So I met Jeanette who was working the bar by herself because her other bartender called out (from my ear hussling) I do have to say she made me feel welcomed for my first time coming into this establishment. She was very friendly and did everything with a smile and talked to everyone who was at the bar. She let me sample a few drinks and actually made me a customized beer which was very tasty. I ordered one one of the specials which was Dave's Burger and OMG it was so tasty that I did not get a pic of it and the FRIES lemon pepper parmesan BELLISIMO. No fault to the restaurant, but obviously there's issues when you have keypad locks on your restrooms to keep out unwanted riff raft. We came here while on a road trip for some beer tasting and to pick up a growler of beer we can't get at home. EVERYTHING we tried am was great! We make it a point to stop at Lost Coast Brewery & Cafe whenever we are traveling through Eureka. This time was no exception and they had some new beers to try - I tried the hazy IPA. It went really well with their excellent shrimp taco plate & Thai salad. My wife & I split both dishes because they are very generous portions. I usually try to avoid fried anything but when on vacation, it can be quite a treat. Especially when the fried shrimp or fish is beer-battered. I can not rave enough about this place. By far one of my favorite to visit. Totally worth the drive from the bay area! I have been here multiple times now and it never disappoints. The beer is always top notch and the food is killer. With big portions to keep you fed while you sample the beers they have to offer. I recently came in and received the most above and beyond service from Dino at this location, I had shared with him that I am traveling and lost coast brewing was a must go to for myself and I wanted to purchase a patch I just drove 7.5 hrs from Yosemite NP and went to the larger location were I was met at the door and was refused service and registers were already closed down, even though they had 20mins left until actual closing time. I am so happy that I came to cafe location and was blown away, food was amazing but a special thanks to the staff where they did find a patch and it was given to me. Well, my and uncle and I stoped in here. And it was pretty busy so we assumed busy restaurant must be good. NOPE. Food was completely bland. The "garlic fries" were just over fried plain fries with garlic bits dumped on top. And the roast beef for the sandwich way over cooked. My uncle got the cod sandwich that had the tiny pieces of cod on it. The atmosphere is cool I guess. The server looked like he'd rather be any where else. Barely checked on us. Until the end when he picked up the check wondering if we needed change. Let's just say I didn't eat my meal. The manager (I'm guessing here he didn't introduce himself) did take my meal off our bill and he did ask if I wanted something else. I did not. So I'll give them credit for that. We took my uneaten meal and gave it to a guy we saw who really needed something to eat. Not sure if we'll be returning; I'm leaning towards doubtful. read more

All in all - 2.5 We had planned to stop by their brewery on our way through from the real Lost Coast. Made sure we had the time to make the tour. Even confirmed the tour online. When we got there we waited around for about 30 minutes before someone finally told us the tour was cancelled because they "didn't have the staff". Annoying. But that is the brewery. Doesn't affect the restaurant review. My purpose was to show that I wanted their beer enough to then head to the restaurant for dinner. First the beer. It was okay. Two or three good beers (out of 10). None of the beers were terrible but that is still only a 20-30% success rate. I would definitely be selective about which of their beers I drink. I was also a little disappointed that the flight was their pretty standard beers you can get at any bottle shop. They had some interesting beers on the board but not part of the flight. I would have loved to have something unique at their home base. Now the food. I got the Famous Hot Brown. Roast beef simmered in their Downtown Brown beer with bacon and cheese. It was...edible. I didn'r really get any taste of the Downtown Brown. Just dry roast beef. Really dry. Like I probably wouldn't have finished it dry. But, I asked the server for a side of au jus. That did the trick. Took it from a disappointment to a pretty decent sandwich. But I can't give them credit for that. I'm the one that had to make their supposedly famous sandwich palatable. Besides, you can dip cardboard into au jus and it tastes good. My fries were hot and good. W got the Humbolt Green Party veggie burger with the beyond meat patty and grilled onions. She said it was good. Nothing special but good. The dressing she got on the side salad was actually quite good. Little got the mac n cheese. She ate it. Enough said. Food came out in a reasonable time. Probably a tad slow for some but we were on vacation so we didn't care. The price point brought this average experience down a notch. We are talking about Eureka here (no offense to Eureka). $14.99 for my hot brown is actually more expensive than the hot pastrami at Millers, or Wise Sons, or Mortys in San Francisco. When your sandwiches are pushing SF prices they better be killer. These were not. read more

This place was great. We had the Beyond Burger and Chicken Sandwich, both were delicious. The seasoned fries were good as well. They had a nice selection of beers on tap. Just ok. My wife and I stopped by with our son for dinner. Was pretty busy, but found a table just past the bar. First strike: Took about 10 minutes for a server to notice us and stop by to take a drink order. Second strike: Took another 15 minutes or so to get our drinks after we ordered them. Terrible service. The wait staff and the cooks laugh at you. My appetizer was way over cooked, what can i do. But when we asked for alittle more spice in the main course, it came out inedible hot. we sent it back, then we listened to about 15 mins of the kitchen staff along with several waitresses bad mouth and insult us. Since then, my taste in brewskies has changed and fluctuated with each passing year, but my love for Tangerine remains the same. Love remains the same, man. That's why I was so excited to finally visit Lost Coast in Eureka while on a road trip with my fellow beer loving girlfriends. I was pleased to find it even more eccentric and funky than I would have thought. We sat next to a giant spider on a string that moved up and down every time someone opened the backdoor. I tried not to freak out. The Classic Flight of 10 tasters was the perfect amount for 3 people to finish off. We got to try the seasonals along with the classics, like Great White, Alleycat Amber, Downtown Brown, the Pale, and two IPAs. Sad to find out that Apricot is only available on tap here, not in bottles to take home. Food was pretty decent as well. Portions are large and decently priced. I noticed that my friend received nachos that had a ton of broken chips hidden underneath and didn't appreciate that. Service was also on the slow and unenthusiastic side, but that is one server out of the several that work there, so I can't rate them too harshly. All in all, we had a good time here. Being a fan of Lost Coast Brewery's fine ales and beers, I was more than excited to come here and order a pint of beer on draft. I love visiting breweries and beer tasting more than wineries and wine these days. We are big fans of Tangerine Wheat and Great White, but I was hoping to try something new. I ordered the 8 Ball Stout, which is the strongest they have. He ordered the Tangerine Wheat, which we have all the time, but he wanted on tap. To each their own, pint that is. The place was packed with families and people enjoying beer and food. I only had the one pint, since we still had driving time before we reached our destination - but would gladly come back for more. ;) read more

The food was good but the price to quantity is not proportional. $14.99 for Fish & Chips is standard but only two pieces of fish is not, 3's the minimum in my opinion. My wife and I shared a cup of chowder, buffalo wings, and fish & chips. I also had a Watermelon Wheat Beer and my wife had a Great White. The chowder was really yummy but not thick enough. On the thin & watery side, but the flavor was there. The buffalo wings, which I had before and loved, tasted like your average run of the mill wings. Nothing I'd return for as a wing connoisseur. The fish & chips were by far our favorite part of the meal. We ordered it with the seasoned fries which were full of flavor and crisp. The fish was outstanding. Nice, light buttery batter and flaky fish inside. Only con was only having two strips. We each had one and done. Disappointing as it was our favorite part of the meal. The beers as usual were perfect. They are a brewery after all and it shows. I tried the watermelon wheat for the first time and was blown away by how light it was for a wheat beer. The watermelon flavor shines through and makes it just a really tasty drink that doesn't land too heavy which makes it perfect for pairing with dinner. I honestly want to give this place 4 stars because I rarely give out 5 stars unless a place knocks my socks off (and this spot has never done that). However, they get the 5th star because Shelly begins the bar is awesome. Friendly. A slight smart-a$$, which I love. Great recommendations. Exactly what you want when your eating at a bar solo during a business trip. The food is always good. Nothing spectacular, but good. Huge portions. Always fresh. Make sure to check out the socials board because they have some fun stuff every day. The interior is classic brew pub. You know - what a brew pub looked and felt like before they were everyone and venture capitalists invested and made them look fancy. This is what I miss about brew pubs. My only issue, oddly, is the beer. Lost Coast beer is just ok in my opinion. Occasionally they have a special one on tap I really like, but it's usually mediocre stuff I can get in any liquor store.
