Maybe I'm just nostalgic about this spot after have many lunches here with my coworkers at a former job, but I did love the food too. Admittedly the first time I had pupusas was here and the price couldn't be beat. It is very much you get what you pay for, but in the sense it's a good deal for something delicious and filling. I've had pupusas elsewhere now with more filling, but of course that meant it was more expensive so again keep your expectations to the price and you'll be pleased. The staff here always thought I was Latina and would speak to me in Spanish, but revert to English once they heard my broken Spanish hahaha. You can't beat $1 pupusas on Monday and Tuesday. However, with that said they aren't very good. They are thin, very little cheese and very little chicharron for the revueltas. You can't seriously expect a quality pupusa for $1. They are delivering a cheap pupusa much like a $1 hamburger isn't the same as a $10 hamburger. If you just need a cheap eat this place will do. If you expect quality, go elsewhere. Also, if you drive here good luck finding street parking. Ordered through Grubhub. We ordered the Gordita, pupusa, fajita, pork and yucca and the burrito. The food was delicious and the portion size was huge! The yucca was fried crisp to perfection. The fajita was very flavorful and the meat was very tender. It came with a large portion of beans and sour cream(I skipped the rice). My friend had the pupusa and Gordita and he said they were amazing as well. I would def order again. read more

Worst pupusas I've had in LA so far. I asked for 3 mixed ones (Pork, beans, and cheese). Maybe they gave me the wrong order because all of mine were plain cheese. And VERY minimal cheese at that. They were all dough, and super thin. I won't be going back. I'm not sure how they got a 4 star rating. read more

Authentic Salvadoran food with plenty of choices for the picky. 1 star for the service, because empty as the restaurant may be, they move with the speed of turtles with ankle sprains. When I went up to the counter after 20 minutes of waiting on my order, she shuffled papers and realized she never put my order in to the cook. Pupusas, where have you been all my life? Not having grown up around Latin/South American culture, I was blissfully unaware of the culinary delights of these Salvadorian delicacies. For those who do not know, pupusas are made of a slice of heaven, er, I mean, masa de maíz [maíz flour] formed into a flatbread with Quesillo cheese [a white, light Salvadorian cheese] and a variety of other potential ingredients: frijoles refritos [refried beans], Salvadorian chicharrón [ground, fried pork] or buds from the loroco plant [tastes similar to Swiss chard]. Not much thought was put into the interior design - booths + sticky tables abound. The staff are helpful + friendly. Being one of the few Asians in a predominantly Latino neighborhood, I often get looks when I go in there. One gentleman stared at me the ENTIRE time I waited for my pupusas. It is located in a densely-packed part of Westlake's 6th Street, making parking difficult. Usually I have a friend park in the nearby Food for Less lot and wait in the car while I get the food. For a restaurant experience, I would not recommend this spot. But if you crave pupusas or want them on a large scale at your next staff event, GdF is amazing. read more

I used to go almost every Monday and Friday for the 99 cent pupiusas, but I had to cut back because they're delicious but bad for the waistline. The women who work there are super busy, so expect to wait, but they're also sweet, so be sure to tip them well. And that means for takeout, too. Bomb salvi food. Must try! Make sure Rosie is cooking she gets down with the food. We always call ahead of time to see if she's cooking. The restaurant serves big portions and even though the price is cheap the flavor is outstanding! The have another locations across from LACC but this one is hands down the best! There's no parking so we always park at food 4 less and walk over. Gotta be sneaky but the food is worth the risk! The servers are nice too! A true gem!
