I stopped into this lil restaurant I have passed it a few times and always wondered what it was like. When I walked in the atmosphere I saw was of an older almost 1950's style, the waitress was nice wearing the mask due to cov-19. I didn't have alot of time to stay I just stopped in to grab a quick bit so I ordered the potatoe bacon and chive soup. I noticed the soup was made homemade it was good although I felt it could use alittle more salt or maybe piece of bread or sour cream to add to it. This place has been one of my favorites since I was in high school. It always has a homey feel anytime of year and the food is consistently good. Whenever I go I almost always get the cheesy potato soup. This place is not super huge and can get busy but the food keeps us coming back. Recently I had the turkey sandwich and we were told that they roast a turkey everyday for their sandwiches and soups they make. One thing I would change if I got the turkey sandwich again would be to try a different type of bread. I had the focaccia which ended up being thinner and crispier than I'm used to for this type of bread. Their Italian I was told is Roma's bread which is always a staple when we visit the area. They also have an oat bread that I would like to try. One thing I do not like when I dine here is the water, the tap water has a chlorine taste. The food is always on point and delicious. The atmosphere is super cozy. I noticed the hours have changed and the new owners are offering breakfast. My turkey sandwich was good, but the bread was just ok. And it came with chips, I got about 6... they were out of the mac salad option. I've never been impressed with this place. The bread was a fake foccacia, not homemade, and the chicken was served in big chunks instead of slices with cold , clotted, gelatinous gravy and over-powering garlic mayo oozing out of it. In addition there was a layer of over-cooked slippery spinach which added nothing to it but more offensive flavors. I tried to eat the chicken separately by cutting it and the meat was very tough and gamey. AWFUL. Not going there again. However, the apron idea was cute. read more

Our group arrived at 2:40 and we had to make sure that we were going to be served given the late hour since this place closes at 3 o'clock and sure enough we were able to get around a large table and sit down. Our family enjoyed a ham and Swiss on toasted focaccia and a bowl of cream of broccoli soup in addition to an oven roasted turkey sandwich, with garlic mayo, provolone and a cup of chicken and stuffing soup. The food was prepared briskly and was brought to the table cheerfully and the flavors were absolutely outstanding. The ham and Swiss on focaccia bread is absolutely to die for, truly a decadent and flavorful treat. The other people in our party also cheered over the food, all had equally good experiences and the food was fresh very flavorful and plentiful. We all followed up with dessert I having the peach cobbler my wife the Apple crisp and my son apple crisp and while be peach cobbler was absolutely delicious the Apple crisp was divine. The Apples were soft but not mushy, the crisp was well, crispy, and topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping. The servers we could tell had been run particularly ragged today with what seemed like an above average number of guests and honestly I applaud their hard work and effort, as our party of 8 had a great lunch with memorable food. This was my and my family's first time at this restaurant and as a full-time RVing family we most certainly will eat here again on our next pass through the area and I would advise you to do the same. read more

When you order a bread bowl soup you get not only a bread bowl full of soup, but also another cup of soup on the side, and you can get two different soups! The sandwiches are phenomenal and the atmosphere is unmatched. Sitting down to eat is like going back in time to the 1930's. C-A-W is a delicious time machine. Well, once or twice a year I take a 7-hour road-trip that takes me along I-86 and for now on I'll always figure out a way to time my trip so that I can stop at Chat-A-While for lunch. It's THAT good. But to our surprise lunch was delicious. Came here to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in over a year. I had the cheesy potato soup and a hot chocolate. Both were absolutely delicious. My friends had the meatloaf sandwich and loved it. This is good old fashion home cooked food. The cafe name gives the impression you can hang out and catch up, and chat a while. This place is fabulous. When ever I come to visit my aunt, we plan two trips here, one for breakfast and one for lunch. For breakfast we always have the oatmeal with fruit. Best I've ever had. My aunt always gets autumn Bisque and quiche for lunch. I usually have potato soup and a sandwich. Meatloaf is my favorite, but also enjoy the chicken salad.
