Really like 4.5 stars for me. I love Lotte! They have amazing produce deals and selection. This particular location gets one star off because it's smaller and does not have an Indian foods section. This Lotte stores often puts advertising signs showing items are "On sale" to lure you. When checking out, they charge higher prices. If they were caught, they were unhappy and look down you. If you didn't notice you were being over charged, they made more profit. Don't become their next victim. read more

Lotte in Springfield Virginia replaced an aging Safeway several years ago. (why oh why didn't Safeway upgrade a bit and stay?) Occasionally, I would buy produce and a few Asian items from Lotte. Most products are overpriced so I do not shop there often. Today, I was a big hurry to make a special dinner and realized I forgot a few key ingredients. Lotte is close to my home, so I made a HUGE mistake and purchased cheddar cheese and a few other items, (NOTE: The receipt is timestamp 6:49pm). I got home and rushed to make the special dish. Only after adding the cheese to my dish, I smell something nasty. I was horrified to find that I added smelly rotten cheese to the mix. I had to throw it all out! Now for the kicker.... the return policy... "All returns require receipt (ok, I have the receipt). Refrigerated, frozen, and perishables must be returned within 12 hours of purchase". UMMMM, are they open at 6:49 am? Then, I looked at the avocados and other items I bought. The avocados were rotten and had some weird mold inside and the lettuce had some black moldish looking stuff as well. I will try to update and let you know if Lotte refunded my $$$. Of course, I lost more than what I spent at Lotte, and I had to order takeout NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM LOTTE! read more

Lots of deals throughout the store and a bunch of sample stations! I was able to get every vegetable I needed for my mom, and even some shrimp snacks at 3 for $5! Their ramen variety is fantastic, I saw ones I didn't even see on my trip to Korea recently:) read more

Buyer beware: almost half the packaged produce we bought (bean sprouts and Shine muscat grapes) were OLD and ROTTEN. Look at other reviews by people who are saying the same thing on Google and Yelp - they are not exaggerating. After realizing we just bought useless produce, we called the Springfield location and they REFUSED to give refund. Absolutely horrible customer service - never coming back and telling people I know to avoid in the future. read more

The really nice thing about this Lotte location is that they've got a great food court, the absolute best prices around for Korean medium grain rice, and a solid selection of Korean and Chinese ethnic grocery items. Even Costco can't beat out the medium grain rice prices here. The meat selection is good, but if you didn't like what you see here, just drive across the street to the Hmart for additional selection. read more

It's a decent store. A Korean American grocery shop is, more fun and entertaining than others. This is where I go for fruits and vegetables. Being a health nut makes this imperative. Costs are high now due to inflation, but my hope is this will eventually diminish. For the record this chain is competitive here, and their healthy items are very fresh. Parking in Ravensworth Shopping Center is frustrating. There's no easy way out either. The employees here are efficient and polite. It can be extremely busy. So I have a thing for international markets. I've been to many around the country. And outside it too. This here is a Korean market primarily, but there are splashes from other Asian and even Latin culture influence. I saw a few Goya products. Smells terrific inside (which can be a challenge in some int'l markets sometimes). As can merchandising and organization. This one is top flight all around on all counts. Huge variety of all things that swim, graze, fly, grow and hunt in here. Fresh LARGE Tumeric root and fresh LARGE ginger root. Tons of visually attractive produce. Signage mostly in Korean for everything. The prices are TERRIFIC on seafood; example: king Salmon $14.99/lb where Whole Foods charges double that. They have head-on shrimp and fresh sardines...whole and dressed fish of all sorts. I was thoroughly impressed. I was the only person of African decent in the entire place that I saw. Everyone else appeared to be Korean. Means they give it their real deal seal of approval so I must be in the right place. They even have taste demonstrators onsite. This supermarket is considerately clean compared to other Asian supermarket. The store is well organized and has great selections for products and meat. But I have to say the meat is priced on the higher end. For example, ox tail is $16.99/lb where some other stores is selling it for $9.99. I visited earlier on to purchase some sliced pork belly. By the time I approached the meat aisle, the whole area was permeated by rotten seafood and meat odor. I felt like chucking my brains out and felt sour stomach developing quickly. It was so bad I could smell it through my mask and everything on. I just left without purchasing a thing. Lotte is now a complete no-go in my book. Never going to another Lotte again. I don't care if it's in Maryland or Virginia. It's just not happening. read more

This is a well-stocked Korean grocery. For a lot of items, it has amazingly low prices. I like that most of the produce is done by item and not by weight. For example, full-sized American egg plants are $1.49 each. Bunches of cilantro and parsley are under a dollar. They also have more obscure fruits and veggies, like Chinese and Indian eggplants, dragon fruit, and kumquats. They do samples on the weekends of dumplings, noodles, and other treats. The American food is more expensive, including cans of beans for close to $2, so I'd stock up on cans when you're at other stores. They have a food court serving hot Korean food and sushi. The sushi is priced well--for 11.95 I got 8 tuna roll pieces, 8 Cali roll pieces, and shrimp, yellowtail, tuna, and salmon (x2) nigiri. It wasn't the best sushi I ever had, but it wasn't bad, and the price was certainly right. read more

I went here for the first time trying my luck if i could buy an octopus! And it didn't fail me. There's fresh octopus and frozen ones. If you're looking for fresh cuts fish, there so much to choose from. And they a couple of sample you can taste that would definitely make your walk around the store much entertaining. The staffs are mostly Asians and they speak a little English. They'll not hesitate to answer your questions you just have to listen to them carefully. When I do my periodic runs for specialized ingredients, I usually go to H-Mart but decided today to give Lotte Plaza a try instead. Here's the overview: -Lotte Plaza Market is a pan-Asian market, although I'd say their largest varieties are of Korean and Chinese food and ingredients--which is great for me because I come here to get Korean deliciousness like ....mmm honey quince tea. -There is a ton of fresh seafood here. I'm allergic to every bit of it, so I don't even go to that section of the store (back left), but if you're into fishy friends, octopus, and that lot, then they've got it here for you. -They have a nice selection of teas, particularly Korean teas, including jarred fruit tea like the abovementioned honey quince tea, which is one of my favorite things in the world. I will drive down here just to get that! On the note of beverages, there is a small section of refrigerated soju and sake. It would be nice if there were more variety, but you can at least buy soju here and they have brands other than Chamisul (aka gasoline). -The frozen section is quite nice! They have mandu, a whole host of naengmyeon and other noodles, and tons of other stuff. I like the CJ and Bibigo mandu. There are also seasonings, marinades, and mandu dipping sauces! -Toward the left side of the store, there are some rice cookers and other appliances. They go from basic to reasonably fancy, in case you want a rice cooker with all the bells & whistles. -There is also a South Asian section specializing in ingredients for subcontinental dishes, which is great. -H-Mart is bigger and has a wider variety of stuff, BUT Lotte Plaza has all the things that I am looking for, and I find it to be organized more logically than H-Mart. I'm so happy that a Lotte Plaza opened up in Springfield! I was a little sad to hear that the old-school Fairfax one closed, but I'm glad one opened up that was a little bit closer! This chain has been around since '76, and offers a variety of Asian/international groceries. They had a nice selection of fresh produce, packaged banchans, kimchi, Asian items, international goods, fresh meats, a nice little snack aisle, and even two little eateries in their mini food court. They also had some houseware/kitchenware items, such as large bowls, kimchi pots, and back scratchers :P Due to their recent grand opening, there were some great sales and deals going on, so I suggest in you stopping by to see what you can get your hands on. Today (12/19/15) was the GRAND opening of the store. And seeing that it is considered an international store..it was SLAMMED! There were various cultures waiting in line to rush the doors and get their first look at the store. This store is the old Safeway store that closed down in the shopping centera few months back. If you have ever been to the other Lotte locations you should already know what to expect when coming here on the weekends. I gave this store a 4star based on its location. This new location in Annandale is smaller than the others but still had a great range of foods and groceries. They even have a fish market in the back of the store like the other locations. Its good that they built this location in Annandale because there was a need for another international food market other than H Mart up the street. *** This is a review for the restaurant Sang Rok Soo located in the Lotte Market I came here for lunch. We ordered the Godeungeo- Gui with a bowl of Sundubu and Don Katsu. The fish was lightly pan fried and cooked on a hot small skillet. The Mackerel was delicious! Tender in the center, not to salty and the lemon gave it a little acid. The Sundubu had a lot of tofu, 1 large shrimp and small clams. The Don Katsu was fried perfectly. The pork inside was moist and not dry. Lunch was $20 for the 2 of us not bad considering all of the food we got with rice and ban chan. I'd definitely recommend lunch here. This is like your typical Asian market. When you walk in, you could smell a fishy smell. Inside there's like a food court where you can order Korean food and its cook to order. There's also a section in the corner that sells Korean facial products and fashion item. What I like about this market is I found hello kitty toilet paper. And it was on sale too! $14 for 24 rolls. The packaging was cute with hello kitty on it and it's pink. On the actual toilet paper there's more hello kitty designs with flowers. Everything was easy to find. The only thing this market can improve on is having more employees out on the floor to offer assistance to customers. read more

Great alternative to going to Lotte if you need another asian grocery store. I love how they have more than just korean ingredients. I like how the seafood is out on ice so you can pick your own. If you come on the weekends theres always samples like at costco but not as many samples. The produce can be cheaper here and they have endless amount of snacks. I didn't know there were so many brands and types of soy sauce, fish sauce, and even curry powder till I came to lotte. The best part of lotte is that they have a restaurant inside that serves great food so remember to stop by. Only bad part is that its hard to find help if you're looking for something specific. You'll just have to roam the aisles yourself and hope you can spot it. Cashiers are fast and the lines move quickly so don't worry when the lines start going into the aisles. read more

The is grocery store reminds me of a 1970's grocery store, but with an Asian flair! I had no idea that it was marketed more towards Korean people, I figured it was just another off-beat grocery store. Who knew! The only food item that I recognized was the sushi, so I decided to go for that. At around 6:30pm they had a very limited selection. California rolls it was! The prepared portion was generous with about 20 rolls packed into a box. The one thing that I didn't like was the fact that the entire store was freezing. Even though I had a sweater, I as still cold and shivering. For that reason, it wasn't a very inviting place to explore some of the exotic food types. Perhaps if I knew what I was shopping for, I would have been more successful in that store. read more

Guys, I mean super duper clean and while I was shopping the other day one of their employees was legit on his hands and knees scrubbing a stain in one of their aisles! Now that's dedication! This veggies are always so bright and clean and the fruits are a mix of basic and exotic! Their fish market is further down on the other side of the store, which I LOVE because I don't have to smell it while shopping for other goodies :) Their snack selection is really good but my only complaint is that not all the staff members are familiar with the store and sometimes communication could be difficult but that's rare! Pretty close Korean grocery for those living on border of Burke and Annandale. It was a Safeway before and it wasn't properly taken care of. I think this store is pretty decent. Pretty packed on weekends. There is a small food court inside. You can find fresh produce, meats, fish, and Korean/other Lotte products. FINALLY a Lotte near my house!!! I love coming here instead of the Hmart in Annandale now. I love that there is a little food court here. They also give samples on weekends (unabashedly love coming on weekends solely for this). The veggies are fresh and fairly priced. Fruit is okay, not a great great selection but it will do. I came here for Christmas Eve dinner groceries on the recommendation of one of my asian friends. I spent 180$ We were going to have a seafood feast of crab lobster shrimps mussels oysters I bought fresh oysters fresh mussels which were old and rotten smelled like ammonia I bought frozen snow crab and what the called Dungeness crab claws which they weren't looked more like stone crab but that's not my complaint I also got frozen whole lobster And frozen scallops which were freezer burned and I tried to save them by cutting off the rotten parts Everything was rotten and not edible This was our holiday dinner and the only thing we could eat was 4 steaks and some fresh shrimp which was marginal I Called the store the day after Xmas and was told to bring the receipt which I did with a picture of all the food in a garbage bag I don't have time to complain about rotten food from the grocery store but this food was obviously frozen when it was rotten and it was over 80$ worth of food But mostly it spoiled our holiday meal I will be lodging a complaint with the health department they obviously don't care about poisoning people as much as they worry about profits This isn't over We will never shop there again and neither should anyone else read more

I've been to the place multiple times; in fact its one of the least place that I would go due to the fact that its near to the place that I live. But, I thought this happens only once or with a few cashier. Unfortunately, 98% of the cashier dont even ever see my face and say hi or even never wanted to say any word and they dont even mention how much I do have to pay with the exception of pointing their finger to the cash machine when they are ready to charge and let alone asking "if I find everything that I am looking for" and worst of all they seem mad all the time. I have never seen a horrible ....horrible ....horrible customer service in my life and didnt want to generalize or dont want to stereotype without having a well rounded other people feedback but noticed them they are a kind of friendly to non-black people. read more

It's your typical Asian grocery store but with a mini food court in the front. Imagine fast food Korean and Japanese food, mainly sushi. Ordered the dolsot bibimbop and the kalbi dinner. Both came pretty quickly and is much less than other Korean restaurants. The kalbi was a little too sweet for my taste but still very tasty. Bibimbop comes with all the fixins and just as delicious. I can't wait to try the jajangm eon and the beef bone soup. When I come back to town, this will be my first stop. Of course you can't leave without buying some other exotic goodies. read more
