I honestly don't think these guys deserve the level of criticism they get. My situation wasn't simple, and they worked with me every step of the way. I came in looking for a Toyota that I could ship to Hawaiʻi for my vacation home -- and anyone who knows Hawaiʻi inspections understands how strict they are. This was not an easy order. Lot 99 went above and beyond. They let me inspect every vehicle inside and out, and they never rushed me. Yes, a few vehicles didn't pass my personal inspection checklist -- but that's because Hawaiʻi's requirements are extremely strict. Every Toyota I looked at would have passed Oregon's standards without an issue. They let me keep looking until I found one that I knew would pass in Hawaiʻi, and this took days. They didn't complain once. In fact, they made the whole process enjoyable by joking around and keeping things light. Here are the inspection points I had to meet for Hawaiʻi: No sharp edges or cosmetic damage that could fail safety. No flaking rust on frame joints -- a tough requirement in rainy Oregon, where even well‑maintained 15‑year‑old vehicles show some surface rust. When I was using my inspection snake camera, they came out and offered their lift to make the job easier. That turned a 30‑minute job into 10. Because they were doing maintenance (battery swaps, etc.), some vehicles had cleared diagnostic monitors. They let me test‑drive the truck long enough for all readiness monitors to reset. I hooked up my OBD‑II scanner, confirmed no codes, and even verified it passed an emissions test -- which Hawaiʻi requires. They sold me a car. The salesman said "everything on this vehicle works great". It was a rainy and cold day so, I didn't test the rear windshield wipers. I did test the A/C and it seemed to work. I bought a $3K warranty for "Everything major is covered", or so the salesman said. Unfortunately, after getting the vehicle home, I found out later that: 1) the A/C didn't work at all - it had holes all through the lines. Repairs were $3500 and NOT covered by the warranty because it was "preexisting". 2) the rear windshield wiper sprayer was disconnected in the ceiling in the rear of the vehicle and sprayed water all over the ceiling panels. Not good. Also not covered because..."preexisting". 3) The engine had bad oil seals - repairs were $4000 and also not covered ... you guessed it, "preexisting". 4) the repair shop called and said "gee, this is all rusted out everywhere". Swell. Bolts were all rusted on and some broke getting them off. In the end, $8,000 dollars later.... The worst part was how the dealership ghosted me. First they said "we'll take care of this because we do a lot of business with the warranty company and we'll fix it". Many, many, many unanswered calls later, a random salesman I finally got to pick up the phone said "we're not going to help you. This is your fault for buying the car in the first place - at your age you should have known better. To quote "you're old enough to know better". So, that took a month to get to the point of the actual repairs and that final "f-u" message from the salesman at the Dealership. The manager (Curt) never once returned my many calls. I honestly don't even know how this place is still in business. From the second I walked in, it felt like I had entered some kind of parallel universe where basic customer service just doesn't exist. No one greeted me, and when someone finally did, it seemed like I was inconveniencing them just by being there. The salesperson I dealt with clearly had zero interest in helping me. Every question I asked was met with vague answers or, worse, complete indifference. At one point, I'm pretty sure they just made up information about a car's features rather than admitting they didn't know. The cars themselves? Questionable at best. Half of them looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks, and I wouldn't be surprised if some had "mystery problems" they conveniently forgot to mention. Van was bought with trade in and cash on July 2. We were told it would be serviced and it was not. We had to call many times to get the paperwork. I also had to drive there to get another temporary tag as ours had expired. I finally threatened legal action mid October and we received the license plates and registration on November 3 with the date of registration being October 29. So I'm not sure why it took four months and threatening legal action but the men there are rude and no one returns phone calls. It was patched up to look like it was good during the few days of test driving and initial look over by a mechanic. My experience with this dealership has been nothing but a head ache for myself, my family, my friends, and even my clients. The frustration around the truck I thought I was buying is unending. I put two thousand dollars down on a truck I thought was in decent condition, and after six weeks of zero communication I decided to return the truck since I didn't have a loan still, and now they wont give me my down payment back and have even threatened to charge me for the repairs that should have been done before it was sold. I drove the truck home mid September after being pre-approved for a loan. Since the day I got it home it has been nothing but problems. The oil was black, and the oil filter was dated 12/31/24 so it was a year old and they didn't do an oil change. So, I changed the oil ($70+). I also installed a new battery since it was sold with an old battery that had sat for too long ($389.99) - that was the first week I bought it. Then I noticed that the brights were flipped, so if I wanted my DRLs I had to technically turn the brights to "on" to turn them off. Then the transmission started getting sticky. Then it started blowing white/blue/black smoke out the exhaust on start up every time I started it. Then I started adding oil....I had to add 7+qts of oil in three weeks. I've added gallons of coolant to the overflow and it keeps disappearing. So, since I still didnt have a loan and no one had called me back any of the 13 times I called, I returned it. They told me I couldnt come in until 4pm, so I took the entire day off work to take this truck back, just for them to tell me that I damaged the truck and now it needs an inspection and even threatened to make me pay for the repairs their truck needs and pay per mile that I put on the truck, which is approximately 2500 miles. I drive a lot for work, I run my own business, and I'm out close to a thousand dollars for taking the day off work. They also refused to come pick the truck up. I will not be paying to fix a truck I have already been fixing that isnt mine, and if it needs escalated beyond just my down-payment back then they can buy that battery and all the oil and the fuel treatment that I've put into it. An astonishing absence of customer service. Immediately upon our arrival, the salespeople started doing everything possible to lose the sale. We were thrown a set of keys and directed to their overflow lot. They realized after about ten minutes of our fruitless searching that they probably shouldn't have thrown us keys and sent us out unaccompanied, so two salespeople and the manager came and found us. Turns out that the car we wanted to see wasn't even in that first lot. They did apologize for that, at least. If we hadn't wanted that car specifically, we would have left right then. And maybe we should have: we were also not fully informed about the condition of the car. It's currently in the shop. We were eventually assigned a salesperson, Jake, who proceeded to fuck up the title transfer to the degree that our *loan provider* was the first to contact us about it. The business as a whole has been less than responsive or helpful in resolving this. We have, in no particular order, been hung up on, pushed off for two days, told it was actually our fault, and generally ghosted. But don't worry; Jake managed to cash the check correctly. He got paid just fine, so what does he care if the rest of the paperwork gets done smoothly? A follow-up call in commission-based sales? What is this magic you speak of? I'll be entirely honest: I used to work in insurance. And if one of my guys fucked up his paperwork this badly, I would consider it a fireable offense. Whatever you do don't use this dealership. We just wanted a temporary in between car, we just moved to Oregon and we bought a nice looking Buick. 1st problem, they told us we just needed air in the tire, the car indicator was on about tire pressure, so we went across the street to put air & when we were attempting to put air, the valve just broke off, this thing inside the valve. We called and understood we bought the car as is, but we just drove off the lot! So they came across the street & bandaged it. The little thing in the valve could not be fixed. Oh well, at least the tire was no longer allowing air to come out. As is, I get it. But what happened after is the real pain in the butt. When we bought the car, paid cash, no lender, the salesperson told us if we want to save some $$ we could go to the dmv ourselves & transfer & title the car. We were like, ok. Called the dmv, the car reflects its on their lot, but titled to someone else, AND it has a leinholder!!! So now I have to either hustle and bug these people for a letter from the lienholder saying that they release the car or they have to give me the title signed off by the leasing company. Either way I need proof that the car is paid off and that I have a title signed over to me. I can't do nothing unless I have that. So I'm pretty upset I'm going to call him again but otherwise I'm going to send this to Yelp and to the Better Business Bureau. But ideally I want my money back and give them back the car. Good luck with your purchase. They have no morals. They tried to set me up with a 89 Mustang lx. First they took my deposit of 1000.00. Do not do this. Do not send them any money. After I sent them the money I decided to do a vin number check on the car. Lets say that I was shocked. Their own website stated the car had 104000 miles. Car fax said otherwise. In 2003 the vehicle had over 133,000 miles! Then a few years later it had 159,000. A short time later the miles were listed on Carfax as almost the same. So I called Lot 99 to express my concern. I was then yelled at by a salesman named Logan. He informed me the DMV makes this mistake all the time. One time mistake with the Oregon DMV, I could possibly understand, but the document had it listed three separate times. After I explained this, he said that this was false and that he knew the guy who traded the car in. But this was a lie too. I had searched the vin and found the car was bought at an auction in June of 2023, and the car was listed to have 203,000 miles. I tried to explain this to Logan but he kept raising his voice to speak over me and would not let me speak. So I asked for a manager or owner and was told by Logan there was none. This was another lie. From another source I was given another name of Rob, supposedly he is the manager. He was no help either. He called once, I sent him a message because when I called, Logan answered the phone and put me on hold for 10 minutes or so. I eventually hung up. Logan informed me I would not be recievlng my deposit of 1000.00 dollars back because I signed their document. So right now I am out a 1000.00 dollars. WOULD BE 0 STARS IF POSSIBLE. Literally the worst car dealership I've ever worked with. I used to sell cars, I've been in sales for over 10 years, and customer service for 15. Rob the salesman, was great UNTIL he made the sale - once the sale went through on his end; I've only been able to speak with 2x and all of the follow ups and timeframe agreements completely went out the window. Purchased on 5/25; they held my vehicle for 30 days promising a repair. I didn't get my vehicle until 31 days - 1 day past our contract (because they didn't order the needed parts until 12 days after the sale). I bought a plane ticket and FLEW up to Portland based on the timeframe they provided to get the truck and they weren't ready. Had to fly up the following weekend (again) to finally get the truck. We tried calling Salem to determine the timing of the plates they said we had to call the dealership. NOW, my temp trip permit expired - the dealership is stating DEQ wasn't done in a "timely manner," (even though we brought it to DEQ the same day we took possession of the vehicle on 6/26.) so they returned our registration fees but didn't tell us we had to get our own plates. It did not have AC, the dash was cracked, the paint was faded and chipping off of the roof and the hood. There was body damage all along the side. And they would not give our deposit back. Now we are stranded in Portland Oregon. And trying to figure out a way to get home. Because the plan was to drive the said vehicle home. There was no resolution from the dealership. Horrible. not only do they sell you lemons but they will completely ghost you after a sale. somebody screwed up in the title transfer and I had been jumping through a million hoops trying to get it figured out. called them multiple times. told me they would figure it out and give me a call right away tomorrow. I saw the salemen taking cars out to get lunch and they of course would pick the nicer cars or faster ones. and they were not driving them like they were trying to sell them. they were driving them like they didn't care if they broke something. then they would not fix it but cover it up and leave it for the next sucker that buys the car. Awful, corrupt, unethical, and dishonest. They sold a completely unsafe and broken car to my husband. They didn't service it all before selling it. Broken windshield they delayed to replace, and have went back on their word to fix the brakes that have no padding left. They've ignored my phone calls, hung up on me, and eventually told me it's not their problem anymore. They have done nothing but a problem since dealing with them. Dealership tried to sell a car that needed a $10k+ repair, whole engine replacement, transmission, and coolant all fucked up-- without telling me how badly it needed to be repaired. Let the buyer beware. Do NOT do business with Lot 99. Because I was purchasing a truck over the internet without seeing the truck in person or driving it I called four (4) times seeking answers about it's condition and was given false information. When the truck arrived it was NOT in the condition that multiple employees had represented. The truck started the first time so that it could be taken off the trailer. Thereafter it would not start. Making matters worse the AC did not work, the power windows were broken, there was undescribed damage to the passenger door rest and lever, there was no spare tire etc. Adding insult to injury the transport fees were 30% more that we had contractually agree upon. As such I immediately called to discuss the fees with Rob. I explained that the sales contract expressly provided for a agreed upon dollar amount. He immediately began swearing at me and belittling me acting like a petulant child. If he had been within 10 feet of me I would have knocked him out and then bought him a sandwich so that I could explain to him what his mother fail to - that you do not speak to people like that. Additionally despite being told that they would include a transport tag so that the truck could be legally driven / moved until registered the same was never sent. I put myself through college will an auto dealers license and know that the business does not need to be done the way Lot99 does. In short this was the single worst transaction I have been associated with in decades. Do NOT do business this group. You WILL be sorry. read more
