Los Tios Meyerland is a great spot that exudes that Old school Tex Mex elegance of the 70's and 80's. It's a neighborhood staple and has been my family's go to spot when we're in the Meyerland area since 1989! I love the service model of these Tex Mex places, every body always asks if you need something not just the waiter. This go round I had the shrimp enchiladas with charro beans and an Ultimate Margarita. My wife had the #6 Combo with cheese enchiladas, puffy queso, and crispy taco. Shrimp Enchiladas are my usual order and it was great as always. The shrimp were crisp and fresh not rubbery or overcooked and the cream sauce and melted cheese on top was rich and flavorful. The Ultimate Margarita was amazing, not too tequila forward and didn't taste like premade mix. My wife loved the puffy queso and cheese enchiladas, I ate her taco and finished off the rest of her plate too. My final note, visit these old school tex mex places while you can because one day they'll be gone, or worse open a trendy rebrand. I really love the food here! The tacos are always my go to, super flavorful and fresh. Their drinks are always tasty and the service is great. This place is in a shopping center so parking is kind of limited on busy days, but it's worth looking for a spot. On the inside, the restaurant is spacious and the decor is super lively. Who doesn't love chips dip and a good margarita! This Los Tios is one of the OG locations. This location is cozy presenting on the inside and actually has a lot more space than expected. Service is routine as in not bad but not above and beyond. This is definitely a popular location for the locals and they likely get a lot of regulars so no extra pizaz needed. Any who. I ordered fish tacos and my friend ordered enchiladas. Everything was good and I especially love the chips and salsa that is provided. I love a fresh tortilla chip. Our group of 3 came here one Saturday evening and it was a popular place for dinner! Firstly, I love their giant decorated Christmas tree near the front entrance - lovely! We were seated right away and the hostess and waitress were very friendly. Our waitress checked in with us throughout our stay, but not too much (which I always appreciate). After a large lunch, I opted for queso as my meal and some drinks. The reason for my 4 stars is because the queso was lacking in flavor. I have been eating at this restaurant for over 30 years, but would not eat there again. I had lunch at the Meyerland location on March 29, 2026. Within about one and a half hours of eating I became very nauseated, which lasted into the early evening. I felt terrible for the next two days. Based on an analysis of my situation, I believe I was given food that was contaminated by a handler who did not properly wash their hands or the food preparation surface was contaminated. I called the restaurant the next day to report the incident. They did not seem concerned and never called me back as promised. read more

I paid $22.00 for the worst beef enchilada dinner ever. When I got the dinner home I could tell just by looking at it that it was just thrown in a to go container. By far, my favorite Los Tios Meyerland. Much of the staff has been there for as long as I can remember. With the exception of a couple of the hostesses everyone treats you professionally and seems to be happy you're there. The atmosphere is authentic and what you expect to go into a Tex-Mex restaurant. We order 3-4 times per month from Los Tios both in house and delivery. The food is always consistent and delicious, and the service is always friendly and professional. Tonight we added on a couple of margaritas to our delivery order of which were missing when the delivery driver arrived. The driver insisted on verifying my ID, even though they weren't delivering our drinks. The didn't even seem concerned, nor did they offer to go back to the restaurant and redeliver, just insisted they needed my ID and that I should call the restaurant to let them know. Hmmm... I called Los Tios and they were immediately apologetic. Instead of offering me a refund, the front desk manager checked if an employee could deliver our drinks with another manager volunteering to do so. I used to come here as a kid with my mom and grandma, but we quit going after she passed away. 10 years later and we finally made our way back. We weren't sure what to expect as far as quality, but we were absolutely blown away. The food was delicious. We came for lunch and it was pretty busy. The salsa is phenomenal and we enjoyed the iced tea as well. We ordered off the lunch menu - pick two items for $10.95. I ordered a cheese enchilada and a queso puff. Visited here for a large Houston grandmother's reunion. The place is nice and clean. Arrived and told we could have coffee but there wasn't enough to go around. They sat us at our area and took our drink orders that never arrived for a lot of us. The service was very slow and inconsistent. Drinks ordered were not brought out after requesting them again. Had to drink water. Ordered coffee at the table and they said they ran out of cups. WTH? No cups?? Food smelled good but not the best. The flour tortillas looked and smelled amazing. While out and about in Houston today with my fam, my travels brought me in the vicinity of a Los Tios. Nostalgia overcame me, and I was very giddy. Yes, I did say giddy. The wife and kiddos wanted something from another chain restaurant, so after some convincing, I changed their minds. Los Tios has been around Houston for a very long time, and I have very fond memories with my grandparents here as a child. It has been decades since I have stepped foot in one, so I was hoping nothing had changed. The fam and I walked in the lobby. This place is exactly as I remember it. Not a thing has changed. Today the restaurant was not busy, and no one was at the front host stand. I was hoping this was not a bad sign. After peeking around the corner to get someone's attention, a waiter saw me and promptly seated us. We were seated in a booth, and handed menus. Our drink orders were taken, and we perused the menu. Lots of good choices here. While we waited for our drinks we were brought chips, salsa, and tomatillo sauce. One thing that will tell you right away if a Mexican food joint is any good is the chips and salsa. The chips set the tone for me, and if they are terrible, I'm out. I got a chip, dunked it in the salsa, took a bite, and was impressed. They taste just the same as they did last time I went! In good time, our drinks arrived and our order was taken. The wife opted for the chicken street tacos and I opted for combo #3. A puffy queso, a cheese enchilada, guacamole salad, and a side of rice and beans. The kiddos got a grilled cheese, and puffy queso. After some trips down memory lane with my kiddos, our food arrived in good time. Nice and hot and presented very well. All of us starved, we jumped right in. The kiddos loved their food (and my youngest says their grilled cheese was the best) and mine was delicious. I really enjoyed my puffy queso and was glad to see it was puffy, and not just a taco salad chip turned over with queso on it. My enchilada was great, and regretted not getting two. The guacamole was a bit too tangy and had too much lime in it. Still, not bad though. I cleaned my plate. The wife was not too impressed with the chicken street tacos and said they lacked flavor. She said they were bland and she wished she ordered something else. Overall, we all were happy and satisfied. My dish was excellent and I left very happy. So I stopped in yesterday for the first time a few minutes after the lunch special was over. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and I received my meal just under 10mins. Everything was delicious. Presentation was great. Service was even better. The food was hot right down to the last bite. Packed with plenty of flavor and didn't taste salty at all. The food (verde enchiladas) is AMAZING! The margaritas are AMAZING! They have however become WAYYYY too popular and trendy and can not properly manage a wait list. We have visited several times recently - probably three times within the last month, each time on a Friday night at approximately 5-530pm and have been told it would be "20 minutes" which turned out to be 40-50 minutes EVERY time. They have great food, great service, great ambiance (maybe could fix the lighting in the back), but I am done with this place until it becomes less trendy. I don't know when it became cool to eat dinner at 5pm. I'm a curmudgeon, and proud. UPDATE FOR MANAGER RESPONSE : I DID call prior to going, and was told no wait. Los Tios is my boyfriend and I's go to place for good Mexican food. To me the portions are perfect and I like that they offer combos without rice and beans for around $11-12 dollars. I love Los Tios and usually go to the one on Westheimer. It's quick service, tastes like true Tex-Mex, and the people are always friendly. You get a real bang for your buck here with the Texas sized portions. I usually go for the enchilada plate (comes with your rice, guac, pico, your choice of beans). The chips and salsa are standard.
