My husband ordered the chicken with a white sauce and really enjoyed his meal as well. My older daughter loved her grilled steak so much that she had to take some home for later! My youngest kept it simple with chicken fingers, which she happily finished. They also offer fresh juices. The girls ordered mango and strawberry juices, and both were delicious. One thing we thought was really cool was that the TVs played the music videos for the songs that were playing throughout the restaurant, which added a fun atmosphere. Street parking was pretty easy to find, as it was on a mostly residential street. The place was basically empty when we got there with about 2 tables occupied. The menu says one price but they charged us a different price. On the menu, there is a very small sticker that says "prices are subject to change" in Spanish but was not communicated to us until I pointed out the price difference. There is also a surcharge for credit card. Their dish la lechona Colombiana was quite unique, you're presented with a piece of the skin on top of a bed of fried rice consisting of beans and lechon meat with an arepa on the side. The skin was definitely very crispy and flavorful but I really wished there was more of it. The chaufa tasted a bit old, with rough pieces of pork. My boyfriend agreed that we both preferred lechon with the meat intact. It was his first time trying bandeja paisa whereas I grew up with it and had it for many years from different restaurants in different cities. He liked the amount of protein in it, however he didn't really like the overall taste as much. He didn't like that the carne asada was so chewy and hard to cut, not to mention we were charged an extra $2 for it (before tax + surcharge) and wished we had just kept the original carne molida it came with. As for the chicharron, I liked the portion they provided. However, it had the same problem as the carne asada except worse. The chicharron was so frustratingly chewy that I was at war with it for so long before I finally gave up and decided to wait until we get home to throw it into the air fryer to crisp it back up. For context, we ate the food right away since we were nowhere near home so the chicharron and carne asada really should not be chewy at all. As for the rest of the bandeja; the chorizo was juicy and flavorful, the platano was alright (nothing wrong with it, I just prefer my platano maduro to be more soft), the aguacate was borderlining going bad and was probably refrigerated for that reason, the fried egg and white rice was decent, and both arepas were room temperature (this varies by restaurant, but typically arepas are best served warm or slightly grilled before serving - for those not as familiar with Colombian food, it's like eating a room temp tortilla vs a nice warm tortilla - it really makes a difference!). Overall, the meal was halfway decent (good in portion size, OK in taste, bad in texture) but we would've appreciated more transparency with the pricing. I noticed a couple other reviews mentioning hidden charges so definitely heads up on that.
