Half of the yummy guayaba ring
    Monica B.

For $30 we had two water smoothies, that were healthy yet had subpar flavor and not smoothies rather fruit juice mixed with water. The eggs, beans and rice accompanied by a small arepa with cheese tastes real good. The food portions are big! My favorite treat there was the Guyaba bread ring at 1.50-- it was as big as my face and sprinkled with light granulated sugar. Sweet and fast service but busy so before getting in line to order, check out the menu and take your time. Ask questions! Small place and a little warm inside. The quality of food is not gourmet rather flavorful, home cooking style. STUFFED.

I'm not going to pretend that I am the best person to determine what an authentic Colombian experience is (never had the pleasure of visiting Colombia), but if this isn't it, I can't imagine what they're missing. The staff speaks to you in Spanish exclusively, which made me glad one of my boys is Honduran. The TVs all over the place are playing what appear to be Colombian music videos that were made in the 80s featuring old men and attractive young women. They've got buckets of Colombian beer and frosted mugs so cold that the beer turned to slush around the sides. They've got a platter called the Bandeja la Berraca that consists of rice, beans, steak, plantains, eggs, avocado salad, little corn cakes, blood sausage, other sausage (amazing), and a giant side of chicharron. Eat and drink to you're bursting, while adorable Colombian kids run around the place. And rejoice that you live in NYC, where these things can be had.

They have large screen TVs for what I assume is to host sports watching. They have paper and digital menu which is helpful to make selections, however the digital menu isn't fully complete with pics yet. I think the quality of food is top notch having tried other Colombian restaurants in the area. Particularly loved the calentado and freshness of chorizo and all other items included in my desayuno Raices pictured here. Can also come in an grab a quick bite -- pandebono, boñuelo, empanada. etc -- its all very tasty. Would recommend. Wish they had one closer to the city!

We were actually surprised it wasn't busier for a Saturday, but that worked out great for us since our party of four (2 adults and 2 kids) was seated right away. The menu was available on an iPad, which made browsing easy. I ordered the grilled chicken with rice, beans, and sweet plantains. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. My husband ordered the chicken with a white sauce and really enjoyed his meal as well. My older daughter loved her grilled steak so much that she had to take some home for later! My youngest kept it simple with chicken fingers, which she happily finished. They also offer fresh juices. The girls ordered mango and strawberry juices, and both were delicious. One thing we thought was really cool was that the TVs played the music videos for the songs that were playing throughout the restaurant, which added a fun atmosphere. Before leaving, we checked out the bakery section and picked up a Nutella croissant and a chocolate loaf. The girls absolutely loved both treats! The staff was attentive and friendly throughout our visit, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a great meal and will definitely be coming back.
