My family and I had lunch at Los Vaqueros today, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. My wife and daughter ordered beef tacos, and I went with the chicken fajitas. At every other Mexican restaurant I've been to, fajitas are served sizzling on a skillet, but here they were simply plated together with everything on one plate. They only gave me two flour tortillas, and the fajitas lacked flavor. My wife and daughter didn't care for their beef tacos either. On the positive side, our server was friendly and attentive. However, the food itself just wasn't good, and for us, it wasn't worth coming back. This was our first -- and our last -- visit to Los Vaqueros. read more

Somebody complained about them using beef tallow and that's all I needed to hear; I couldn't wait to come here during our lunch break for The Promise @ Willow Park Baptist!! DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Some bad reviews are to be expected because we all have bad days. Definitely was not my experience and I'll always vote for beef tallow vs the seed oils that are PROVEN extremely toxic and dangerous for us. We waited for a while before anyone checked on us to ask for drinks. Then we waited even longer to take our order. Waitstaff disappeared and didn't check in to refill water. Food was mediocre and took forever to arrive. Ambiance is lacking. We were stuck in a table wedged up between a wall and an opening of a private dining room that had lots of foot traffic. Went to this location for a celebration with a party of 10. Was seated within 10 minutes or so. Tables were mismatched so eating was awkward. Plates didn't sit flat but that's not nearly as bad as the server. At first she was funny and we interacted with her but all that changed when she asked a question to one of the two GUEST OF HONORS! He was is conversation and she interrupted with "hey motor mouth"..." I don't know his name, so I named him, motor mouth" ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!? Then she delivers the food to his mother and the taco slides off the plate onto the table. She grabs it with her hands places it the plate and says "I'll get you another one" not "I am so sorry!" She brings her a taco to replace it. No idea if it was a new one or not. The other young man, GUEST OF HONOR, looks at my daughter and says "why does she keep pressing herself against me? I'm so uncomfortable, what do I do?" My daughter tries to help when she returns. She sees the servers hand moving to the guest of honors back and places her hand on him. The server doesn't pull back but places her hand on my daughter's hand. Not to be already outdone by herself. As she's clearly the table behind us a bowl of fruit comes in mine and another's direction. No apologies. She doesn't even clean it up! I said oh she's throwing fruit at us! She says, " oh that had wings." Still no apology, she doesn't even clean it up but leaves it there the entire meal!!! Every time she returned to our table she was talking about herself. How she has worked there over 30 years. During c-19 she was paid by the government and got a pool. We had two check split 6 on one 4 on the other. She put her own tip on the bill!!!! So as not to embarrass our guests of honor and their families we decided to just quietly leave. As we were beginning to leave she sat down behind me and started asking personal questions. The pluses. Service, spanish rice, hard beef taco and fillings. Decent beef and cheese enchiladas. Negatives. Refried beans tasted straight out of a can with no spices or flavor. Tortillas, extra cost of course, were not hand made and straight out of a Mission package. The two enchiladas and taco were 17 bucks. My daughter's chicken enchildas were very mediocre with little flavor and no spices. If management reads these reviews, please note that high prices, mediocre quality food and serving corn and flour tortillas out of a package with watery hot sauce and greasy chips, is a recipe for future closure. We won't be back. Three enchilda meals, with lousy tortillas, two waters and a sprite, was 58 bucks and with tip, 70 bucks total. Don't recommend. read more

We visited the restaurant on a bustling Friday night, part of a rather large birthday party. Our main waitress, Becky (if I recall correctly), did a fantastic job. She expertly managed the room with the skill of a seasoned pro. My wife ordered a spicy ranch water, while I stuck with my usual, unsweet tea. Some birthday guests noted a peculiar taste in the water. My cousin's husband, Monty, even joked about looking for minnows in his glass. I didn't find the water or tea unpleasant, perhaps they just have more refined palates. The sectioned-off room was splendid, though I was mildly annoyed by a crooked picture hanging too high to fix myself. Both my wife and I ordered the carne asada. I always enjoy a well-charred steak covered in grilled onions.The salsa and chips were good, though I would have preferred a bit more spice. My wife's spicy ranch water looked appealing, though she mentioned it could use more kick, both in heat and alcohol content. She ordered another, so it couldn't have been too bad. When the entree arrived, it was a bit underwhelming visually for a $24 dish. The charro beans were tasty, though a tad salty. There was a single onion slice atop the steak. The steak itself was about a quarter-inch thick, overcooked, and lacked any charred edges. It almost looked sous vide, with a uniform grayish color throughout. The sliced avocados and tomatoes added a nice touch, and the rice was well-cooked with good flavor. Overall, while the entree was disappointing, the excellent service and overall experience somewhat compensated for it. read more

Not really impressed with this place. The service was okay, not bad not amazing. The restaurant itself is nice inside, I think you could drive by several times and not realize it was a restaurant. It was busy but we didn't have to wait so that was nice. The food was very mediocre. Chips and salsa were okay, they were what I call the "frito" style chips. We had chicken fajitas and 3 chile rellanos, neither were very good and I'm not sure if a single person at our table finished our meal. Overall, decent place to try, but I wouldn't ever go back. Nothing about it was horrible, but TEX-MEX is super common in this area and there are several significantly better options. read more

I worked there for a month and they kept all my checks. They issued me 3 checks and they all bounced. When confronted they just kept issuing another check that bounced. They are not good people. They had decided to demote a manager there. So they fired me and gave her my job. When asked what I did wrong they just said we found a better fit. My SO and I just moved to the area and have started trying out some of the local eats. This was on our list to try., especially for a nice margarita or happy hour. The atmosphere is cute with a patio out front, and the inside decor is also nice. The wait staff are pretty friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I think we tried a tamale, enchiladas, regular taco and street tacos. The street tacos were by far our favorite and the margaritas were decent. The food and service was good., however, the portion size is smaller than I would have liked especially for the price. I purchased a large quesadilla and what they brought me was very petite small. LV West hasn't been open that long as of Feb 2021 but they are sure coming out of the gate well. Stopped by for dinner and it was a very nice experience. The chips and salsa is good but I figured out why they built a Taco Bell not far from here and Taco Casa. Those fast food restaurants have better food! Very sad. The chalupas were bland and mostly just lettuce. The guacamole looked instant and like cat poo. My sister gagged and almost puked from trying it. She's still gagging the day after at the thought of it. The owners or chefs need to go to Rio Mambo and try their chalupas elegantes that are great! Beautiful little restaurant, great ambiance, sweet outside seating with conversation/waiting area, and good country music in the background. However, the food was a little pricy for nothing fabulous. We ordered fajitas (steak & shrimp); the steak and shrimp both looked great but completely lacked flavor. The jalapeño poppers ($12) were very disappointing, at $2 each for 1/2 of a jalapeño topped with plain ground beef and melted cheddar cheese. The salsa was great with a slight kick and the staff were friendly. If the food were better, I would rate them a high 4. I really wanted to love the food because the restaurant is so cute but the shrimp actually left a bad taste in my mouth. We are new to the area and were excited to try what seems like the only sit-down Mexican restaurant in the area. Sadly, we won't be back. If you have high standards for cocktails, you'll probably be disappointed by the margaritas. They taste like sweet and sour over ice (even the skinny). The fajitas were mediocre but we were shocked when the bill came out and showed $48 for the fajitas alone! All in all, Rosa's drive thru is better quality. Food was good. Service was horrible. We ate here after the lunch crowd (not busy). We ordered our meal and two cocktails and I also asked for more salsa. Food was delivered and we didn't have our cocktails yet. My wife noticed them at the bar. Our waitress passed them several times so my wife got up to get them. Waitress never came by to check on us and never brought the salsa I asked for. So I went and got my own salsa. Waitress was totally oblivious to the fact that we had to serve ourselves. read more

Our family recently had a birthday party in the patio room for approximately 30 people. I have to say it was wonderful! They gave me so much help from unloading my car, refrigerating the cake and helping me get the space ready for the party. We had 2 excellent waitresses who were tasked with taking all the orders separately and billing separately. They were fast, efficient, accurate and and so nice and polite. I can't say thank you enough to everyone there that helped us. The food was wonderful, everything was hot when it was served and no one went without prompt drink orders.
