Cute hole in the wall Salvadoreñean restaurant in Ktown. My friends and I shared the pupusas and plantanos con frijoles. The food was good, my favorite was the queso pupusa. With the spicy sauce and picked cabbage, it was yummy. The cheese was stretchy and the cabbage provided a fresh crunch. The revuelta pupusa was just decent for me. The plantains with beans were new to me. the plantains were cooked nicely and it actually was a great combo with the beans. I definitely want to try them with the crema next time. The food was amazing! If you want authentic Salvadorian food come here, very cute and it looks quaint. However! The service is not so good, they take forever to take your order and it was near empty, we asked for the check twice and it never came we had to go up and pay, the girl we had asked twice was on the phone. We thought she was taking an order, when we went there she was on the phone talking about someone's husband. Anywho this place is bomb but only do take out order don't sit and eat here. read more

I haven't been here in a while, but this is a little hidden spot near Korea Town that has some of the best Salvadoran food. They have really good prices. The food is always hot and fresh. I really love the breakfast that comes with the pupusa three different meat beans Eggs, cheese, and more, very filling. They also have a bar there which is really affordable. read more

I don't know about you but my main test for whether a place passes my legit/authentic food spot is the beans! I'd your beans are solid I'm down! This place has deliciousness (yeah i used the word correctly) when it comes to beans! The breakfast dish was delish! Give me platanos (plantains) with fried beans and fresh crema (cream) and I'm good! Add to it Salvadoreno sausages and it's game over! (In a good way, with story-mode and everything lol). Also, since I'm a glutton for delicious food, I added a chicken tamale. It was also pretty darn good! I can't wait to return! Parking can be a challenge depending on when you go. The pupusa were old or cooked in a hurry they completely fell apart as you grabbed them you can literally separate the top from the bottom like if they had two tortillas and slapped them together and cooked on heavy oil, the cheese was not cheesy (de loroco) and the pork was salty .. not sure what happened but did not like at all read more

The service staff here is terribly unfriendly. I live near by and walked over to try something new...when I got there no one greeted me, I stood there waiting for few minutes. I have walked by this place on my way home SO many times but never stopped in. One rainy Sunday, our usual favorites were closed so we ended up here.... best thing that could have happened! El Amanecer (pardon my gringaness; I thought the name meant some kind of bird because of the pictures/logo, but I was way off) is a cute, two-story, homey restaurant. We ordered wine, beer, a cheese and squash blossom pupusa, fried plantains, and a carne asada/eggs plate. Everything was outstanding! I've tried a lot of pupusas since moving to K-town and this was one of the best I've had. Prices were way more than reasonable, too. Service was friendly, and we were very, very glad we tried this place. Side note: I don't know why, but the "Limite 3 Cervezas por Persona" sign made me giggle. When I was a kid, a roofer/plumber/I don't remember came to our house for an estimate, and hit on my mom. All he really said was that he "was looking for a hard-working woman like her, and only drinks 3 beers a day (all in Spanish)" We made fun of her ever since and referred to him as the Tres Cervezas guy. Kids are assholes, and they never forget the things you probably want them to forget. The sign made me wonder how many drunk people it took to warrant a drink limitation sign to be printed, and it made me also think that if that guy is still single and looking, it would be the perfect place for him to take a lady on a date! That had nothing to do with my review but it's one of the reasons why I like this place. Great restaurant. read more

Popusas are delicious and always hit. The price is sort of on the higher end but it is worth it. The service was very good no rudeness or complaints. The ambiance reminds me of a house. The only sort of bad thing was the food takes a while to get served. It took around 30 minutes to get our food but it is very worth it. read more

I asked the guy to not add beans or the salad like 4 times when I was ordering the food yet he still brought my plate with rice & beans. Don't even bother. That's all I'm going to say. Food was basic, the empanadas were TOO sweet. The arrayan tasted like medicine, and they literally charged me 5 dollars for a small container of cream. I love this place..this is my go to place for pupusas near my job, This is 100% a Salvadoran place, from the decor to the staff to the clientele to the vendors who walk in to sell you bootleg movies and knick knacks. The food is made fresh to order so prepare to wait during the lunch hour and it can get tight in here since it's pretty tiny even thou it's 2 floors. It is on the big of the pricey side compared to most places to get pupusas but I don't mind the cost since I love these pupursas. read more

I made a phone order for my office in K-town and I spoke with a woman WHO assured me there would be no issues if we had multiple orders but was a bit hesitant. This place is excellent. The food is very authentic and isn't a sauce-ridden Americanized version of El Salvadorean food. The Carne Asada is excellent and very flavorful. The Panes Con Gallina is much larger than pictured on the menu and comes with a large portion of chicken and a flavorful sauce. The Papuspas are all great. Every table has a red sauce made by the restaurant. Try it! It's mild but very flavorful. Everyone I take to El Amanecer Salvadoreno is impressed with both the food and prices. Pupusas! The revuelta pupusa was just okay and the lorroco was not too amazing. Fortuntaley, their cortido helped out a lot. Not the best cortido that I've had, but far from the worst either. Maybe 2.5/5 stars realistically. Had a pastilito here as well - over cooked and not amazing as well. Maybe they just don't well on appetizers/small plates? My entree was a much better, the chicken guisado. It looks llke your getting more than you ask for, but really it's just two large chicken wings covered in spices. I thought that with the pusasa's that I ordered, that I'd easily have lunch & dinner. No matter, the flavors of the spices and chicken melded so well that I it took my mind off the pupusa let down.
