Their blackened shrimp tacos are so freaking good! Best tacos I have ever had, no exaggeration. The shrimp are always perfectly cooked. The spicy seasoning pairs well with the sweetness of the mango salsa. The cabbage and the crema tie everything together to make a perfect taco. I ate them so quick! I also have had their melon aquas frescas, so refreshing. You have to try them!

Love all the staff! It truly is like family there from the kitchen to the cashier. Always a welcoming happy vibe and a happy colorful family setting. The food is always top top! Prawn Tacos or fish or the Tofu Tostada you can't stop ordering! The kids chicken enchiladas is a perfect bit as well or the street burger! They have all these daily specials that I am torn between the spicy ground beef tacos on Wednesday or Al Pastor Wednesday! ! Took Pictures of their new extra offerings if you are local and unaware of these little picture stands! Joe's is the iconic local spot!

Located next to the 2am Club with a shared outdoor deck, Joe's Taco Lounge was a great place to meet up with friends before heading to a concert. I've only tried the market veggie enchiladas which came with a side of beans and rice which all were pretty good, if not amazing. Order at the counter and food is brought to your table. The staff were very nice. Tip: if you sit outside on the deck, you can order a drink from the bar next door to enjoy with your food.

Joe's is a great place to get a bite to eat. The atmosphere is light and the service is friendly. Lots of menu options even for the picky eater. Food was delicious and arrived to us promptly. Highly recommend if your in the area. Absolutely worth the price, portions were perfect.

Grilled fish and Vallarta fish tacos

Very inviting outdoor seating under some dappled sunlight or in the shade. Not too busy on a Sunday afternoon as well. We had the fish tacos: grilled fish and the Vallarta. I was told it was mild spicy...but it was definitely medium spicy as the spice overpowered the fish so much that I really couldn't tell you it was fish if it weren't for the texture. They are many hot sauce options available here to complement your dish, so less spiciness would make the tacos better and attract a wider range of people. Last thing, the sangria was definitely mixed with half water and half sangria then poured over ice. It was mostly water.... I wished I had just ordered juice instead.

Subpar Mexican restaurant that we went to since it was close to Muir Woods. They have an authentic vibe, an expansive menu, and lovely staff who were nothing but kind; however, their food was lacking and on the pricier side. We had the special of mole enchiladas and regular chicken enchiladas. The mole sauce was watered down and too sweet, while the regular chicken enchiladas were a little dry. They also charge $3.50 for chips and salsa.

I have been coming to this small funky restaurant for years. I used to bring my kids here too and that really like that. This is set in what looks like an old diner by the way the seating is it has a pretty solid menu of normal Mexican favorites, but the quality is good as in items like fish tacos, which use snapper instead of that cheap Farms tilapia one kind of unique thing about this place is the walls are covered in many bottles of salsa for you to get up and go and take to use on your food also all of the Mexican religious artifacts of candles, etc., on the walls which add to the unique vibe this place I recommend it

    Lid to big

Today we ordered a salad Fresca and a Jamaican agua fresca, but the service was terrible. Supposedly, if you order to-go, they need to give you a fork and a napkin. The agua fresca had a lid that was too big and spilled in the car because the lid didn't fit. The lettuce was rotten, and they gave you a pittance, and the salad costs over $20. I have to eat in my car, and when they don't give me what I need, the good thing is that 7/11 is very close so I can go grab what the place where you bought lunch didn't have. Please be more careful with your takeout orders so we don't have any trouble before our lunch. Thank you so much.

Not a good nite for Joe's tonite. My go to fried tofu burrito was extremely salty and the snapper in hubby's Ensenada snapper fish taco was overcooked and there wasn't enough slaw or sauce - very bland. Daughter's rock shrimp enchilada was delicious.

    Burrito, mojado style.

Because of that, my experience may be influenced by expecting a bit higher quality, especially given the other food options in the area The Cantina in Mill Valley is a pretty standard Mexican spot with a Tex-Mex lean. I usually enjoy this style of food; I was a big fan of places like El Torito in SoCal, but this one didn't quite land for me. We ordered two burritos. The portions were generous, but the flavors were very mild. I love bold, spicy food, and these were lacking seasoning in my opinion. I ended up taking half home and adding avocado, lemon, and salsa from my own kitchen to give it the punch it was missing. We also tried the queso fundido, which was interesting. I hadn't had it prepared quite like that before, and it definitely leaned more Tex-Mex. It wasn't bad, just different from what I expected. Unfortunately, the service was a letdown as well. I had to find menus myself, and the only ones available at the bar were happy hour menus. Later, the server told us that happy hour isn't honored on holidays, which was disappointing. If that's the case, those menus shouldn't be out at all--it sets expectations that weren't met. Overall, if you're looking for a basic Tex-Mex spot and aren't big on spice, this might work for you. For me, between the bland food and the service issues, it's not a place I'd rush back to.

First of all, we came during an off-hour, around 3:30pm, and there was still a line to order at the counter. They provided complementary ice water from a dispenser outside with cups, which was really nice. Once we placed our orders, we stood outside with everyone else as the indoor area is pretty small with only limited counter seating at the window. We waited about 5 minutes to order and another 10-15 for our food. Most people set up camp on the tailgates of their cars in the parking lot, so we did the same. Pro tip: some people brought camping chairs and coolers to make it into a real tailgate, which I thought was really cool. - Pollo al horno: ordered the Large plate which came with generous portion of chicken, white rice, choice of fried garlic plantain or sweet plantain (or one of each), side of beans (choice of black or pink), and a side salad. Chicken was marinated very nicely and wasn't too dry. - Bistec encebollado: ordered the Large plate also which came with the same as above. Steak was cooked well and surprisingly tender enough to cut easily. Both plantains were good but I really liked the garlic one because it was different than the sweet plantains I'm used to. The Large plate portion sizes were huge! Although the price did reflect this, I think it was still worth for the amount of food given.

But here's a hot tip- the kid menu pizzas are totally full size pizzas, which the waiter failed to mention. So 1 cheese pizza could easily feed 2-3 little kids. We ordered one for each kid and went home with a TON of cheese pizza leftovers. The zucchini fries are tasty but served with an aoli that tasted like straight mayonnaise. Dinner for 4 , plus tax and tip came to $150. We're going with a solid 3 stars. An overall decent experience, but nothing to get too excited about.

Got there around 3pm and was told that a table for two would be about a 30 minute wait, so it was not as bad as we thought it would be, considering that the whole parking lot (which was probably the only downside; it being made of gravel and without distinct parking designations making finding a spot incredible difficult and annoying) was full. The inside vibe was great, with tons of people drinking/eating and having a good time. When we got seated, we ended up ordering just a few oysters and a 3pc fish and chips. The oysters were pretty good and fresh, with a great vinaigrette on the side to pair with them. The fish and chips, however, were the obvious stars of the show. The fish were nice and golden, with a very crisp texture, and more importantly large and generous. The fries were nicely seasoned and plentiful. The fish was really tasty (you can choose the type of fish depending on what they have on hand, and some cost extra between $2-$10. We chose the standard option for the day: Rockfish), easily one of the better fish and chips I have had - just an incredibly simple, but well executed dish. While the tartar sauce was a good pairing, the real standout pairing was Hook Fish's own carrot habanero hot sauce with the tartar sauce and the oyster vinaigrette. I have never had something like a carrot based hot sauce, but it really works by contrasting the spiciness of the habanero with a slightly sweet carrot undertone. Strange, but it gave the classic fish and chips a unique twist that sets it apart from the competition. While eating we saw tons of different dishes fly out the kitchen as well, such as poke burritos, large portions of chips and salsa/guacamole, and fish tacos. After the experience we had that day, we will be forsure making another round back to Hook Fish to try some of their other options. Their fish and chips are a must.

I came around 4:30pm, and the restaurant was empty, so we were seated immediately. Service was quick and efficient. I did hear a lot of the loud conversation between the two girls at the register about Instagram and TikTok.... I ordered the super burrito, which was nicely toasted, but overall it was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out either. There was no real spice or bold flavor, and I couldn't quite figure out what it was missing. The horchata was pretty basic. It tasted more like plain milk with cinnamon sprinkled on top rather than the richer, more flavorful horchata you'd expect. I also tried the Baja fish tacos, which were disappointing. The fish wasn't crispy enough and lacked flavor. The tortilla was easily breaking apart. It's like they took the tortilla straight out of the bag because it was cold and didn't look cooked. It came with tortilla chips that were over-fried and borderline burnt, though I wasn't sure if that was intentional. Another reason this ended up being a lower rating for me is the owner's response to feedback. As you can see in other reviews, Tommy tends to get very defensive when customers leave criticism, which I found pretty unprofessional. After I posted my review, he actually messaged me directly (see screenshot), which was honestly off-putting. Yelp is meant to be a space for customers to share their honest experiences, whether positive or negative, and responding in that way doesn't reflect well on the business. I also live in San Francisco, where there's no shortage of authentic and high-quality Mexican food, so I stand by my opinion. Being told my palate isn't "on point" felt dismissive rather than constructive. If anything, I'd just caution others that if you leave feedback here, be prepared for a defensive response from ownership, which may impact your overall experience beyond just the food. Overall, I was surprised given the strong reviews. The meal felt pretty bland across the board, and unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. Also the owner's attitude doesn't deserve any business. After the owners negative and defensive responses, I know I won't come back.
