I came across this place one night I was looking for pupusas at night. I saw they were open late so I gave them a shot. It was about a 20 drive but I really wanted pupusas. I ordered 3 revueltas to go. They were really good!! I've since been coming here when I want pupusas when it's late. They have karaoke at the venue. Parking is limited, it's inside of a little plaza. The quality of the food was great the noise of this facilities average service was basic needs. Improvements . when you go into a restaurant, you expect the waiters to be tentative. They're not here when we were done. They didn't even bring the check. They wanted us to go all the way to the register to do so as I can understand, but you guys are a restaurant at the end this is not a fast food place so this is unacceptable. There's plenty of seating, parking could get tight. I have ate there once and my food came out 45 minutes later and our group was served at different times. It was a bit bizarre. Haven't been here in a while, the place is newly remodeled and it looks great. The food has the exact flavors I remember, very delicious. I had the pupusas revueltas, my kids had the bean and cheese pupusas, and my father the 7 Mares, which he said it had a lot of pieces of catfish, which is a plus for him. I stopped by El Salsabor on a Friday night for dinner. It's a small restaurant, in a strip mall, on the east side of LA. I ordered the chicken and steak combo plate, which also came with rice, beans, and salad. I really liked the chicken and steak. They were both very flavorful. The rice and beans paired well with the meat. The rice had veggies in it that I really enjoyed. Even though the food was good, I don't think the portion size justified the $16 price point. The waitress was very friendly. She checked in multiple times to make sure I had everything I needed. But I was disappointed with both how long it took to get my food once I ordered as well as the environment. It took roughly 25 minutes for me to get my food and the restaurant only had a few people inside. There was a DJ playing music inside the restaurant, so it was extremely loud - loud enough that I asked to be seated outside. After sitting outside for 10 minutes or so, they turned on an outdoor speaker which was way too loud for my liking. Would I return for the food? Yes. I would like to try a few other things on the menu. But I would probably order to go instead of dinning in. read more

The horchata... it's Salvi horchata... say less. IYKYK It is a little pricier but they're big that who cares!! 1 or 2 will fill you up. Parking can be a little tricky but you can get lucky. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I've ordered from here twice, all the times the staff were rude especially whoever takes the phone orders. First time I ordered from this place I was told my order would be ready in 30 minutes, I showed up in 40 minutes and my food was still not ready. I waited another 30 minutes At the restaurant for my food to be ready. Other customers would walked in after me and left with food before me. Whole time I was waiting at the restaurant I was ignored, no updates on my order. Food was ok this time around. Today I ordered for the second time, the lady that answered the phone was rude from the start. I asked if the restaurant was opened already since I was aware they had been closed for remodeling. She answered with "with we've been open since last week" in a very annoyed tone. I told her I would like to place an order for pick up and she said what do you want. I let it be since the soup was the main this I wanted. I picked up my food and I got the saddest, oldest piece of chicken. They gave me the spine and the little meat it around it was dry and old. I love this place, my go to spot for pupusas and pollo en crema! The platanos are also great, I'm looking forward to trying more stuff on the menu. Parking is alright, we usually get a spot but you might have to loiter a bit. I ordered one cheese and one revuelta pupusa. They are a really good size and the curtido tasted fresh and the salsa was good. To drink I ordered an Arayan. There was one one waitress but she was very nice and really good at covering people in the eating area, picking up orders, and taking phone orders. The food was delicious. They take card make sure to tell them the tip amount because you can't add tip after they have run the card. Private parking lot. read more

I'm so happy I found this little gem again, I visited about two years ago and everything was SO DELICIOUS but I haven't been back in East LA for a while now. I'm so happy that nothings changed and the pupusas are just as scrumptious, if not more, than I remember. I am Salvadoran, I've had my fair share of pupusas and have a few favorite places. While I would quite consider myself an expert, I would consider myself a well versed aficionado of this Central American wonder food. What do I love so much about the pupusas here? Masa is the perfect texture, thickness, and density. It's not heavy, it doesn't crack, and it holds the fillings well without competing with them. Fillings, I'm a revuelta & cheese/loroco or just cheese type of woman and here the beans & chorizo are seasoned well, cheese is generous, super melty (if it's not a word it should be) and the correct type of cheese. Curtido is by far one of my favorites. The pupusas are delicious on the spot but hold up surprisingly well on their two hour trip up to SB. This particular November night it was chilly and I wanted some atol de elote but it all gone by 5 pm, meanings it's got to be good!!! Next time!!! Cant wait to be back. read more
