The place is about a mile from where we are staying on highway 98 Upon entering the establishment you can see that they have spent money bringing a lot of mexican paraphernalia to make it look very festive and welcoming. TVs all around playing different channels, from news to sports and everything in between but not really a sports bar because they won't play PPV. Happy place and well managed because we weee seated right away. We were one of the first guests and people kept coming Service was efficient and courteous and as far as doing the job quickly our server went above and beyond Salsa was very mild and mostly tomatoes, maybe from a number 10 can not even doctored up but just ok for the good chips if you have worked up an appetite before getting here like I did today The Carnitas came in a large very heavy plate that made it look like there was a lot of food but it was only appearance because the portion was about the same as other mexican restaurants, flavor was good because they had been roasted with onions but the chunks of meat were smaller than other places I have been. Can't say much about the beans, if you didn't know the beans come in a number 10 can and all mexican restaurants serve the same, none make it from scratch, rice was lukewarm. All in all it was a good experience but not good enough to make us come back in the next two weeks before we go back home, might give it another shot next year but will pay cash because 3.99 % for cc is a bit excessive read more

first time coming to this location and our experience was great! it wasn't too busy on a saturday late afternoon. there was a soccer game going on and the workers were mainly watching that so it took a minute to get a table. once we got seated, we immediately got chips and salsa which was great. for entrees we got arroz con pollo and i got steak. the steak was cooked well when i asked for medium but it was still very juicy. rice was okay and the beans were good too. our service was good but not great. again, there was a soccer game going on and everyone was interested in that. i'd still come back in the future to try other items on the menu. read more

Once upon a Time, there was a restaurant called los rancheros, and it was a very small Mexican restaurant. The amount they have grown since I have last been there is absolutely phenomenal. They now have a new private building all to themselves and the food phenomenal. Everything is straight up. Amazing about this place. Highly recommend everything. if I could, I would rate this place 10 stars because I just love it so much. And the mints that they give to you on the way out, don't even get me started on those Keylime mints. They are so good! I love the Mexican vibe all around the restaurant and I ran into one of my favorite servers who still surprisingly works there after six years of my family not going there. To leave on a positive note, highly recommend this place my go to order are three tacos and one quesadilla. Once again, outstanding restaurant. read more

We have been here several times and always have a good experience at the new location. Both the food and service is great!

The atmosphere was fun and the queso and chips were great! We just stopped in for a quick snack and ordered The nachos locos. We were very underwhelmed and noticed that the fillings were mostly corn and black beans that were straight from a can. This ain't the best Mexican restaurant to go to. I should I know, I've been to various places at home and here during my trip. Now, this place doesn't have anything special about the food at all. Finally, I'd like to round off with the overall aesthetic and design of the ambience. I will say it does have a sort of abstract feel but that where the appraisal ends. The floor had some kind of sticky feeling while walking around, as if there was constant beverage spills that wasn't cleaned up in a while. Overall, I don't recommend this at all to anybody. I don't really see why this place should even exist if it has this much blandness to the food. The fact that this was the final choice when my family was deciding what to eat is beyond me... Check your bill. They will add things on your bill without telling you. The server we had was not very friendly, and she did not correct our bill after pointing out an add on. I would not dine here again after them attempting to sneak charges on. Also, the food is mediocre for the cost anyways. Go elsewhere. We're locals to Freeport, but haven't been to the SRB location until tonight. The restaurant is beautifully done. The vibe is on point. The service was decent, and prices are OK. What we weren't ok with was the 4% credit card fee on the receipt. Covering credit card fees shouldn't be the customers problem. Also, I didn't see that listed anywhere on the menu. I walked out. They have chile rellenos. They have shrimp. But they won't add shrimp to a chile relleno.

I wanted 3 enchiladas with cheese sauce. They have a platter deal with the 3 enchiladas I wanted for $16.99. I ordered the enchiladas without the rice and beans. It cost me $24 for just the enchiladas and a root beer. Terrible customer service wouldn't help me out when I asked about it and said that I didn't save them money. Bs. read more

Another "CHECK YOU BILL" restaurant in SRB. I guess stealing/dishonest billing is how they're gonna pay for the new location. Not only was the service slow and unenthusiastic, but our guy was downright dishonest. I've learned to point on to the menu when ordering, because if you don't restaurants will do their best to upcharge you. This does not work at Los Rancheros. I pointed directly to the $5.50 beers, but the young man still charged us $7.00. There were also additional "upcharges" on the food. When I brought it to his attention, he just wanted to argue. OK kid, "No tip for you". The best part was when I approached the manager. He argued as well, and then began to laugh at me. I asked him "what was funny about 'overcharging'" but he continued to laugh. I began to walk away to leave the restaurant, but he continued to follow me out the door in order to continue arguing. He was so confrontational, that I had to tell him to "get out of my face". Wow, just wow! Mr. Owner, I'd seriously consider firing him. Sunday afternoon (9/15/24) More on the manager: as I was reflecting on our very unpleasant experience, I remembered another incident involving the manager. However, I didn't think much of it until now: upon arriving, we were not greeted by the man standing behind the hostess stand. My wife was standing next to it when the man abrubtly, almost aggressively came from behind the counter and moved her over with his hand. I remember thinking, "that was a little rude" but did/said nothing. In retrospect, it was the manager. This guy needs to go! Please know that this is not a money, but a principle issue.
