Food was delicious, portions were very well per portioned. Service was good. Overall a very authentic eating experience in down town butler. Will definitely be back.

Great place to stop in for a drink. Good food selections with large portions. Very clean. Friendly staff!

Went there for lunch for two people. Ordered the Fajita and chili relleno and beef enchilada combination plates, along with a sweet tea, coke, and their sampler margarita's (4 small samples). The food was good, but coming from California a little sub par. The ambiance staff and service was pretty friendly though, and they bring a nice basket of chips and salsa when urge first seated. The reasons for the 4 stars were, price (after tip over $50.00). The chili relleno wasn't breaded at all (just grilled, thrown on a plate with some cheese and red sauce. (When I asked the server about it they said they don't bread the chili relleno's here), Then I asked if they had Menudo (a Mexican soup with tripe and hominy), they said they didn't. This is the second time I've been here, so I'll probably be back, and do recommend giving it a try.

The guy behind me kept laughing for no reason.

Perplexed by Butler's excessive saturation of lackluster dining establishments, I was encouraged by what Compadres Mexican Restaurant offers on its menu. Prior to its existence, Compadres was formally my favorite Chinese restaurant, the Dynasty Buffet. I am disappointed by the interior design as it remains nearly unchanged from its Chinese days, but I salute the management for thinking like extreme cheapskates. I was once told that General Tso was impeached from there years ago, so some blokes from across the border overtook the location and turned it into what it is today. Interesting story, and the food there was fresher than my paper cut from this morning's tax returns. The server was on point too, and you can't miss out on the guac. Go for the chicken chimichangas when you stop by.

This was probably the best Mexican food I've had around here. I enjoyed my burrito mojado and wife enjoyed her enchiladas. We've been hunting some good Mexican food for sometime now and this is the best we've found. We will definitely be back great service too.

We had a great lunch. I ask for hot salsa and they provided it. My wife had the beef enchiladas and I had carne asada. Both were delicious.

My husband and I have eaten here twice--once for lunch last year and once for dinner this year. Both times, we enjoyed the employees' service and the foods. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Passionfruit-Paloma Mocktail - 4 stars - sour. Spring Sangria - 4.5 stars - slightly fruity. Jumbo Pretzel - 5 stars - huge size with beer cheese and mustard sauce. French Onion Soup - 5 stars - This soup had a rich broth, onions, and cheese. Ybor Cuban sandwich - 4.5 stars - nicely crunchy toast with tasty pork, ham, and Swiss cheese and a side of crispy onion rings. Salmon - 5 stars - I ordered this entree both times. The salmon was perfectly cooked and came with flavorful farro grains, cherry tomatoes, and asparagus. Filet Mignon - 5 stars - This 8-ounce steak was cooked mid-rare as my husband prefers. It came with whipped potatoes and his choice of au poivre style (black pepper crusted with bourbon cream).

The dirty martini was fairly pungent and strong so not sure I would get it again but I'm also not big on dirty martinis so probably just the wrong choice on my part. But the food was the star of the show. We ate so many good dishes- starting with the rainbow platter. Loved the baba ghanoush and the roasted cauliflower - those were my favorite of the 7 dishes on the platter. We also ordered the labneh, hummus with chicken and lamb shawarma, and the kafta kebabs (rolled up in some sort of tortilla) which were all fantastic! If we come back (which we will) I would just order the baba ghanoush instead of the rainbow platter, all the other dishes we ordered, and maybe one additional plate. I felt like I didn't really need the Israeli salad (tomato and cucumber) or the pickled cauliflower and radish that came on the rainbow platter. The hummus was SO soft and fluffy. This was some of the best food we've had in Pittsburgh. After having lived in a Philly for 4 years, we know good mediterranean/lebanese food and I'd be surprised if you can find better in Pittsburgh. Service was also very good.

We got drinks and 4 mezze / small plates. I liked my kiss my anise cocktail. It's rye based and was peppery and lightly sweet. My husband's cocktail was slightly sweeter and smoky. We shared four plates. I thought the stuffed grape leaves were a little slimy, but otherwise delicious. The Pierogi peppers were the most interesting item for me. They were pierogi filling in a sweet pepper with crispy onion on top-kudos on that dish! Out other two plates were the seared ahi tuna which had a nice savory crust and the chicken souvlaki, which was pretty standard. Our server was friendly and pleasant. The space was beautiful. Would highly recommend coming here for cocktails and small plates, the pizza at other tables looked pretty tasty too!

Nothing unused sat for longer than a few minutes. I almost didn't go but I am very glad I did. I will return and I will be telling friends, family & followers to try this place. The castle aesthetic carries over to the inside. It was definitely a choice lol but it is rather lovely. Not your usual dining experience. Try this place. Edit to add: a group of five of us stopped in for the brunch buffet on Sunday. We made a reservation as the website states any party of five or more should make one. I was apprehensive due to past experiences of brunch buffets. Usually all the food tastes very similar and lacks seasoning. Not the case here. They had such a wide array of options. We had an extremely picky eater and they left full. The vibe was casual with just a touch of sophistication. Really happy we tried the buffet and will absolutely come again.

Depending on the season and day of week, Shakespeare's offers brunch, lunch, and dinner. My husband and I ate one dinner here. We felt impressed by the 600 million pounds of boulders outside and the fun medieval-like architecture and interior design of the building (e.g., large doors, vaulted ceiling, oak panels, Spanish swords and shields, and tapestries). The seating hostess and the waitress served us promptly and politely. The dinner menu listed appetizers (e.g., poutine, pretzels, and wings), salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, chicken, steaks, veal, salmon, tuna, cod, crab cakes, pastas, vegetable sides, and some desserts. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Pierogi Flatbread - 4 stars - This flatbread had a wonderful crust, and it was topped with mashed potatoes, onions, and cheddar cheese. French-onion Soup Crock - 5 stars - My husband ate this soup. It had a nicely rich broth and onions and gooey cheese on top. Stuffed Shrimp - 3 stars - I ate this entree from the "moat," and I thought that it tasted just OK. Five large shrimp were stuffed with crab meat and lay on top of polenta. My side was a very fresh house salad. Queen's Prime Rib - 5 stars - My husband ate this entree from the "stockyard." A 10-ounce prime rib was cooked perfectly. My husband described it as "very tender" and "very good." He chose a buttery baked potato for his side. Apple Tart - 5 stars - We shared this dessert of a warm apple tart topped with vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed its sweet flavors. The total price for these five foods plus one soda was $95 *plus* tax, credit-card fee, and tip. My husband enjoyed this meal so much that he recommended that we return sometime to eat brunch.

We waited about 15 minutes before being greeted, and when our server finally arrived, the interaction was less than friendly--she never introduced herself or made us feel welcome. After receiving our drinks and placing our order, we waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive. When the meals were finally delivered, the server simply dropped them off and walked away without checking to see if we needed anything. Throughout the meal, our table had no silverware, no napkins, and empty drink glasses. My husband had to flag down another server just to get a refill, and I eventually had to go to the bar myself to get additional drinks. It wasn't until then that our server briefly acknowledged us, asking if we had received our food--which she had personally delivered earlier. The lack of attentiveness, long wait times, and overall poor service made for a very frustrating dining experience. While I can understand that restaurants can get busy, the level of service we received fell far below reasonable expectations.
