Three stars may be over writing this restaurant if you drink at least two margaritas all the food is very good. If you order food for pick up to take out I have never had a complete order yet or have I got what I paid for I order peppers stuffed with fajita meat and get ground burger I order extra guacamole and they give me beans I can go on and on, and while I keep going back I do not know it's convenient it's close and my wife doesn't like to cook no no??? I keep trying and one day I pray they will make the order correct and not give me something to make up for their shortcomings of the last order but I'm going to try one more time today. This place was amazing! When we got here, they were very accommodating with seating us quick and in as quiet a corner as possible. We were immediately served chips and salsa and when we ordered queso as an appetizer it came out super quick. Our waiter Luis was absolutely amazing, was very kind and made sure to take great care of us. Our food came out very quick and tasted absolutely amazing. I believe one of the owners/managers came out to check on us as well. 10/10 would recommend this place, it is now my family's new favorite Mexican spot! read more

we ordered grilled red fish; scale on; I don't understand. the fish scale is huge and everywhere. we end up with a mouthful of scales; maybe this is how it is how it supposed to be cooked; but definitely horrible. my husband thinks this is the worst food he has ever had. i ordered cevichi, not good either. the one at Union Kitchen is soooo much better. here, a stack of food with no flavor. Took my children for lunch and we weren't greeted for 15+ minutes. We placed our order as soon as we were greeted along with ordering an appetizer. The appetizer came out along with my children's food (which is fine although we would have preferred getting the appetizer first) but it was my salad that took an extra 25 minutes. Well, after 25 minutes, as my children were finished eating and my salad still wasn't out I was able to flag a server down and just asked for it to be boxed up and take it to go. The salad came with onions even though I requested 2x they be be removed and the extra protein I ordered with my salad was minuscule. This has been my a second disappointing visit here otherwise I wouldn't be writing this review. However, the ambiance is nice and the food is usually very quality. read more

Have been a customer for 30 plus years at Los Tios and have seen many changes in that time. Many managers have come and gone but I would like to say something special about the manager at the Sugarland location. Miguel Tum has an eye out for his customers. I watched last night how he made arriving customers comfortable and informed about their wait, plus getting them seated where they wished to be seated. On top of that because of the busy hour there he let us know where things stood with our orders. Very nice and professional of him. Hope higher up management doesn't overlook his service. read more

Good Mexican food near my house....can't beat that! Los Tios is Tex-Mex that will satisfy your hunger and any Mexican food cravings you may have. I dined with a friend and we were seated pretty wuickly, even with it being pretty busy. The service was great! We didn't wait long for our drink order to be placed nor to received chips and salsa and order our food. My only complaint is how small and intimate the restaurant is. There is t much of a waiting area so it can get cramped pretty fast. We were seated at a partial booth where there is a bench affixed to the wall, a table then a chair placed in front. The tables were narrow and placed pretty close together so we were seated by different parties. When the waitress would come and check on her table her butt was constantly being placed in my face. I have been going to Los Tios since I was a child in Meyerland and on Westheimer and Gessner. I was super excited to start going to the one on San Felipe. We started going to this location a couple of months ago and we love it. The Atmosphere is great, food fantastic and of course the frozen Margaritas are the best. We had Alejandro for our waiter last time, and he was so attentive and quick with everything we needed. It is hard to find great service these days, and he was a step above the rest. I LOVE Los Tios. Have been going here for years, since I was a baby. I support all of Adair's concepts! But this new location has sparked joy in me. It's so cute and fun. We came for happy hour, highly recommend! We sat specifically at the bar. I love bar service the best and knew this would be no exception! I've heard bad reviews from this place, and if you have doubts; I suggest first coming during happy hour at the front or back bar. Alexis was so attentive to us and even tho she heard my friends order wrong she corrected it within minutes! Never been in a Mexican restaurant where I had to go ask the waiter for chips & salsa. And, the restaurant is not busy! I have been waiting for this place to open. My office window literally looks into their front windows. Today I saw a staff meeting taking place & once they dispersed I grabbed my phone & credit card, hoofing it over there with my fingers crossed....and yes! They were open (official opening on Monday the 26th). The place is gorgeous & I love the bar area in the dining room (there's another bar facing the front door) with the low counter & 60s vibe chairs. I was sat in a booth & given the menu. Ronald (the most awesome waiter in the world) greeted me & took my drink order. As I looked at the menu, I was taken back in time to the "old school" type of Tex-Mex. With puffy tacos & queso dancing through my head my eyes stopped on the Laredo Dinner combo which consisted of a cheese enchilada, tamale, beans of your choice, rice, puffy taco, puffy queso & guacamole. The meal was served "OS" also with the cold plate coming out first & followed shortly with a very piping hot plate. I dug into the queso puff first, I just love cracking that thing open. The manager stopped by the table & when I mentioned how awesome the taco was he said that there is a dedicated person in the kitchen that hand makes the puffy taco shell! They were sent to their other stores to learn the technique so that a "Lucy & Ethel" moment won't happen in the productions of the lightest, airiest taco shells on this planet. So, I guess you can tell that I really enjoyed my experience. The employees were super friendly & several came to the table to see how I was doing. Of course, Ronald made sure I was happy. Definitely going back & definitely asking for Ronald as my server. For a soft opening, this place has its shiz together. I grew up eating at the Los Tios in Meyerland. I finally tried the new flagship location and could not have been more impressed. First - the decor is stunning. The space is open and light with so much attention paid to every detail. From the bar stools to the table arrangement - everything is perfect. There is a large patio with windows as well as the main dining room. Both rooms provide ample space without feeling too vast. The rooms are loud, but that is to be expected in a lively restaurant setting. Second - the food and drinks were impeccable. One of the few Houston Tex Mex restaurants that does not overcharge for food with no sacrifice on quality. Service - the service was a bit lacking, but I will forgive that. My water never got refilled, the chip bowl was not replaced and we had to flag down the waitress to get our check. Overall this place is amazing and I WILL be back! Great job, Los Tios! read more

We've been going to los Tios here in Houston for over 40 years so when I heard that there was going to be a location opening here in the Galleria I was very excited and looked forward to the opening. Well that day finally came and we are trying it out for the first time today. Great room and great ambience but the food is lacking. Although there are new items on the menu, as expected, I wanted to try the old favorites just to see how they would hold up to the other locations. The Nachos Los Tios did not fare so well. The fajita meat was tough and chopped up into little bits and had bone fragments, the cheese was watery and thin and very sparse. The Tacos Los Tios were not bad... Just not the same as at the other locations. Again, when I heard this place was opening I expected there to be some changes to the menu, maybe additional items. And there are. Consistency with core recipes is key though. I hope they have left the recipes at the other locations alone. On the upside, service is outstanding! Very friendly and attentive staff. In all, looking forward to coming back to try something new. read more

Our daughter had her Bridal Shower at Los Tios on San Felipe on Saturday, March 14th just before everything moved to take-out because of the Corona virus. Her hostesses were in charge of the beautiful decorations, but both Augustine and Emily (manager/server...I think) made sure that everything was absolutely perfect! Not only was the food delicious, but the service was impeccable, and the ambiance in the private room made for a wonderfully festive atmosphere...of course the delicious margaritas helped. :) I am so glad that we were able to have the bridal shower at Los Tios on San Felipe, and I sincerely hope that we will be able to have the wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico as planned...even if it has to be delayed. The decor is the best part of this place. First we sat down and we're asked for our drink order before getting any drink menus. 6 people got rocks margaritas and 2 got frozen. The rocks margaritas are the single worst alcoholic drink experience of my life. They tasted like water with a little lime flavoring and weren't even cold. Even the handmade second batch was the same. The frozen margaritas are fine. The queso appears to just be velvetta. When the food finally came my beef and chicken fajitas only had chicken. I was also not given tortillas or any of the fixings. All the fish was chewy and tough. The service was mediocre as well from the uncaring staff. Overall, it's a very overpriced and mediocre experience masked by some pretty decor. read more
