My favorite restaurant of all time. ever. period. The salsa is so addictive and the cheese dip is out of this world. When my family visits me in Texas they always bring down a cooler for me full of salsa and dip. Mainly I love the salsa and covering the #1 w/rice with salsa so that more salsa gets into my belly as fast as possible. Other stuff is good and food isn't anything special but I always get the same thing so I can't comment on most of it. Service is always A++. read more

My wife Sandi and I stayed for one week in near Murray Kentucky we were looking for some nice place to eat we tried several restaurants and my wife suggested to go to Los portales in Murray Ky in the beginning I was a little hesitant about going there finally we decided to go Right before we entered the restaurant the building looked very inviting and beautiful on the outside but there was more to see once we enter The building it was very tasteful decorated The server Isidro was very Corteus and helpful to choose a good dish sense was our first time there. My wife enjoyed a mango margarita our servers suggested two dishes "molcajete and a chicken in a white Cream sauce" very similar to Alfredo sauce with the Mexican taste very tasteful both dishes I Recommend both dishes I am a good eater but I could not finish my all that food and we took the leftovers home we had dinner again the next day. Ate here while visiting our daughter in Murray. The restaurant is clean and well staffed with quick and courteous service. Our waiter Jesus was great. They have a large menu with average prices. My husband ask the waiter what he recommended and he said the pollo loco so my husband ordered that and it was very good. My daughter and I both had the fajita bowl which was also great. My husband did not care for the salsa there, but I didn't see anything wrong with it. We ask about the guacamole and the waiter said it has onions (my husband doesn't like raw onions) but he made us some without onions. It was chunky and fabulous, I wish we had taken a picture to share but we devoured it to quickly for that. We went around 6 on a Saturday night and it was busy but we were seated immediately and served quickly. I would highly recommend this place. read more

After a rough day at work I went to get tacos and a Pina Colada. I was seated and waited a good ten minutes before my server came to take my order. But I blew it off, so I proceed in ordering a Pina Colada and two street tacos. The Pina Colada was barely blended and had many large pieces of ice in the drink and the street tacos I order were made with a different recipe. The server did not come to check on me till I was finished with my meal, this was about 30 minutes. Once the server comes to my table I tell him I was not happy with my service and he began to be very confrontational. I asked if I could talk to his manager and he first says He dosen't know if his manager is there and then says he's manager was not there. So I go to check out and the person to check me out is the manager. So I begin to proceed that I was not happy with my service and he becomes hostile and confrontational. Telling me I am disrespectful and rude. I then ask can you please listen to want I want to say. He then mocks me for what I was upset about. Then he sees my work name tag I forgot to take off and says we give worse service and threatens to call my boss. I tell him I am willing to pay my bill and he just starts to threaten and belittle me. Then a party comes behind me to also check out and becomes more frustrated with me and tells me to leave but I did not catch what he said so he yells at me to get out and leave. This was the worst experience and I have to say I am never coming back. This behavior saddens me since I use to love going here with my friends. read more

My wife, Becky, and I love Los Portales. The staff is excellent, the food is fabulous, and the building is exquisite! We have tried most items on the menu and are always completely satisfied with the taste, portions, and price of the food. They also offer many types of beverages, including beers, and the margaritas are wonderful. Try a top shelf variety! read more

I love Los Portales. The ambience is nice and seems authentic. The service is good and fast. The food is delicious. I usually get the beef fajitas, which is huge enough to have a second meal or share with someone else. Highly recommend. read more

By far my favorite place in Murray to eat. The ingredients are fresh, the staff is courteous. I was getting a to-go recently during lunch on a Friday. When I was rung up my card would not work and I had no cash on me. In a very kind gesture they encouraged me to take the food anyway because they did not want me to miss lunch. I was able to come back on the following Monday after being out of town to pay my tab. How many other restaurants actually care about their customers in this way?! read more

There was nothing really special about this place. I got chicken and steak fajitas and the meat was pretty tough. What really made me not like this place was when I walked in the door the hostess just stared down at her nails digging out the gunk that was underneath them. I literally stood there waiting for her to look up as she cleaned out her nails for about a minute until I said excuse me can I order some food. For being someone that works the front of the house, she seemed really confused about everything that I was asking for. Simple things like cheese, or do you have black beans? Then another coworker came up and they were talking back-and-forth and I felt like they were just talking about me the whole time. We stopped here on a very busy Friday night, were seated immediately, and had our drinks within minutes. We ordered Carne Asada Tortillas (with maize tortillas, chicken, and a side of extra cilantro) and shrimp chimichanga. The quality was excellent, the portions large, and the salsa fresh. I have to disagree with most of the others. I've been to Los Portales three times and was unimpressed each time. The 'salsa' seems to be tomatoes and some spices blended smooth, with no texture and not a whole lot of taste. The ground beef in the tacos/burritos/enchiladas seems to be just beef, without seasoning. Worst, the cheese has a distinct Velveeta-like texture, not like a good Jack cheese or similar. The chile relleno was okay but nothing to write home about. I prefer either La Cocina (in nearby Hazel, but no alcohol) or El Mariachi Loco (which has a full bar). read more
