Best bagels ever. Parmesan and cheddar dill are so good. The scones are also wonderful. The owner Greg is very friendly.

PRO TIP: order online ahead of time to skip the line!…read more This bagel shop is super popular and there was a line out the door when we arrived on a Monday morning. We got to skip the wait and I just grabbed my order from the shelf. I did have to wait at the counter for them to fill my coffee cup, but I appreciated that it was hot and fresh. The space is small, with no dine-in area, but they seem to move through everyone's orders pretty quickly. I got the nosh (Louie's bacon, Tillamook cheddar, egg, and scallion cream cheese) on a black pepper parmesan bagel. You can also choose from a few other sandwich options, including a rotating feature. The bagel and schmear options lean more savory vs. sweet, which is my personal preference. The bagel was chewy and the sandwich held up pretty well, but I do wish it had a bit more shmear so I might add extra next time. The bagel itself wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping in the sandwich combo, but as I got towards the end I was noticing more of the parmesan. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

No real good quick stop cafes or coffeeshops that serve bagels like this from what I've found. Everyone else seems to think the same... place was packed. Line out the door on a Sunday morning in the summertime. However, skip the line and order online. Estimated wait time is pretty accurate. Take your bagel to the beach nearby and eat it there. Can't beat the view.

I remember stopping in as…read morea kid when I spent time each summer in Northern MI, and I don't think it has changed much since then (we'll just say that was the 1990's for now). I recently stopped in on July 4th and picked up a dozen red, white and blue decorated cookies to bring to a friend's house that was entertaining. I found some with fireworks decorations and some with smiley faces. Needless to say, they were well received by the hostess and the guests enjoyed them. Even on a busy holiday morning, there were delicious looking donuts and baked goods, and the aroma brought back all kinds of emotions from my childhood too. Johan's is old school but that never goes out of style. Service was not the friendliest but it was not bad. You order at the counter and pay and you're out... easy peasy. While I took my cookies to go, there are some tables outside if you wanted to sit down for a few and enjoy your treats there. If you're in the area, definitely stop by Johan's for a tasty pastry (or two) and cup of coffee!

Glen Arbor's secret - a real deal Jewish deli shop with enormous sandwiches and variety of bagels…read more Get there before 10 AM because they do sell out TIp: order the half sandwich or if you and your dining companion like the same sandwich just get one and split it. At about 14 a2 to $15 apiece this is one of the rare exceptions where it is a good value because you will get two meals out of each sandwich. We ordered a Tripoli (ham, turkey, salami, and provolone, lettuce, and tomato) and a Gaza ( curried chicken, lettuce, tomato, shredded carrot, and peas) both on rye bread. Both sandwiches were made with high-quality ingredients and we would definitely recommend either of them. Again, I cannot stress it enough, the sandwiches are enormous, and you really should share. it feels like a grammar school, kind of a cafeteria, it's modern and clean, but not particularly in inviting or appealing or charming in any way. Service was patient with his first time, kind, and very helpful. Recommend!! I'd like to return in the future and try their bagels. I'm disappointed that I came at lunchtime and all they had left with cinnamon raisin and I'm not a fan of raisins so... Next time!

I would love to try to lunchmeat sandwiches on my next visit. Highly recommend this. Don't expect it to be a go, grab and leave. It's a busy place so even if the line isn't long, you'll be waiting for a bit to get your order. I'd say, it's completely worth it, as long as you have the time!
