Since they were on Hoover I've always loved this place, it's perfect for family time. Very authentic, clean and overall a good eating place. My go to are the pupusas revueltas mad of rice flower, they are sooo good they never miss. The maracuya and different flavored refreshments is very nice. Wonderful service and a wonderful atmosphere. Every time I come in I'm greeted with warmth and the friendly owners/workers make me always want to come back. Not only are they one of the only restaurants which serve vegan pupusas, but they have the BEST vegan pupusas I've ever had. Not too greasy, great portions, and they taste fresh and delicious. I frequently get their vegan pupusa family box which comes with so much delicious foods. I am aware that the tortillas for El Salvador are thicker than Mexican thing corn tortillas. I called the location to get a better idea of what their tortilla options were. The lady answer the phone in Spanish so I switch from English to Spanish to just ask her a simple question. Are the tortillas thick or thin?. Who ever answered the phone told me that their tortillas are Salvadorian and not Mexican. Then she hanged up on me. My parents love this place. I am not sure why... they come with their homies here lol. We have gone to Los Molcajetes in the Pico-Union area since I lived there as a little girl but don't remember the taste. I am guessing that is why they chose this place. I didn't have a great experience and food was barely ok. I should know or maybe my mom just makes it better. Plus prices were steep for something that my mom can make at home. I ordered the Desayuno Salvadoreno which was just ok. The casamiento (black beans and rice) was super dryyyyy I wasn't impressed. My mom had two pupusas that were huge! and my pops had the steak plate which they both enjoyed. They also ordered ensalada which is a drink made of fruits. All of that came out to about 50 dollars! I also think that what set everything up was the customer service. The waitress was pushy and kind of impatient even though the place was not crowded at all.
