We absolutely love them! The service here is always great and their food is consistently excellent. Keep in mind that they open at 4pm. The ambiance is welcoming and warm. Lately, we've enjoyed watching the World Cup there while eating. The basics are always awesome: their chips and salsa, their guacamole their tea it's all great. Rice and Beans too. Very disappointing. I had to leave because the food was making me sick. And the Margarita I TRIED to drink tasted of metal. Others may like this place, but my experience was awful. As my usual Royse City haunts were either packed (Alumni) or not open yet (Alejandros) I opted to try this place. I chose the filet and shrimp from the menu and a Cadillac Margarita. The drink only came frozen, and as it turned out, pre-mixed, and in no way a Cadillac. Looking at the bottles behind the bar, I don't think they even have the Grand Marnier to make one. I had three of four sips of a very metalic drink before abandoning it in favor of water (which I actually didn't dare touch). I was hoping the food, at least, would be good. It wasn't. The three or four large shrimp were fine enough, as were the refried beens, but the small filet I was expecting... wasn't. It was 1/8 inch thick plate sized pounded out mystery meat that was tough and had a spoiled taste. It didn't taste like beef. I gave up after six bites. I offered to pay my tab and leave. To their credit, they discounted the drink, but it wasn't about trying to get a deal. I ended up going to Alejandros once they opened and had a much better meal, proper Cadillac Margarita, and a great conversation with another patron. We found this gem on a Sunday afternoon a couple years ago, at the height of the pandemic. We had originally gone to another restaurant nearby, but the wait was nearly an hour. We ended up walking across the street to Los Pinos and were seated right away. The food and the service were exceptional and we have returned nearly every Sunday afternoon since. We have introduced literally dozens of friends to the restaurant and everyone has enjoyed the experience. The staff are amazing and treat us like family. I highly recommend Los Pinos. read more

We have been here twice in the last couple months. The first time was on a Thursday night after work, the second, cinco de Mayo. Let's just say no Mexican restaurant in Royse City is safe on Cinco de Mayo. On the first occasion there we were able to sit right away ( choose your own table), the young teenage man brings chips and salsa pretty quickly. They take drink order and food order quickly also and not much of a waiting time for food and it comes out hot. The place was cozy and clean, other than some teenage hot shot red necks that were clearly trying to one up each other by being the biggest douche. But the waitress handled them well which speaks volumes to the staffs professionalism. The second occasion was much different. We waited for a seat for somewhere around 30/45 minutes. The first available seat was right by the door and at this point we just took it. It was packed, when I said picked I mean PACKED! Tables were full of families of 6 or more usually; we waited for about 10 minutes for them to bring chips and salsa which they were really busy so it was expected and we weren't upset. Within 10 minutes of that we had our order in and the young man whom brings the chips and salsa was busting his tail cleaning up tables for others to sit. ( we had talked with the waitresses last time and they were desperately needing help and it was clear they hadn't found any yet). Our found came out so quickly I was shocked and on hot plates at that. We were apologized to often, which I honestly felt bad about because we weren't mad at all and totally understanding that it was a crazy busy night. We ended up eating and leaving within about 45 minutes of getting our food. It went pretty smoothly and slowed down right around 7:45 at night. They have wonderful staff and I enjoy going each time. My wife and both LOVE Mexican food. We live in Fate, Tx so we go to Royce City often to eat. We have driven by this place numerous time and so we decided to finally give them a try. This place is horrible! I am not sure they have ever heard of spices or hot sauce. The sauce that came with the chips was HORRIBLE. Ketchup was spicier than what they offered. I asked if they had something hotter and the lazy waitress said no. I mean what Mexican restaurant has only ONE salsa?? The waitress was lazy and acted put out when we asked her questions, even though we were her only table. Worst waitress we have had in a very long time. FOOD, well it sucked. My wife ordered fajitas and they covered the fact that there was barely any fajita meat by making her plate 90% grilled onions and bell peppers. You know you screwed up when the "cooks" send out a plate in which the meat is covered by so much onions and bell peppers, and barely see any meat. I ordered the carne asada, and geez, it was again short on meat and all about the onions. Don't order the Mexican coctail shrimp, it's only going to make you mad. Again, 0 spice, very watery cocktail sauce, and when I asked our lame waitress for some salsa to chopped jalapenos so to make the cocktail eatable, she brought me a saucer plate with Jalapeno slices the size of sliced pickles, to which I had to chop them up smaller. She saw me doing this and 0 F's were given. When we received our check, she had the nerve to charge us $1 for the jalepeno which she couldn't even properly cut up for us. One of the worst experiences we have had. We will never go there again and think that one would be better served to spend their hard-earned dollar at a place that actually shows their dedication to their customers by making better food and offering better service. First and for most the prices are ridiculous and the food is less the mediocre paid 9.00 for a beer and the lowest price on the food was 13.35. My husband ordered a margarita (they pride them selves on these) it was small and what ever they put it in gave me a major allergic reaction I have never had that happen before and I get one every time we are out to eat. I love this place. The staff doesn't have a big turnover, so you get to know the waitresses. The food is great. Really, really good guacamole and queso. My favorite is Camarones Veracruz, which is shrimp in a tomato/poblano pepper (not hot, just the great pepper taste), rice and salad. Took my wife here for dinner. She is disabled and after we ordered we discovered that the restrooms are not accessible for a wheelchair. It will not even fit through the door. I attempted to speak to a member of management and they never would come out and talk. They do not care about people or customer service. I'm giving this a 3-star rating because the food was pretty decent overall and they had a wide variety of menu items to choose from. I agree with another reviewer, "it's no Gloria's", but it's OK. I went on a Tuesday night and the place was pretty busy considering the location in downtown Royce City. Be forewarned though, this is a family atmosphere restaurant and there are LOTS of little kids that run around screaming unsupervised, on top of that, the music is kinda loud so if you're on a date and trying to have a conversation with your partner - good luck! But if you want to get by pretty economically, this is the place. The chips were just OK - again, no comparison to Gloria's or El Fenix for that matter. We're new to the area and wanted to try the restaurants. This one caught our eye as we drove through town so we decided to check it out. The scenery seemed like what you'd expect, but it was the loudest place you've ever been in your life and looked on fire due to all the smoke in the dining area from the grill. Being hungry we (2 people) sat anyway. We were greeted shortly thereafter and had drink orders taken. After that it was radio silence for about 15 minutes. Our server walked by probably 10 times and wouldn't make eye contact with us or stop to tell us anything about food orders or let us know she was busy, but (our second mistake) we still sat and waited. Later a different server came and took our food orders which seemed normal enough, but unfortunately it was the last time we would ever hear from ANYONE working there. Over the next hour, 6 additional tables came in, were sat, ordered, received and finished their food (all from the server who took our order) while we still sat waiting for any update (or hopefully for food.) Went here a couple of days ago. We started with the chips and salsa and then ordered queso. At first the salsa was AMAZING, then we got to a part that was just extremely salty. The queso was bland. I had beef enchiladas they were okay, my husband had beef fajitas. There wasn't enough beef in his opinion. The most redeeming thing about this restaurant was the waitress. SHADY PLACE!! BEWARE!!! Los Pinos (a texmex restaurant) in Royse City has broken our heart and we will never step foot through those doors again. On top of getting everyone's order wrong and the waitress apologetically taking it back to be corrected, then the cook doing it wrong a second time, and the waitress having to yell at the cook staff to AGAIN cook it, then it still comes out wrong, but at least at that point we have some food in front of us so we don't say anything........They were purposefully overcharging the tax! Yes, stealing tiny bits of money and hoping no one did the math to realize it. How do we know this? Well, we can do math, but also the waitress told us, "that's how they get you; check it" because she didn't want us to think she calculated it wrong. Probably thinking her tip was being jeopardized. Decided to try out this place because I was craving some Tex-Mex, and unfortunately sad to inform that the Service is absolutely horrible at this place. I asked the waitress if we could have our queso extra hot as in temperature and she immediately replied stating that "the temperature should be fine the way it comes out." She then brings out the cold queso, as I could've predicted and then proceeded to tell us "she'll throw it in the microwave", and came out with the bowl completely overflowed and dirty and she said "this is what happens in the microwave". We then waited 20-30 minutes for her take our order, they never brought my soup that I specifically asked for before my meal, and never refilled our drinks or salsa. The food came out temperature hot, and was "okay". If you can fork out two hours of your night and handle this type of service then this is your place. My wife and I ate dinner there on 10/4/14 along with another couple. When our food got to the table it was cold, my wife's food didn't have what it said was in it, in it. My meal was supposed to have a tamale with it but didn't. We had a coupon by one meal and get 1/2 off of the other but they couldn't figure that out correctly. They couldn't figure the tax correctly and it took over 15 minutes for them to bring our bills, which were incorrect. Oh and the other couple's bill was incorrect and their food was cold also. Staff was great but I ordered$12.00 fajita for one and they failed to put my tortillas in the bag to go. I called them back and they said they would not compensate me for their mistake. Stating that I left the building without the tortillas so I could not get them. They also stated that I left without paying for a margarita that was suppose to be free. Everything online says they have free margaritas and they didn't try to charge me when I paid for my food after I stared at a bag twenty minutes after I paid for the food and had my "free" drink.
