Lota Veco is an affordable place to enjoy healthy food options. I ordered the Sweet Potato Burrito with Achiote Chicken. While it was fresh and filling, I found it lacked flavor. With a combination of sweet potato, avocado, black beans, egg, and chicken, I expected it to be more exciting for my taste buds. It definitely needed a sauce, and a little salt and pepper would have gone a long way. The burrito was good, but there is still room for improvement. My husband chose to Build a Bowl that included Catalina Chicken, brown rice, crispy onions, red/green peppers, mushrooms, avocado, pickles, and cilantro vinaigrette. Overall, he was pleased with his order, but he also believed a sauce would've enhanced the dish. Both of our smoothies, the Coconut Pineapple Macha and Lota Berry, were enjoyable, we had to adjust our expectations a bit, but overall, we appreciated the natural taste without the excessive use of additives. The food and service was absolutely wonderful. I ordered on line. It was nice and easy. My total came to $17.33. When my credit card app dinged, it showed I was charged $23.45. When I picked up my meal, I asked the woman at the counter. She provided me with a receipt and it showed a $3.05 top was added - 17%, I'm ok with this. However, there is still a $3.07 gap. The woman at the counter had no explanation for this upcharge, but let me know she would have her manager call me when she was in on Monday ( this all happened on a Saturday). I did not hear back. I left a message for the manager on 3/11. Well, it's currently 4/14 and I have not heard anything. I realize it's not a large amount, but if this happens often to many people, it's not a small amount. It would have been nice for the manager to have called me back and discussed this with me, but to date, one month later, nothing. read more

After a bad experience here almost four years ago, I decided it was time to give Lota Veco another shot this evening. And I'm so glad I did! The place is now super clean and efficiently run, and the food I've had so far is delicious. Prices are still a little expensive, but it's now much more worth it. Right off the bat I noticed that they didn't have any big tubs of juice for bugs to get sucked into (see my other review lol), but instead a refrigerated case full of organic sodas and drinks. They also had some very interesting looking hibiscus tea on tap. Overall, everything up front was clean and well maintained. I got the Mother Earth bowl, and even without any protein add ons it was one of the most flavorful and filling meals I've had out in a while. The mountain of cauliflower rice, sautéed mushrooms, and broccoli were really well seasoned, and the half sweet potato was perfectly soft and almost caramelized in its skin. However what stood out were the three mini falafel. I wasn't expecting anything great as Lota Veco isn't a Mediterranean restaurant, but they really know what they're doing. The chimichurri sauce also brought everything together perfectly. All in all, I'm really happy to know that I can come back to Lota Veco now! I look forward to trying more of the bowls and juices on their menu. read more

Awesome place with very fresh and healthy food. Stopped in for lunch with my daughter, we had never been here before so it took us a while to choose something. The person at the counter explained that we could pick something from the menu to have as is or add a protein from the list of proteins. Ohhh ok, got it now. She had a lot of patience with us thank god! I ordered 2 Sweet Anna tacos, one with added vegan Buffalo chicken. They were both delicious. My daughter ordered the Baja burrito with vegan Buffalo chicken, she loved it! The place was extremely clean and not crowded at all but I did see a bunch of to go orders being picked up. This place is terrible. Customer service is awful- they're rude and incompetent and unfriendly and racist. The food is mediocre and has decreased so much in the last year. The last bowls we ordered were only half filled including the tiger bowl. For $$, there should be more than 2 spoons of rice and beans and one piece of chicken!! I was so happy to see a meat alternative on the menu. It's very rare to see at this type of restaurant, this one being fast-casual. Yay for getting on the vegetarian train! Choo-choo! The vegan buffalo chicken paired amazingly with the Brussel sprouts, avocado, black beans, and rice. They had a vegan type sauce to go with it, but I've never been a fan of ranch (vegan or otherwise). This one was o.k., but I'd prefer something else to go with it instead. Hubs got steak tacos (meat lovers, they've got you covered too!) and overnight oats. The oats were delish, and he really enjoyed his tacos. Inside, they have water with fruit in it that you can refill yourself. I always appreciate fruit-infused water. Yum! A very unassuming little gem in East Northport in a small shopping center. You'd be remiss if you didn't check this place out! If I lived closer, I'd be here all the time. I do like lota veco and I eat here all the time. The online ordering system is easy and they send a lot of email coupons on weekdays which makes this an easy spot to order/pickup lunch or dinner for a reasonable price. The bowls are delicious, especially the mexican street bowl with shrimp yum. The guac with chips (I usually get mixed tortilla chips and plantain chips) is fresh and refreshing as a starter or side and comes with a good amount for 2 people to share. The tacos I have mixed feelings about. I was excited when I saw buffalo cauliflower tacos on the menu but I tried it and "bleh" was done after one attempted bite. It had bland pieces of cauliflower in a watery buffalo sauce and did not taste good at all. Funny enough I find the strongest menu items to be the bowls and salads despite the name of the restaurant meaning "love taco" spelt out of order. I have tried a few different bowls, a few different salads and they were all quite good. I do usually request a second cup of dressing for salads on the side because I find the one provided is not a sufficient amount for me (they haven't charged me for the extra bit of dressing which is a sign of good service!). Lots of options for people with various dietary restrictions like gluten free, vegan, vegetarian etc. You can add different grains like quinoa and farro, black beans, sweet potatoes, and so on. It's on the expensive side but when you're getting a quality meal that's okay by me. Their menu is pretty unique and they have a spin on foods like cauliflower and Brussels sprouts that keep the options interesting. Inside, the restaurant is so clean. I love the decor. This is primarily a take out spot but I sat inside. They have almost endless healthy options and vegan options too! This is a great place to come if you're watching your weight but still want an enjoyable meal. The prices are on the higher side but the quality is also high. I didn't mind spending a little extra for a better product. The service was super friendly. If you want to eat inside, order at the counter and an employee working behind the counter will bring the order to your table when it's ready. The food was soooooo fresh! I got the guacamole with plantain chips-they were seasoned but not salty and a generous portion size. The guacamole had pumpkin seeds and pomegranate seeds. I wish they will open a location on the south shore. I've tried the NAPA BOWL~ kale, rice and quinoa with Brussels and sweet potato and a tahini sauce, topped with buffalo tofu... YUM this plate was perfection. Also the LOTA VECO SALAD~kale and arugula with white beans, avo, chili almonds, pomegranate seeds and added tofu. Also SO good! Had vegan mozzarella on both bowls! Last time I made my own bowl, I have lots of questions so thank you to the staff for keeping up with me lol. Wanted a good healthy spot to grab some grub. I walked in already knowing what I wanted from going on there website. As soon as I came in I was greeted promptly. I ordered and sat down and one of their really comfortable couches they have in the front. The food was really good- I got one of their bowls called the "Nappa bowl" with chicken. Smoothie was also delicious I got a green detox smoothie "first on the menu". Only reason why I have it 4 stars was because despite the fact the service was speedy, the customer service side was morbid and blunt. I was happy and trying to start conversation with one of the women and she was busy on her phone not interested. Which is fine, I get it it's slow and you're bored. I have been trying to like Lota Veco since it opened last year but I just can't keep coming back here. Too many mess ups, too much attitude, it's just not worth it. Today's visit was tough, the cashier was just so rude when I asked about redeeming rewards. They also didn't put cheese in my burrito even though it's supposed to come with it. The last time I was here, they forgot my smoothie and called me as soon as I was walking in the door home. They just said, we can refund you if you don't want to come back which I did. No, sorry, we can give you something next time. This place is fantastic! We now have a place I look forward to visiting when we're in town to see my husband's family. We split the mushroom quesadilla and a guiltless burrito with vegan buffalo chicken. Both were so tasty, with just the right amount of vegan cheese. The quesadilla was packed with fresh veggies including peppers and onions. The side of Brussels sprouts were tender, garlicy, and perfectly caramelized. We also got a chocolate mousse that was healthy and yummy and not overly sweet. The seats are very comfortable and the lighting and flatware are so pretty. I love the casual atmosphere. Lota Veco is a great find for vegans and anyone who likes good Latin food. We ordered a burrito, a quesadilla, Brussels sprouts, and chocolate mousse. All of it was great. As best I can tell, they use Daiya vegan cheese but they don't overuse it. The quesadilla came with a great cashew creme and wasn't too cheesy. I had vegan buffalo chicken in the burrito. It paired perfectly with black beans. The Brussels sprouts were a good side. The mousse was very thick and not too sweet. Last Taco Tuesday of 2019! Lota Veco in East Northport, NY is a new bright, cheery, beachy restaurant that just opened in November. They offer unique flavor combinations and fresh ingredients in their tacos, burritos, salads and bowls. They also have an abundance of vegan and gluten-free options. The restaurant itself is spacious with lots of comfortable seating and it gets fantastic light. Lunch with friends was delightful!
