It's your average Mexican place. Used to have the cheapest lunch menu in town, but not anymore. It does the job, but doesn't blow me away. The worst part of this place is the slow service. There's one guy in particular who never checks on his tables. I've wait for my check for 29 minutes. It's a smaller place so it can get pretty loud on a busy night. You're better off going across the bridge to La Carreta. read more

Fantastic experience! I have been seeking a new go-to Mexican restaurant since our favorite one closed. This place checked all the boxes! The interior was decorated for Christmas, super cute, and we were greeted and seated instantly. Our waiter was friendly with a smile on his face and our chips, salsa, and drinks came out in record time. The salsa was great! It has just the tiniest bit of a kick to it and loads of cilantro which is a huge plus for me. They have a diverse menu and so many options sounded delicious so it was difficult to choose, but I went with a Tex-Mex Burrito with chicken. The food came out very fast. The burrito was smothered in queso which was another huge plus! Decent sized portions, the chicken and peppers and onions had an awesome flavor from their char marks. I loved the rice and beans. (Side note: I hate when places make you choose one or the other and was relieved to receive both!) There were two hot sauce options on the table and one of them might be a new favorite of mine. I do regret not trying the margarita on special for only $4! What a steal! For dinner, our two meals were $30 and we both took home leftovers. I will say, I am used to larger portions, but for the price it absolutely cannot be beat! Very satisfied with our visit here and I already can't wait to come back. Give it a try! read more

I visited Los Chortos in Advance around 1:30 PM, and the experience was very mixed. When we arrived, there were only two people working and only about three customers seated, so the dining room was almost empty. Even with such a small crowd, the service moved extremely slowly, and food came out at very uneven times -- some of my party received their meals well before others, and one of my dishes was even incorrect before being corrected later. The sanitation rating posted was a 90, which made me a little cautious right from the start. The pricing also feels high for the quality and consistency of what was served. I began with the guacamole. The seasoning and flavor were actually quite good, but the execution missed the mark -- the avocado was noticeably firm and under-ripe, and the tomatoes were completely forgotten. Something as simple as guacamole should shine with freshness, and this one didn't. The enchilada had decent flavor, but it carried that slightly "held too long" taste -- not spoiled, just not as fresh or vibrant as it should be. I originally ordered three beef tacos, but chicken was brought out first. Once the correct beef tacos finally arrived, they were much better -- flavorful, fresh, and probably the strongest item I tried. The rice and the chips were also well-prepared and tasted fresh. The weakest dish by far was the taco salad/avocado salad. It was extremely watery, unpleasant in texture, and simply not enjoyable -- it felt like it was thrown together without proper preparation. Overall, I would give Los Chortos around three stars. There are flashes of good food here -- the beef tacos, rice, chips, and the seasoning of the guacamole were all positives -- but the inconsistency, slow service despite an almost empty dining room, order mistakes, and a few poorly executed dishes made the experience uneven. I've had good meals here before, so it's possible I just chose the wrong items this time. I'll come back again, but I'm hoping for a more consistent and polished experience next visit. read more

Los Toritos is a great addition to a small town with limited options. As a forewarning, the parking lot is a little confusing to get to, but Google Maps will get you there just fine. The atmosphere is typical of a smaller Mexican restaurant, but has more than enough TVs to be able to watch sports or other shows while you eat. There's is a karaoke machine for playing your choice of music. The meals are affordable with good portions, and everything was as it should be. The waitress was nice and attentive. After having seen some rather high reviews of this restaurant, I decided to give it a try for lunch. This is a rather small, compact place with a small bar area. I ordered 4 tacos - 2 Chorizo and 2 Carnitas, along with a single Chile Relleno as a side item. My order was on the table in just over 10 minutes, and there was a lot of food. The tacos were topped with plenty of onions and cilantro and there were 2 accompanying salsa - one green, tomatillo based, tasty but mild; the other was red pepper based with some heat. The tacos were rapped in a single tortilla. The Carnitas taco was a bit dry, the verde sauce helped a little. The Chorizo was about the same and were surprisingly chewy. Again the sauce helped some but that's just putting a bandage on a wound. The Chile Relleno was good, not great and was filled with just cheese. The poblano had some heat but was more than a little overcooked. The accompanying sauce was tasty but rather mild. The beans were flavorful with some whole beans mixed in. The rice was a rather strange orange color and lacked flavor. The service was excellent, but the food was average at best, and I don't see a return visit m. read more

A new to me Mexican restaurant in Advance. I like trying new places so in we went. The place was clean and we were seated promptly. The menu is unique. It has a lot of Mexican dishes I've never seen on other restaurants menus. I got the 4 enchiladas. 1 bean, cheese, beef and chicken respectively. The food was good, not great, and certainly nothing of a "wow" factor. It was a good basic meal. No beans or rice with this dish. Service was good. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The food was ok. Nothing to make me to want to come back but I will's give them another chance and try some of the unique dishes they had on their menu. I'll keep you updated. read more

This little gem in Advance I'd have to say has the best Mexican. Great food and service and atmosphere. Live music on Thursday night ! I was surprised at how busy they were too. They have a great patio too . I loved their salsa nice and fresh . Chips seemed a little stale . Great menu choices. Some different than your standard local Mexican place. Great margarita list and all your usual suspects on the cocktail list. I got the enchiladas mexicana, with green sauce and chicken. This hot plate came out loaded and I was already full looking at it ! The sauce was super tasty and plenty of chicken and I really liked their rice and beans which I usually find bland everywhere. Really enjoyed my plate but no way can I eat 3 enchiladas! My friends had the quesadilla grande, with chicken and again it comes fully loaded . She really enjoyed it and wiped her plate clean Also the ACP, better looking plate than most I've seen in other places. Lots of chicken and rice ! Everyone's food was delicious and tasty. Los Toritos #2 is a solid 4 stars to start. The inside is small, yet surprising just how many tables there are. With this said, it isn't crowded and bunched but spaced out perfectly with a refreshing new decor that fits the restaurant. The table salsa and chips were slightly bland to start but I ordered the street tacos for my meal and they were amazing! I sampled the ACP, along with the rice and beans that came with my meal and definitely no complaints. The service was spot on with the drinks never running dry. All servers were anxious to assist in any way possible. I will definitely be returning soon! read more

Ordered a few items for take out and was terribly disappointed. The beef fajita taco salad was swimming in liquid (cheese sauce?) and the shell was basically inedible. This is not my experience when ordered previously! The Los Toritos nachos were soggy to the point of limp as well. These items were picked up when ready and put on the table for dinner immediately. Only live 2 miles away so the driving and serving time should not have had this impact. Please fix this !!! Since this use to be my favorite Mexican restaurant, I'm hoping this meal was the exception to the rule. read more

Visited Los Toritos for the first time last evening. Great service, great food and we really enjoyed sitting in their outdoor area which I found very comfortable. The waitress was efficient, prompt and checked on us often. Excellent!!!! We both got the Chimichanga plate. It comes with two chimichangas and we each choose a chicken and a beef. Both were very tasty. The plate came with rice and beans and a salad with tomatoes, lettuce, guacamole and sour cream. The beans and rice were flavorful. I decided to splurge and ordered a lime frozen margarita. It went well with the meal. Festive glass and served very nice!!! We will be going back. You should try it. read more

Decided to stop here for supper Wednesday night 7/20/22 instead of going to La Caretta every time when stay in this area and I'm glad we did! Wasn't very crowded when we arrived so we were seated immediately. Chips and salsa were brought to the table and the salsa was very good with a touch of heat. Started off with Modela Negra's, one of our favorite Mexican beers and then ordered the Texas fajitas for two which had steak, chicken and shrimp. It also came with warm flour tortillas, rice, beans, shredded lettuce, sour cream and pico de Gallo with fresh cilantro. You could taste that the fajitas were cooked on a well seasoned flat top griddle. As you can see by the photo that was one big pile of fajitas! We each ate two and had more than plenty to take home for supper Sunday night and our daughter joined us, so fajitas for two turned into fajitas for five! Everything was very good and we left stuffed. Our server Angel didn't seem very personable at first but warmed up during the meal and service ended up being very good. With the beers, tax and tip it was right at $45 but that was enough food for two meals. I think we have found our new go to Mexican restaurant the next time we come to Bermuda Run. read more

This is our favorite local Mexican restaurant. If we are in the mood for Mexican this is where we go! It's fast, convenient and has a drive thru! I love not having to get out of my car with my kids to pick up food! It's a smaller restaurant, but does offer outdoor seating in warmer weather. The service is always spot on! I have always liked my food from here and have chosen different things than I normally pick and have always liked them. My favorite is the tacos de carne asada. The service was friendly, and they have a pretty big menu. However, if you can't nail the basics like tacos, it doesn't leave much hope. The menu reminds me a bit of La Carreta, Mi Pueblo, Monte de Rey, etc. Which I'm not a fan of any of those. It's just unfortunate that the meats, of which I tried Asada, Carnitas, Diablo and al Pastor, all were quite tough and chewy. It was a workout for the jaw to say the least. There was plenty of flavor in the Diablo, which was a spicy Asada. But the other meats lacked flavor and quality I look for in a Mexican restaurant. read more

Ordered takeout lunch today and it was awful! I ordered the fajita quesadilla Texas. I like visiting this place b/c it's close enough to my home that I can be home in 5 min with hot food. Well, today, the ingredients of my quesadilla were cold and looked as if they had been sitting around for hours. The worst part was there was no cheese! No cheese in it, no cheese on it!! It's a quesadilla!!!!! So I call to report this to management twice to inform her and both times I get the story, oh, u just missed her, she just left. I called once at lunch time and asked when will she be back and was told later in the evening, so I called back at 6:30 and again of course, oh, sorry, she just left. I know when I'm being jerked around! Anyone, with so many places to eat, I'll just disappear! Yes, it takes more time to cook fresh meal but I'd rather wait longer and get fresh food than to get quick leftovers. It was like $11 for this crap ! However, ordering on the phone is a completely different story. 3 times in a row I have attempted to order and ended up hanging up because I am interrupted so much while trying to order and then they tell me they can't hear me or can't understand me. I'm comping one star for the fact the restaurant was packed and also that this is a really new place and perhaps trying to get the kinks ironed out. Also being built on the frame of a DQ they couldn't do much with the interior however it is a pretty cramped feeling place. That being said, 4 of us got there last night around 5:15 (2 couples) and they were moderately busy. Within 10 minutes the people had literally doubled. So about the food and drinks....2 of us got Corona premier and that's all we got because they ran out of beer. Whoever heard of a Mexican restaurant running out of Corona? The other 2 of us got margaritas. Although my friend liked his, this was the worst margarita I've ever had in my life. It was bland and tasted almost watered down with very little tequila and even less flavor. I even ordered a shot to pour into what was left of mine to give it... just something. I kept mushing the lime on the bottom of the glass trying to give it more flavor but to no avail. I asked for a side of refried beans which never came but was charged for and then had to take it off after the ticket had already been run. Speaking of the check...the server brought one check which he gave to my friend. We were obviously 2 couples and why he chose to pick my friend rather than ask how or if we would like the check split is a mystery. As far as service....sloooooooooooooooow. Slow to get drinks, slow to get chips and salsa, slow to get food, slow to get the check. Mexican restaurants are usually some of the quickest food ever which is one of the great reasons I love Mexican food...it's good, fast and cheap. Usually. The entrees, I will say are pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary. Chips and salsa...meh. Can't say anything about deserts as we were never asked. Chip basket was never refilled, we ran out totally...as were finishing up with the meal clearly almost done, the girl who brought the chips and salsa half heartedly asked if we wanted more chips. Obviously not. Overall this is the second worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to and will not go back. La Carreta, you are still number one in my book and you have nothing to worry about your new Mexican neighbor in Bermuda Run.
