We should have went anywhere but here. We ordered a carnitas breakfast burrito that appeared to be made with something more like tuna. It was disgusting. The fish sandwich special was mid at best. Not a lot of flavor and was way more expensive than it should have been. Chicken strips were chicken strips, not much going on there. The only thing that was good were the cheese curds. But they don't have marinara sauce, only garlic aioli. It took our server about 20 minutes to acknowledge us and that was only after we asked if they had table service or not. Maybe happy hour is good, but we went at noon. Nice ambiance, but expensive for bad food and mediocre portions. Breakfast sandwich was $12 and looked a mess. These photos are with the food untouched. Cheese wasn't melted. 2 egg classic - i guess we shouldn't have ordered 2 fried eggs for $12, but at least make it look nicer? Fried chicken had strange and thick breading. Tried Lost Lake Cafe & Lounge and really loved the vibe. It's cozy, lively, and has that classic diner-meets-lounge feel. The service was great and the staff were super friendly. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with fries and a grilled cheese with onion rings. The chicken sandwich was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The fries were well-seasoned too. The grilled cheese was comforting with gooey melted cheese, and the onion rings were crispy but a bit on the greasy side. Came here at 7am right after checking out of hotel. We ate on the cafe side. The other side is darker like a full dive bar. Food wasn't bad but I had the breakfast pancakes with blueberries/strawberries. My husband had pancake combo which is basically your eggs + bacon added. You can't really go wrong with that unless you completely suck. The server was very kind & attended to us right when we walked in & regularly after that. Eggs cooked perfectly, hash browns crispy on top and bottom, and biscuit baked well. I really like the biscuit, break it in half and heat steam out, crispy top layer and bottom layer, moist in the middle. Service was good and there is 5% service charge. I visited Seattle over the Forth of July weekend. Met with family who picked to come here for dinner. We showed up and there wasn't a lot of people in. I was told that if there weren't fireworks shows around town, this place would be super busy. So glad we went on a slow-ish evening. It's a really nice place! Very chill vibes. Nice staff. The service was pretty quick and consistent. The food was great! My other half ordered the roast beef sandwich which was delicious! I had ordered just the roast beef. Also delicious! We ordered chicken wings for the table and an Oreo shake. All amazing! The prices were fair for what we got. We were able to sit, relax and enjoy each other's company without feeling like we had to rush out. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in WA! All-in-all, a good experience. read more

I love how at Lost Lake I seem to lose track of time. It's as if I'm transported back in time and I'm in a long running tv show. Maybe it's the decor, or my mind romanticizing of being in a leisure suit with the Delphonics and Melvin and the Blue notes playing in the background. Some of the waitresses had a pin up hair style and wore a line dresses. Back in the days, the hipster mustache and cowboy boots and vintage band t's further added to the nostalgia. I loved sitting at the countertops and ordering omelettes and corned beef hash. The food is always solid and cooked well and it seemed more of a local hang out compared to OddFellows. Waitresses knew you by name, had impeccable memory, and you never left hungry. This is a Seattle staple. read more

I don't leave many poor reviews but this is my second experience here and both were negative. Our dollars don't go as far anymore so buyer beware, this spot isn't worth the spend. The vibes are cute and the kitchen is fast, but the food and service hardly stack up to how pricy it is. There were mistakes with the drink I ordered and it was a struggle to get attention from staff to fix it. Once that was squared away the food came out, but mine wasn't as ordered (eggs over medium... but came out way underdone). The food runner dropped the plates like a bomb, so I couldn't send it back then and there. It took so long waiting for someone's attention that the food started to get cold, and I just traded plates with my girlfriend. They were even too undercooked for her; the snotty egg whites and raw yolks bled into the rest of the dish until neither of us could eat it. Once we realized it wasn't going to be fixed, we just wanted to leave. Nobody came to check on us and we both lost our appetites. When we flagged the server for the check, she asked if I wanted a box and I said no. She asked if I was sure, but didn't ask how it was or why we would let her throw away a mostly uneaten plate. I left $60 poorer and hungry, but I wish I had just walked out after waiting so long for any of the 5 people working the floor to be available for help. My one compliment is on the biscuits because that was delicious but doesn't really make up for the rest of the food being wasted. Even with friendly folks working here we felt unheard, forgotten, and scammed. I run a restaurant and would be embarrassed to leave any customer with an impression like this. read more

This was my first visit to this cafe/lounge. A friend and I meet for breakfast about once or twice a month, and we look for some place with good food and good service at a low price. We've tried quite a few places around Seattle, and have had some good meals, but we were still on a search. We both drive a fair distance to meet (we used to work at the same place in Seattle, and we still enjoy meeting and catching up on each other), and so we want to make the trip and the meal worth it. So we found this place up in Capitol Hill - a bit out of the way for us, but yowza, it was worth it! We had the "Happy Hour Breakfast" (2 eggs, 2 slices bacon/sausage, toast) and a cup of coffee, and it was a fantastic meal! Not only were the eggs cooked exactly as I ordered (over medium, slightly runny yolk) but they were *delicious* - far fresher tasting than most other places we gone. The bacon was good, and the toast was a generous portion of "swirly" rye with butter. It was very good. But let me tell you about the coffee - it is hands down the best coffee we've had in a restaurant. They get their beans from Vida, a local shop, and I was seriously surprised at the quality of the taste. That coffee alone would bring me back! The service was great. Our server was pleasant and cheerful, and made sure to keep the coffee and water refilled. The ambiance is a soft "funkiness." The shop is a bit worn, but it's comfortable, warm, and homey, and has all kinds of decorations on the walls that remind you of a 60s cafe - which it was. Plus being in Capitol Hill there are plenty of Pride flags and other objects to show their support for and inclusion of Seattle's gay community. You bet we're coming back! read more

Stumbled upon this when we were looking for coffee late at night and the coffee shop at Elliott Bay Books was closed. They recommended we go next door to Lost Lake. This has a cool retro late night lounge so we vibe. Like something you see in a painting or movie. Brown tufted seats at booths and tables, swivel seats at the bar counter. Half of the place is the Lost Lake diner side which we sat in, and the other half is the Comet Lounge which has a darker red light aura. Some music was playing in the background - good ol 70s 80s rock. Servers were punk rock dressed, which added to the vibe. We sat at the bar and ordered a coffee to start. Loved how the waitress/bartender didn't bat an eye even though it was 10 pm. The coffee is Cafe Vita - so smooth, no bitterness or sourness. Very good. I ordered just a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie (~$5). It was very tasty - good flaky and thick crust. Husband ordered a carne asada burrito (~$16). He seemed to enjoy it. It was a good size and served with little scoops of guacamole, pico, and sour cream and topped with a drizzle of green salsa. His reaction made me think it was just like normal tasting, not bad, not extraordinary, but solid and satisfying. The menu also includes breakfast favorites like Chicken fried steak, omelettes, scrambled, as well as lunch and dinner favorites like meatloaf, Reubens, salmon and beef burgers, salads, and soup. The place would be better named "Lost Lake Diner and Dive Bar," which is no insult, but sincerely a more proper name for it. The building is split between the two environments. My dining experience was disappointing, as the food is overpriced and underprepared. I ordered the Rocky Mountain Omelet, which was more like cold eggs being used as a cup with the contents in between because none of the bacon, sausage, smoked ham, peppers, or cheddar cheese actually stuck to the egg. This was a $20 omelet, with nothing to offer in terms of quality or size. The service was poor, which made me surprised to learn about the automatic 5% gratuity charge as a solo order. The two jelly containers I opened for my toast seemed old, the jelly was hard to get out because the cardboard had infused with it over time. read more

A hip 24 hour diner, clearly going for the Twin Peaks vibe. It's cool, and the food is decent (for what it is), but it's often a frustrating experience. There's definitely no Norma or Shelly to welcome you here... Most times when I go, it takes forever to get seated. Last time I went, the venue was half-empty and the host ignored my friend and I for a good ten minutes. We eventually walked to the bar to seat ourselves. I ordered a slice of pie and was given a mangled piece of strawberry-rhubarb with a soup spoon instead of a fork. That's Lost Lake for you. They don't even give you bottled condiments, just a bin full of ketchup and hot-sauce packets (I'm sorry, are we at a gas station?). Chicken tenders were crispy and tater tots were crunchy. They a few options for sauce. We got a chipotle sauce for the tater tots and ranch for the chicken tenders. They only give one container per basket. Overall, we will come back. They seemed to be way understaffed at the time so hopefully next time when we visit it wont be as long of a wait. read more

Love the diner vibe and late night opening. It's conveniently located in the heart of Cap Hill, and depending on what you order the food can be great too. The fries here are ultra crispy and absolutely delicious, some of the best especially for late night fare. The eggs sunny side up are delicious and perfectly done too. The french toast is okay and on the plainer side, but definitely in line with standard diner expectations. The sausage links are pretty awesome though - they're not the ordinary ones you'd expect to get at breakfast spots, but were pretty hefty and packed full of flavor.
