The carne asada plate was not good. It did not have flavor and it was a small piece of meat not worth for the price. The beef soup was I liked how the meat was soft and tender. I got a pupusa revuelta it was good. However the second time I came I got smaller pupusas revueltas I didn't like it. It had way more beans and cheese you could barely taste the pork. I also tried their pan con pollo it was meh I don't think I wouldn't get it again. The last plate was chicken soup with grilled chicken that was good. Talk about flavor and bang for buck. Was such a good vibe inside too with the World Cup matches playing on the TVs. The staff was kind and brought me a chair while I waited in the pick-up line. I did like the inside and the decorations, but I wasn't greeted at the door, and that matters to me. We visited Los Molcajetes on Mariposa on 8/23 around 6 PM. We had to drop my nephew off at Amtrak around 7:30, so because we were on a tight schedule, we ordered our food ahead of time to go. We've been to another Los Molcajetes location before and know pupusas can take a while, so our plan was simple: if we had enough time once we arrived, we would sit down and eat there. Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, the woman at the front had a negative attitude about us wanting to eat there after placing the order to go. She told me she couldn't assign us a table and sent me to the to-go area. The woman working to-go was actually helpful and told us it was completely fine, they had packed part of our order but could bring the remainder to our table. She told me to go back to the front and ask for a table. When I went back, the host told me the only table she had was one in an awkward spot directly in the way of everyone, even though I could clearly see several empty booths. When I asked for a booth, she responded with an attitude and an annoyed expression, basically saying, "I guess." At that point, I told her that providing good service is part of her job. I genuinely don't understand being openly angry with customers for simply asking to be seated. If you are that unhappy dealing with customers, hospitality may not be the right job for you. Then our waitress came over asking what we wanted to drink without ever giving us a menu. I literally had to ask what our options were. What really crossed the line was when she later made an unnecessary and disrespectful comment about me needing to drink my nephew's beer, apparently because I had defended myself after the way she had treated me. There was absolutely no reason for a server to make a personal, sarcastic comment toward a customer. I also asked where the restroom was and she initially acted as though she hadn't heard me. When I had to ask again, she simply pointed in the direction without saying anything. It was dismissive and rude. The frustrating part is that the to-go employee was helpful and accommodating, so this review is not about everyone working there. It was specifically the attitude and treatment we received from the front/serving staff. Customers should not feel like an inconvenience for asking for a table, a menu, or directions to the restroom. The food may be good, but customer service matters just as much. Based on the way we were treated, I will never go back to this location. Management seriously needs to address how customers are being treated because one person's consistently rude and dismissive attitude can ruin the entire experience. read more

My grandma and I used to come to there old location on Hoover all the time. This here is my first time coming back without her to their new location. This spot was one of my grandma's favorite locations. Their pupusas are amazing! I love the pan con pollo. It's so savory and the sauce that it's made in is amazing! All the veggies that are in the pan con pollo are so fresh and they actually serve the sauce they usually put in the pan on the side. I kinda like that. You get to savor it a little better with out a lot going on from The pan. I love their yuca frita and the staff is always so welcoming and nice. The breakfast burrito is tasty, stuffed with fried yucca, scrambled eggs, and bacon. It could have more Salvadoran chorizo (you can also pick other types of meat) and curtido, but the flavors were there. It's also the size of a brick which is great for ~$9. Overall ok, and I appreciate the ingenuity...I would come back to try their pupusas and tamales. The star for me was the super spicy red salsa served with it; it adds that bright heat to cut through the heavy fried yucca. The jamaica was sweet and refreshing too. Service was great and attentive. It's a great location, the restaurant is in the corner of 3rd st. & Mariposa Ave. you have an option of street metered parking but the restaurant has a small valet parking and entrance is on Mariposa Ave. The food is amazing and great portions, the staff is amazing very friendly and would give you amazing suggestions. We grew up eating these pupusas since i was 13 now 35 it was always a go to for me and my family. Don Juan was always welcoming and became friends with my dad. They now have moved location to a bigger nicer location. We stopped by on Friday everything was delicious and the place is nice inside. The reason it is not a 5 star is because we ordered chicharon with yucca and it was good however the veggies were not cleaned washed properly. The veggies had baby snails all over them. Once we told the serve he said okay let me take it back they washed them but gave us the same ones back then the serve states " i have a friend who eat raw mangos and never has been sick" its not about that we are at a restaurant expect things to be good, since we are paying customers. My only thing I would say is, be prepared to pay close to 7 dollars for these pupusas. A little on the pricey side, but I think you won't be disappointed with the size! Keep in mind they have a reward system, which it will accumulate with time if you keep coming back. For example my bill was 45 dollars and I had 8 dollars in rewards so I used it and it discounted me those 8 dollars. Can't complain about less money.
