Right down the middle on this one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience was exactly as expected for a Mexican Resteraunt. I did not notice anything diry, as some others have commented on[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My food was not very good. I ordered steak fajitas, TONS of fat, but worse, it was mostly green peppers, nothing appeared pan seared, it was almost like it should have been served over rice as a chineese dish. Not very Fajita-ey at all. My wife's was excellent though, a chicken taco salad. The kicker was the wait. We got there just before noon and there were only like two tables seated yet. After we had ordered the place filled up. And many, many tables seated well after us were served first. It wasnt particularly a long wait, long enough for us to be worried about getting in and out in an hour for lunch, but we also very much noticed everyone getting served well before us. Absolutely delicious! Makes me sad I don't live in the area. This is our 2nd time here while traveling & it did not disappoint. The key to good mexican starts with the chips & salsa. Their salsa is quite possibly the best I've ever had. Portions are large, food was fresh, and everything we had was amazing! I got the dish called "Chicken D". Before i write this review i want to start off by saying i never write reviews. I have over 12 years of experience working in restaurants. Ranging from fast food and high volume restaurants. Cooking and serving. So I get it. I know how it is. I'm very patient and never get upset.. because I get it. We were in the area and told my fiancé I was craving Mexican food. I didn't care where we went I just wanted it. So we decide to stop in here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we walked In The left side of the restaurant was pretty busy. They told us to sit anywhere we wanted and the guy suggested sitting on the right side near the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So we did. He got our drinks and brought us chips. Everything was cool chips and salsa was okay. .... Then he took our order. My fiancé wanted chimichangas. We told him he didn't want ANYTHING on them. I specifically said not even cheese. Like we didn't care if they put both of the chimichangas on one plate and all the sides and queso on another plate. Easy right?.. he said ok I got you I'll make sure it comes out right. Then when he turned to me to take my order I said I wanted the chicken fajita taco salad. He said "do u want everything on the side to". Felt like he was being a smart Alec . I looked at him stone faced and said no . I told him I wanted a side of limes and cilantro. He said "remind me later when ur food comes out". I was like ok??? We waited and waited.. and waited. Food finally comes out. He gives me my salad looks great ! Gives him the plate with the topping on the side and then sits the chimichangas down. The server looks down and them. Felt like he saw the queso and sees it wrong but didn't wanna say anything. Me and my fiancé r just staring at them. Server walks away. I ask my fiancé if he wanted me to say anything to him and he said "no it's ok I'll just eat it" I could tell he was disappointed. He's lactose. I knew if he just ate it he would be cramping and hurting really bad. Like no??? Well I got up to go find my server and he was no where to be found. Like no where. At this point I'm frustrated and feeling bad for my fiancé. I go out side to hit my vape and realign. I came back in and still can't find him. It's been 15 min at this point. I asked another server to send our server our way. I grab some Togo boxes that were stacked up on a table beside us and start boxing up our food and cleaning up our table. When he comes to the table I said " hey these have queso on them remember I said no queso on top?" He apologized and said "I'm so sorry usually when they put everything on the side they still put queso on top automatically" (I could tell he was being genuine) I said " no worries it's all good we have worked in restaurants so we totally get it. You can take those back or whatever you wanna do all is well. We just want two more plain and can we get them in a Togo box please" he leaves our table to go get it fixed for us. I finish boxing our food and stacking all the plates and silverware and whipping the table down. He comes back not even five minutes later and apologizes again. I could tell he felt bad. He threw some chips and salsa on our bag for the trouble. We thank him and went to go pay. At this point everything is okay again. We're cool... the server was sweet and got it fixed quickly. Poor kid. Well when we went to pay the girl at the cash register had a foul ass attitude. Not just with us. I watched her cash out two other people Before us and she was so rude to them too. She honestly doesn't need to work with customer's. I get it ur busy but slap on a fake smile. ITS LITERALLY UR JOB! All you are is a face that can and should be replaced immediately! Ur job isn't that hard. Ur taking money like bruh. I was going to give a 3 star review but the girl taking money topped it off. We're not coming back. If u can deal with food coming out wrong, smirky comments from ur server, attitudes and b**chy looks from a cashier then by all means go for it. I'm very good at hiding my emotions I was polite the whole time. smiled and was very friendly while I was in there. If I ran that restaurant I would immediately fire that girl. No remorse. read more

Everything was delicious. The chips were warm and the salsa had just a little spice to it. The carne asada tacos were great. The meat was nice and tender with plenty of onions and cilantro. And the hot salsa that came with it was enough to put a little sweat on your brow. Service was fast and friendly. Would highly recommend it! read more

If you want very good Mexican family style food, then this is the place. Whenever we're visiting family in Benton, this is one of our favorite places. The food is delicious and big portions. The salsa is good and the food is delicious. However, I had to sit with an empty drink for too long. I had to ask for the waitress, because she wasn't around. After a 2 hour drive and a 2 hour white water rafting adventure, my friends and I set out to find a place to eat. Los Poblanos is 3 minutes from High Country (They do white rafting, camping, caving, etc) and since we had a craving for Mexican food we decided to give the place a shot. They have a Aztec themed/family own vibe. Servers clearly were not comfortable with english, but they knew enough to get the orders down. The first thing I noticed is that the menu was longgg. It took a good while to skim through the whole thing but I think majority of the menu is the same thing in different quantity or combos. I ordered the Chimichanga grande, and my friend ordered a steak dish. While we waited for our food, they gave us chips and salsa to munch on which was much needed because everyone was famished. Overall, the whole experience was...mediocre. Our server was very sweet, but not on top of things when it came to service. We had to get our own menus from another table. The food was very simple with no toppings like sour cream and guac. and I definitely had better Mexican food, but then again the price was really cheap so can't really complain. 3 stars for the food + 1 star for being smart enough to build one of the only Mexican restaurants in this entire county. The food is solid -- I didn't really have anything that blew me out of the water, but it was all tasty. I particularly liked their crispy tacos with chicken, which had thick strands of shredded white cheese all over them, and their chimichanga was really good. Everything is priced reasonably (cheap), as we've all come to expect our Mexican food to be, and the location is nice. Service is decent, though we couldn't quite figure out who was actually our server... this wasn't too bad until we had sat there for more than five minutes after all of our dishes were cleared waiting for the check, only to find out that we were just supposed to walk up to the cashier and get it ourselves (or at least that's what we eventually had to do). Very odd. The short of it is that I recommend Los Poblanos -- basically, I'll recommend supporting any restaurant in this county that isn't a fast food chain read more

My wife and I decided to try Los Poblanos Mexican Restaurant this evening. While we have eaten in several Mexican Restaurants in the Southeast TN area during the past few years, this was our first visit to Los Poblanos. The food was delicious. I like the fact that you can create your own meal. They have a Combination Dinner where you can select two of several meat entrees. The meal comes with rice & beans. The entree choices are Chimichanga, Enchilada, Taco, Burrito, Fajitas - just to name a few. The only complaint that I had was that the beans were a little runny, but the rest of the meal made up for that. The chips that they serve as a appetizer were a little too thick for my taste, but they were not tough like many thick chips are. The salsa and cheese dip had just enough kick to taste good, but not so much that it was too hot. All in all this is a very welcome change of pace from the copycat Mexican Restaurants in the area. read more

The only thing that came out right were the margaritas. However, they were all sour mix. First, we ordered queso with jalapeños. We received jalapeño poppers. My husband ordered a burrito and enchilada combo and asked for a cheese enchilada. It came out beef. It was supposed to have a side of rice, but didn't. A few minutes after my husband's food arrived, I was told they were out of my entrée. At that point nothing was right so I just ordered a side of rice and beans. The beans were the consistency of soup. Additionally, several people who came in after us and ordered after us all received their food before us. I guess if this is your only option in the area, you might think it's good. I have NO idea why this place has such high ratings. read more

I'm upset that they didn't give my husband extra chicken and steak like we asked them to, to take the place of the shrimp and pork sausage that he doesn't eat in that meal that is 14.00 in a black bowl. And no discount was given. I ordered 2 Fried chimichangas which I used to get beans and rice with but now I'm only allowed one choice. And we got only a dab of sour cream and about a tablespoon of guacamole so they can charge you extra for in order to have enough for both chimichangas. I got mostly lettuce. We ordered 3 tacos to go. I wanted a hard taco and my husband wanted soft. So we got 2 soft and 1 hard. You don't get any sauces for the tacos at all and charged us for asking them to put some tomato and onion on them. And because we got them mixed they charged 7.00 for them when I thought they were 5.00 for 3 tacos. I was pretty upset at all the additional charges and that they don't come back to the table so that you have to holler for the service and because they don't understand English, you have to ask over and over for what you need. And they don't add up your bill till you get up front and they whammy you with a very large bill. I was upset but he charged us 2.05 each for the two soft tacos and 1.99 for the hard taco which is 10 cents more than getting 3 soft tacos. They took off the charge for the little bitty bowl they hardly put any in it and call it extra sour cream and guacamole. What a game! So at least the guy took the bill from almost 39.00 to almost 33.00 though we had to speak up and get upset. I still thought that was too much for what we got but maybe at our old ages we aren't used to this shyster kind of way. This isn't the first time we have been overcharged at this place and given way less food. If it says sour cream and guacamole then you should get enough for your meal. And as far as I ever knew, a taco is meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream and salsa at a restaurant. My sister used to special order hers plain with cheese and meat but now it's what a restaurant calls a taco, with nothing in it, like my sister liked it as a little girl. The man at the register was at least kind but they talked in a foreign language so we didn't know what they were saying which was very rude. It is very loud and echoes in there. The seats are hard. It's very casual and seems on the dirty side. So if you are looking for a nicer place to eat, this isn't the place. I didn't use the woman's bathroom but my husband says the men's bathroom is ok. Some places should be closed down for having dirty bathrooms. read more

Be careful when checking out that you don't enter the wrong total and tip the entire bill amount...seems this is a large issue lately that we hadn't encountered on prior visits.
