty friendly though, and they bring a nice basket of chips and salsa when urge first seated. The reasons for the 4 stars were, price (after tip over $50.00). The chili relleno wasn't breaded at all (just grilled, thrown on a plate with some cheese and red sauce. (When I asked the server about it they said they don't bread the chili relleno's here), Then I asked if they had Menudo (a Mexican soup with tripe and hominy), they said they didn't. This is the second time I've been here, so I'll probably be back, and do recommend giving it a try. read more

Perplexed by Butler's excessive saturation of lackluster dining establishments, I was encouraged by what Compadres Mexican Restaurant offers on its menu. Prior to its existence, Compadres was formally my favorite Chinese restaurant, the Dynasty Buffet. I am disappointed by the interior design as it remains nearly unchanged from its Chinese days, but I salute the management for thinking like extreme cheapskates. I was once told that General Tso was impeached from there years ago, so some blokes from across the border overtook the location and turned it into what it is today. Interesting story, and the food there was fresher than my paper cut from this morning's tax returns. The server was on point too, and you can't miss out on the guac. Let me start off by saying that the food was delicious. I had the chimichangas and enjoyed them very much. The service was a bit slow at the start but it picked up after our drink order. The prices were a bit too high, in my personal opinion. We came in at 12:45 and were disappointed to see that there was no lunch menu so we had to pay dinner prices. We had two small children with us and saw that the child's plates were $8.99. One thing I must mention is that this restaurant is literally right next door to a trampoline park. If they would develop a lunch menu and get their kid's prices reasonable, they would make a killing from the trampoline park crowd. The food is the best Mexican food I have had to date. The portions are extremely generous. The service is outstanding. Our food was served in less than 15 minutes from ordering. Wait staff are wonderful. Beer is cold and there is a good variety to choose from. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. Let's start with the positives. The place is very clean. The service was pretty good. The serving sizes were generous. Now for the negatives. There were too many special additions to the already lengthy menu. If you need more than one special insert you are making too many things. But the worst negative is the food is sooooo bland. It's like the chef never heard of seasoning. I know Mexican food isn't all hot and spicy but there should be flavor. A bit of pepper, garlic, onion, cumin, oregano, chili powder, or adobo the possibilities are endless but there seems to be none of that. The red sauce on my burrito tasted closer to watered down ketchup than a Mexican sauce. We actually got to go boxes and took the food home, added spices and reheated it to make it palatable. read more

We had a great lunch. I ask for hot salsa and they provided it. My wife had the beef enchiladas and I had carne asada. Both were delicious.

My visit today was perfect. I had a burrito lunch special. After taking my order, the waiter brought chips and salsa. Although the salsa was a bit spicy for my liking, I only had time to eat two chips before my lunch arrived. The plate was colorful and hot. The chips were fresh and salsa had a decent flavor; everything else was "meh" at best. My husband had Pollo con Crema. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be more than chicken and hot sour cream. The refried beans were terrible. No flavor. They tasted like somebody boiled beans and then smooshed them onto the plate. Great and delicious Mexican food and value for the price. I am surprised that folks don't eat here more often, it may be due to the decline of the Clearview Mall but don't let that deter you. They have a great venue and the bar would look like it could host some good after work drinks with coworkers. Taco Tuesdays is a great deal although I did not do the deal, my coworkers did. Lunch time fun with my BFF. If you haven't noticed I love love love Mexican food so when this chain opened up we had to stop in to try it. Our waiter was friendly and took our drink orders. I wanted the chimichanga but the menu only has it in beef. The waiter said it wouldn't be a problem to have them make it in chicken. They have a large menu with some good lunchtime deals. My fiance and I stopped in at 8:30 on a Sunday evening. Despite the fact that it was almost closing time, they made us feel very welcome and did not rush us. We felt bad so kept our order simple. Fajitas for 2 and 2 margaritas. We were given chips and salsa right away which were good, not too spicy. We were surprised how quickly the food arrived and how much. We each got our own plate with beans, rice abd fajita toppings. We barely put a dent in it. The margaritas were not great, just tasted like the pre-mixed stuff. First off, the waiter we had seemed to hate his life as he took our order. I can't blame him as the establishment itself seemed like it was lifeless and stagnant as hell. He took our order and even though I ordered a margarita and specified on the rocks, it was brought to me frozen. I shrugged it off blaming a bad day for our waiter. Whatever. The chips and salsa were flavorless which should've told us to leave as the rest of our food was bland. My husband got the taco salad with a side of fries,and as much as he likes food, he struggled with a grimace to eat it. I can't comprehend how it was called a taco salad as there was no taco spice at all. It was flavorless ground beef surrounded with lettuce, shredded cheese, and some sour cream in a bowl that could've had potential in a former life to taste like a taco shell. The fries were basically used old cooking oil flavored deep fried mashed potato twigs being as they were hard and burned on the outside, and mushy and cold on the inside. My chicken quesadillas were anything but. The chicken was fatty and gritty with very little cheese inside. No flavor at all. The tortilla wraps were crusty and brittle. They did come with Spanish rice and refried beans which were as tasteless as eating glue. Our waiter returned asking if we wanted dessert to which we denied as we no longer felt the need to spend money on flavorless food. I ordered the enchiladas de mar to share (it comes with 6) When the food arrived the dish had some sort of odd smell (and I'm not talking seafood) I honestly wasn't going to try it at all but curiosity got the best of me. It turned out to be whatever red sauce was on top. The dish has three different sauces. The green one was amazing and the enchilada covered with that tasted good. The other half in the red was gross. We ended up scraping it off. The sauce down the middle seems to be a cheese sauce. Ultimately I decided to just give up on eating the dish. The rice that came with the meal was bland. Seems like a good place to grab drinks. My friend loved his margarita but said his chimichanga was mediocre. Our waitress was amazing and provided great service. The place is newly opened and the service was quick considering that the restaurant was full. I've eaten here around 5 times and kind of like it. I'm not a fan of the tacos, but I do like the steak quesadilla. The one waiter is extremely slow. It's as if he gets lost or goes on break during service. Some of the staff seem cranky or annoyed so I'm apprehensive about ordering or asking about items when I don't know what they are.
