    torta cubana
    Sydney C.

i would like to say, first and foremost, the entire experience wasn't bad. it just wasn't *great* either. i ordered the torta cubana w/o mayo and subbed the fries for the chille toreados. we also got the chori queso. the chori queso was ok, it quite honestly lacked some flavor. my torta lacked flavor as well. the sandwich as you can see in the photos was huge and it looked amazing. but taking a bite, it left me feeling lackluster and was just bland, making me disappointed. i only ate one half of the sandwich and sent the rest off with my friend. the food was outshined by our waitress and the manager. they had a ton of to go orders so we waited quite a while, maybe 25-30 min, for our food to be brought to us. the waitress, when she brought us our receipts, told us the manager discounted us since the wait had been so long. it was very appreciated and a shining example of how great the people who work here are. the place was decorated well and had a nice atmosphere. it was a nice experience though.

Chips good, service good, food food, it's all good! A great addition to Cleveland and a very present experience.

We have been watching this little gem come about and are so happy to finally get to try their food now that they are open. Service is friendly and attentive but sometimes a bit forgetful and unorganized. However, the positive and cheerful attitude of the service staff fills that gap. On top of everything is the well done renovation of the building. The restaurant has such a lovely interior that makes the experience even more comforting and relaxing. Can't wait to return and try more of their fare.

It was a little chilly, but not quite "Ohio" chilly so we sat ourselves outside with a couple of hazy IPA aka Juice Bombs from Sloop Brewery. This brew pub is sandwiched between brick buildings: Stacks, a burger pub, on the right and another commercial building on the left. Across the street is the Police, so be warned, and don't get too funky. We asked if they had food and said no but it was ok to get some take out and eat it at their table or order from Stacks (what we did) and they bring it to your table from next door. Even better. Stacks' mushroom burger and stack cheese burger were very good too. We washed those down with another set of local IPAs called Southeast by Tailgate Brewery in Nashville, TN, also very good. Some of the tables have heating lamps which would have been nice as it got chillier. Not ours. But no sweat. This place does occasionally make their own beer as well but it's primarily a brew pub which sells other beer and canned beer from all over. I'm glad we had a chance to come. Now for the drive home. Thankfully we are less than 2 hours away. Atlanta here we come!

There's plenty of parking nearby so you don't have to walk far. This neat beer bar reminds me of the crowler shops that you used to find around Atlanta, with around 30 taps containing about a thrid local beer, so you can sample several local breweries without visiting each one (they're mostly not too near each other so this is very convenient). The taproom "beertender" seemed to be fairly knowledgeable regarding the various offerings - there's also a convenient list highlighting the different beers with style notes. We sat at the bar and were able to bring in some food from the nearby restaurants (I grabbed some wings at the nearby Marthie Ann's which were excellent). To drink I tried Hoptown's own Orange Mango Wheat - a somewhat basic wheat beer with hings of sweet tangerine and mango - nothing special. I had a Maine Brewing "Lunch" with the wings which is always a winner - it's an exceptional New England IPA. Service was great - I can see myself hitting Ooltewah just to come by for a break in driving.

There are some street parking spots (didn't get a photo of them), but still, be aware. Regarding the bathroom, it's a single bathroom that's a bit cramped and I'd say about what you'd expect from a bathroom you'd see in like a Walmart. Also, bathrooms are for customers only. But everything in the bathroom worked and it had paper towels. This is a restaurant where you seat yourself, so I sat at the bar. You also pay at the front when you're done. I ordered the Pizza Birria, which took about 7 minutes and 55 seconds to arrive (honestly, I expected it to take longer, but was pleasantly surprised with the speed of delivery). I had never had any kind of birria before, so this was a new messy experience for me. The pizza slices themselves were a bit unstable in the hand (I kept worrying the contents would spill out), but I found that if you flip the slices upside down, they were more stable. Without the consommé, the pizza was good. With the consommé, it was different. Since this was my first time eating any birria, I can't speak as to whether or not the consommé was off or anything, but I think birria is something I'd have to let grow on me. I still finished off the pizza (I had a very busy day and hadn't eaten anything, so I was hung), and yes I did continue to eat the consommé, and I do think I kind of started warming up to it. And yes, I was very stuffed after eating the pizza. I'll come back to try some of their other offerings some other time. Last thing I'll say is that the staff were all friendly, and thank you to Melissa for attending me.
