It's nicely decorated, well maintained and surprisingly really spacious inside, so could easily be a place that can accommodate larger parties. Their food is also very well priced. Brenda L was the server who took my order. Per their suggestion I ordered the birria tacos which came with rice, beans, toppings and then a side of chips and salsa. The tacos were okay. I think coming from Texas I'm just used to food being more seasoned, but the meat was tender and the portions were generous. Now usually at a taco joint either the green or red salsa will be on the milder, less spicy side but here ?? If you like heat then you're in for a treat because oh my lord LOL. I had the steak and pastor street tacos. Both were good, but I thought the pastor was better. My wife's chicken tacos were good, but her beans and rice were not hot. The biggest downside of the visit were the restrooms. The smell in the men's room was atrocious. It literally almost made me vomit. I was told that the women's restroom was the same. The smell could be from the sign in the bathroom, which said to put toilet paper and paper towels in the trash, not the toilet. I hoped this was a joke, but it sure did not smell that way. read more

Back again for the third time. Cannot say enough about how fantastic this food is. Just levels above everything else. Today we ordered the street tacos and the chimichanga. I had the tacos last time and so my husband wanted them today cause he was so jealous when I had them. I encouraged him to order a couple extra. He was perplexed by the cucumber on the plate, but as he began including it in his tacos, was just impressed by how well it went together. I had the ground beef chimichanga. It was the best chimichanga I've ever had!! It's huge! With a delicious white queso on top. Cheese inside, the tortilla is perfectly fried. Rice is good. Beans were heavenly. I don't know what magic they use in that kitchen, but there was a moment between bites of the beans and chimichanga that were just blissful. Hubby was happy he had a couple more tacos once he polished off the four that come with the order, but he was jealous once again of my plate. So now we have to go back again so he can get the chimichanga and I can try something else he'll want too. The salsa was fresh and flavorful and a little bit spicier than I remember but it's so good. The chips aren't my favorite chip, but that's ok. the chips could be stale and it wouldn't matter to me. The rest of the food is phenomenal!! Service is great, they're so nice! The place is so cool. We were driving past Texarkana and looking for a good place to stop by. We decided to go to Los Ruvalcaba because of all the great reviews, and we are so glad we did! It's a little hole in a wall restaurant, but the food here is excellent. The complimentary chips and salsa were solid. The tortilla chips were light, crispy, and fresh. The salsa was so good, and it had just enough spice. Our server recommended that I ordered the Ruvalcaba Fajitas with Steak, Shrimp, and Chicken. Yum! It was delicious. The meat was juicy, it was well seasoned, and I loved the chard taste from the skillet. My friends ordered the Tilapia Fish and Shrimp Enchiladas, and they loved it too. This is an extremely concerning experience. I look online and see a lot of good reviews. I checked the prices and they seemed reasonable so I decided to check them out. After seeing 5 street tacos for $7.99. I go in and they tell me it's $10.99 for 5 tacos. I went ahead and paid for it but thought something was up. While waiting on my food I go through the entire process online and the price actually is $7.99. I attached photos for proof. I'm not sure if this was because I am white and they thought they could take advantage of me or they're doing this to all of their customers. But this is extremely unethical and not good business. They charged me a 37% increase in cost person. When I confronted them They said that is the price if I order online. When that is actually just their menu in general that is posted online. Take what you want from this. But I don't support crappy humans and this was a disrespectful experience. read more

They were out of cactus so then asked if we could get like grilled bell peppers and onions or other vegetables and they were out of bell peppers. They have really good salsa to go with the chips, try the hot. The menu has an incredible amount of variety, and almost too much to choose from, so we asked the waitress for a suggestion. She gave a few different ones, then said "we have really good pineapple pork, al pastor." Those were the magic words, I love al pastor, so I got the enchilada plate with them and queso blanco. It was exceptional -- the pork was really tasty, and so was everything on the plate. My dining companion got the tri-colored enchiladas, she also liked it a lot. The service was on point, with our drinks never going all the way empty. The food was a great value for the price, and everything was delicious. This is a good Mexican food joint! I came for their shrimp cocktail and they did not disappoint! The serving is prettt good. They were generous with the shrimps and were able to cook them tender. The cocktail sauce was also seasoned well and had the right tangy-sweet combination! I tried their bistek street taco. Again, good amount of protein, with a warm corn tortilla makes my heart happy. I stopped at Los Ruvalcaba while driving from Indiana to Texas. It's a short detour off the highway, and well worth it! We were served complimentary chips and really good salsa; the waitress offered us a refill of chips/salsa, too, which I happily took. Most of the food is for meat-eaters, but there are a couple of vegetarian options on the menu (where you can add meat for an extra charge): enchiladas mexican, which are filled with nopales (cactus) and are quite spicy, and enchiladas potosinas, which were basically deep fried empanadas filled with super tasty cheese. Oh. My. Goodness. These were one of the tastiest things I've tried! I could eat these every day. Prices are decent -- not super low, but not outrageously high, and the portions are generous. I asked the girl working the cash register what I should order and she suggested the Tacos al pastor (with pineapple). The five tacos that I received only cost $7.99, and they might have been the best tacos that I have had. Just simple, perfect flavors. Both members of the staff that I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. If you're in the area just go here and load up on tacos. Don't skip this place! I am a avid review reader but have never stepped up to guide my fellow readers. We are traveling back home to Houston from vacation. We needed to stop for 1 good meal and I'm so glad that we picked Los Ruvalcaba. I love good authentic Mexican food and I am telling you that you will find exactly that here. This family run establishment is a must try! We were greeted and seated right away. It is an older building but it is well kept and clean. I was nervous when the queso came out and saw that it was white and not the normal orange looking velveeta that is served everywhere. My 5 & 7 year old killed a huge bowl of queso. The queso was a perfect starter for my kids but I did ask them to hold the pico for my picky eaters. It was so good that we ordered a second. I knew from the queso that we had stumbled onto something. Then the only problem that you are likely to encounter will happen when you open the whole menu. What will you decide on! I wanted to try it all! The chips and salsa are great. Chips are just right and the salsa has just the right heat. I love al pastor and decided to give them a try in the enchiladas which is named the Ruvalcaba enchiladas. It was delightful. The flavors were spot on. Don't be afraid to put that pico on them. Retried beans were tasty. The rice had a nice taste but a tad bit dry for me personally. But my 7 year old who never eats rice loved it. My little girl had the sopes for the first time and she was a huge fan and so was I. My husband had the tacos el charro. Steak was tender had a great taste just a hint of lime. My 7 year old had the steak tacos on flour and it was full of steak meat. He never complained about a thing. I actually sampled everyone's dishes. We are not generally a dessert family but I felt as though we'd be missing out if we skipped dessert here. So I ordered a round of fried ice cream. We all left very happy and extremely full. Mission accomplished we can make it home and avoid drive thrus. Our entire dining experience was wonderful!
