I have been here multiple times and had a great time visiting Lost Coast Brewery and Cafe with a friend recently while visiting Humboldt County. We went here for lunch and the place was busy. Everyone was really friendly and helpful and the service was great. There is plenty of parking nearby and parking in lot behind the restaurant. It is in the downtown Eureka area so you can visit the shops in the area as well while you are there. I ended up ordering the Humboldt Green Party. If you get this, you will have an option of the Beyond Burger or the Tofu Shop patty. I ended up getting the Beyond Burger and fries. It was very filling and tasty. The atmosphere has a relaxed vibe and is fun. I enjoy eating here and will definitely be back again next time I am in the area. read more

As a Eureka native, I have grown up around Lost Coast beers and can specifically remember my first taste of a lukewarm Great White when I was rather young. That being said, my most recent trip, many, many years later, exceeded my expectations! I started off with a Hazy IPA as recommended by their server as one of their most popular beers. It was actually one of the best I've had this season! Not too heavy, perfect taste and enough bite to be an enjoyable brew through and through. Pretty much a 30 plus year customer. How could you not enjoy a pint or two in one of the original micro brew houses. I was first in at opening and within the hour the place was full. First of all let me say the food was pretty good. The reason for the two stars is due to their deceptive pricing. The menu clearly said you can have fries, soup, salad or coleslaw with your sandwich . But they failed to tell you unless you read the fine print at the very bottom is that they charge you $1.50 for the soup that they clearly said you could have. also my waiter did not mention the extra charge. When we questioned the waiter, he said he stopped telling people about the extra charge. Also a charge of $2.49 for a slice of cheese on a burger is absolutely ridiculous and after all that they have the guts to charge a 3% service fee. due to the above mentioned complaints I will not return and I certainly wouldn't recommend them. read more

I was in Eureka, California, 9 hours away from home mind you, for work related matters, this was no vacation. With that said I was familiar with this beer I had been sipping here and there while at home called Lost Coast Brewery Tangerine Wheat. This beer was almost like drinking Blue Moon, but way better!! Well the Brewery was located in Eureka and well I had to try the restaurant food. This place was awesome, the decor was very cool with a big giant spider greeting you at the front door and Lost Coast beer label artwork everywhere. This Brewery was awesome!!! Almost like an adult beer-themed Disneyland attraction. My opinion only. I ordered a Draft Root Beer ( I was on the clock) which was so good, you could tell they brewed their own sodas and it looked appealing, almost like drinking a beer. Anyways I ordered the Cheesy Chicken Club, which came with a grilled chicken breast, smoked applewood bacon, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, a garlic aioli spread, on a Artisan roll. In addition I ordered lemon pepper parmesan fries. Talk about WOW!!! This sandwich was so good with all the flavors from the chicken breast, bacon, and aioli spread, and the parmesan fries. CRAZY GOOD!! This place was amazing and knowing they sold awesome beer was just an added bonus. Did I mention the deep fried pickles...oh you have to try them for yourself and you will want more. I probably wont make it back up there anytime soon, but if you are in Eureka and decide to go to the Lost Coast Brewery, you won't be disappointed. EAT AND DRINK HERE!!! First off let me say our server was nice. Secondly my order was simple just no coleslaw on my sandwich. The tables orders started coming out one at a time, The I was last in the delivery. The server said he noticed that coleslaw was on my sandwich and ask to have it fixed. Time goes on everybody had almost finished their meals and I was told it would be at least another 5 minutes. It's always hard to rate brew pubs because often I have different feelings for the beers vs. the restaurant/food. For the beer, I'd give Lost Coast a 4. They have some solid classics year round that are quite dependably delicious, plus a few rotating seasonals to look forward to testing out on our infrequent visits north that you cant always find in liquor stores further south. Today we didn't have any food, but in the past, I recall the menu being pretty typical brewpub fare and decent. Memory would rate the quality a 3.5. Our highlight today was our server Shelly taking care of us at the bar. LCBC has a standard tasting flight that includes its 8-10 classics (which we have sampled many, many times!). When we shared with Shelly that we were visiting and hoping to just sample the 4 new seasonals we couldn't find at home, she very happily accommodated our request. Thank you, Shelly! We visited Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka and decided to try a few different items. I ordered the famous Hot Brown, and my wife had the Reuben. We also got the Calamari appetizer, a hazy IPA, and some soft drinks. The wait time was about 20 minutes, and the service was quick and to the point. Although the beer is good, the customer service sucks. When you ask if you can buy the beer tins they have at the festivals, they tell you not possible as it is the only one but to look on the website as they sell them. I've been slightly obsessed with Lost Coast Brewery ever since I tasted their watermelon wheat beer. Honestly, it's one of the best wheat beers that I've had and I'm obsessed with the taste. It's a wheat beer but it has that sour beer vibe to it. And, sour beers are Shayla's all time faves. When I took a trip up north to Eureka, there was no question in my mind that I'd be coming to this legendary brewery to check it out first hand. And boy, did they NOT disappoint! The vibes here are nothing short of incredible! I'd come here for an afterwork nightcap. I'd come here to meet up with friends. I'd come here to catch a game. Hell, I'd come here JUST to come here. The bartenders are super fun and the crowd is even more fun! They have plenty of tables, plenty of seats at the bar. But despite its' spaciousness, everyone wants a piece of this little pie. So, you can expect it to be busy and if you want a table, there may be a wait. Although I adore their watermelon wheat, I took this opportunity to try some of the other beers that they had on tap. And by some, I mean hella beer samples aka that flight! If you know what you want, then just go ahead and get it. But if you're up for some fun and a little exploring, get the flight! That thing will not only have you damn near twisted by the end of the night, but you'll be impressed with the range of variety that Lost Coast has. I won't go into detail about every little beer sample that I had because let's face it; I don't remember them all and nobody has time to read each and every detail about a sampler. BUT... what I will say is that I enjoyed each and every sample. EVERY sample. That is a rarity for this girl. And that Raspberry Brown was truly something else! Imagine Downtown Brown with a raspberry twist! Hallelujah to that! You really can't lose with the delicious beers here. As far as the "cafe" portion of the brewery goes, unfortunately I didn't partake this time around. But everything, I mean EVERYTHING that was coming out of that kitchen made my mouth water. Their chipotle shrimp mac and garlic bread royally killed my nose with joy! Next time I will DEF be eating here too! I also much mention; this is the best place to get your cases of beer. They're cheaper to get here than anywhere else... even in the grocery stores. So, you better stock up! All in all, Lost Coast Brewery is a solid spot to get some delicious brews! First things first. DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDING IF YOU LEAVE YOUR NAME WITH THE HOSTESS They do not take your phone number nor do they let you know that your name is automatically taken off the wait list if you leave the building. Or at least that's what the hostess informed me the night I went. Sounds like a fire hazard and Public Health should look into that. That's what he hostess let me know. Tonight that is. I set a timer for 15 min to make sure I did not miss a table I get there and she tells me that's I left the building so they automatically take your name off the list: Not once did they mention that. She also stated the wait list is an hour long and they closed in an hour. So I def was the only person that was turned away apparently. Could it be color related? Since the hostess was a little white girl and I a little brown girl put my name down and I was told a 30 min wait. Came back 15 min later then was told it's an hour wait and I'm no longer on the list. Even when i came back BEFORE the 30 min wait. Perhaps the hostess does not care about providing the best customer service. Or maybe she saw a brown girl and thought "not near me no" given the pigment different between us Either start calling your customers if you will do the safe thing and let them step outside. Or get a hostess that loves to give customer service to her clients. read more

We arrived on Wednesday early evening and the restaurant was pretty busy. We started with some of the beer, cup of clam chowder and the soft pretzel. First iff I want to say that while busy the service was stellar! Our waiter was very Attentive and very friendly! We are very picky with clam chowder, and have disappointed many times before, but this chowder was actually good, it didn't need any extra seasoning and it was very creamy. Next time we are going to get a bowl of it. The soft pretzel is so buttery and soft and we got it with the mustard. We had the soft pretzel our first visit, with some beer, and that made us go back again. That mustard, just wow. One of my favorite soft pretzels at a restaurant. My husband had the soft shell crab sandwich, and I got the French dip (I have to try the French dip any time I see it). But. I was sad after tasting the soft shell crab burger that I didn't order it! It was soooo good. It was crispy and tender and everything on the sandwich worked so well together. Even though my husband was getting full he kept eating it because it was that good! The French dip, was not the worst nor the best, yet still better than mediocre. I added Swiss, onions, and mushrooms. The roast beef was pretty tender and it definitely did not disappoint. But I compare everything to this tri tip French dip I get at a deli and this prime rib French dip I had at the Russian river, those two are still my favorites. But this French dip would definitely satisfy your craving! What I loved was that everything showed up hot, fresh, and on heated plates. The garlic fries I got where very nice, the garlic wasn't as pungent as I've had on other fries at other places. Five stars for the fruit wheat beers! The tangerine and apricot ones were so delicious and not too sweet at all. We also ordered some IPAs but the fruit beers definitely stood out the most. This place is amazing. If you're ever in town, passing by town, or ever get the chance to visit and love beer, lost coast is your place. Their #1 seller great white can be found at your local shop, but they have so much more to offer than the great white. They have both the taproom and the brewery for tours, but this place is great if you're looking to dine in as well. They have shirts, souvenirs and also pinball machine for the kids to play while waiting. Two stories to find a seat or a seat at the bar. The food is decent but the beer is better. Lots of beers to try from and an ever rotating tap of new goodies. I am so happy I was able to check this place out while I was in town. They made dining so comfortable even with kids! read more

The service: This was one of the most odd and uncomfortable restaurants I've ever been in. First, we get through the door and wait at the "host stand" which is a tiny post in the middle of a crowded restaurant. There's absolutely no space to comfortably wait while your table is getting prepared. If you go too far outside, the ringer will not buzz.. The service was also mediocre. The hostess and servers were friendly, but not professional at all. The atmosphere: So, we wait inside at the bar stools while our table is prepared and our experience gets exponentially worse from there. It was a Sunday evening and the place is full of screaming, loud children and barbaric drunks. This atmosphere is wayyyy too laid back, especially as someone from out of town. The tables are super close together too, making it a crammed place to dine. Cleanliness: In addition to an already uninviting space, there were so many flies flying above our table once we got seated. Thank god none landed on our food, but a pretty gross environment to eat in. There was also a very odd, putrid smell to the entire place that made me feel sick while trying to eat my food. I was definitely ready to leave, but decided to stay because we were starving at this point. The food: the food wasn't the best and wasn't awful. I tried the lost coast shrimp tacos and they were good, not great. My best experience at this place was actually their tangerine wheat beer. Although not enough to spin this entire review around. Overall, as a tourist **SKIP THIS PLACE, and probably Eureka altogether. This is very clearly a locals place, with no accommodations and poor hospitality for newcomers. read more

Okay the food here is AMAZING! Definitely go with the seasoned fries it's got like a lemon parmesan dusting that is to die for. I got the Famous Hot Brown sandwich and man that was good! The flights are so fun and have 6 tasters so you can really try a variety. The 8 ball stout was delicious and I am typically NOT a stout girl. I'd have to say my favorites were the Fog-cutter IPA and the Sharkinator IPA. The Sharkinator is crisp and refreshing like a daytime IPA. Like a 1000% better version of Great White. I could not bring myself to order anything to eat but the husband and kids didn't seem to care. So they ordered burgers and clam chowder. Do yourself and your stomach a favor and skip this place. Greasy soggy like warm French fries- didn't try the burger ( the kids said it was good- but you can yet again kids don't know better). Clam chowder was interesting to say the least.
